I don't know how, but my gut instinct is that we have to save him somehow. The dialogue before you enter the fight allude to losing a friend.

Why do people like Hautchefaunt so much? Nice guy in the story but I never understood the fan base on him.

@@BlazingAzureTheta Nah you go into the next phase without him. He's clearly supposed to die. Especially since that's part of the story being told by the Minstrel.

@@JackgarPrime Yeah, you can move on, but it's weird that in an ultimate you get a checkpoint after a dps check that you can survive with one tank up. I feel like the checkpoint is a bait to make people stop paying attention to the first phase.

@@WizelBalan He's the only one to provide refuge and take you in after the Ul'dah assassination attempt and exile, and he's willing to face down the other xenophobic Ishgardians to make sure you're taken care of. He's also the first really notable death - Moenbryda was too but she just wasn't around for very long before. Haurchefant is around much longer.

Looking at all streamer reactions I've seen so far, everyone seems completely terrified and overwhelmed whenever they enter a new phase... and they all love it, because it's exactly the challenge they were hoping for. I'm rooting for everyone who's running their heads into this reinforced steelwall of a fight!

???: such a casual game even the hardcore content has checkpoint. Average IQ players: pretty sure the first phase is just a Faust.

It is just a Faust. Both things from Heavensward, where the raid gimmicks became those as we know today.

cant believe its been 5months, the stream of that week was so fun to watch

literally brought him back to kill him again so, when they get to shadowbringer ultimate, i bet they gonna have catboy dead over and over again for the next phase

That's because it doesn't have a real checkpoint, mate. The first part is just a Faust, purely checking if you can even get into the Ultimate proper. Which is why, if you die on the last part, you go back to fighting Thordan.

The checkpoint is the actual start of the fight. The first point is nothing but a check to see if you can even make it to the start

Well, further progress reveals that the "checkpoint" wasn't actually a checkpoint at all, but part of the mechanic lol. This ultimate is actually insane
