changbin used to be the leader of his school’s dance team so yeah imagine how good the whole skz is 😳

Minho was a dancer for other artists for a while and I’m pretty sure they’re taught not to make many expressions so they don’t “outshine” the artist. Maybe some of that teaching is still ingrained in him. It has been two+ years since they’ve debuted though, so he’s definitely growing out of it.

Good point. If you give a look to most backup dancers in music shows you can see they are expressionless, they don't even smile. Maybe Minho kept that habit along with him

I hope he improves more though cause nct shotaro was also a backup dancer and his technique is also great like Minho however shotaro seems more relaxed on stage and looks like hes telling a story with his dance. He doesn’t over do it with the expressions but has the right amount

I think minho potrays his emotions in his moves, like his dancing tells a story? He doesn't show many facial expressions and I think the reason why he sometimes underdances is bc he wants to blend with the others? That's just my opinion :) as a dancer myself, I tend to watch his fancams the most and he always catches my attention bc his flow and overall moves are woah. I do also prefer his type of dancing, like whole dance line is amaizing, but Minho just really stands out to me

I agree with this ranking- I’m a Hyunjin Stan and I know he’s broadening his dance influences by learning contemporary but I do believe that Lee Know is a very solid, consistent and clean dancer. The thing is; I think because Lee Know was a backup dancer for so long he’s accustomed to not drawing attention from the group he’s supporting so he’s not the best at facial expressions and that’s kinda where people get confused. Lee Know’s technique is better but Hyunjin is more fun to look at.

I enjoy minho's dancing better, hyunjin seems way too flexible to me and i think that he sometimes go far with his facial expressions, minho's dance is more solid and fun to watch (my opinion) but along with felix the danceracha of skz is so so strong.

Lee Know is one of the cleanest dancers there is. He intentionally tones down energy, and keeps things very sharp so the whole group looks like a single unit, and the dance is cleaner. He has tremendous power, which is very hard to keep clean, but he manages it every time. with his rare true solos, you see a very different dynamic. And his ego doesn't ever come into play, he dances for the group. He is precise, powerful, sharp, and absolutley amazing to watch.

Lee know said in an interview that he tried to match his dance performance to that of the rest of the group which may be why he doesn't have much energy, he doesn't wanna outshine anyone and under-dances, he wants consistency and synchronization~~ but when lee know has his solos and centers he does not hesitate to show through!

minho is one of my favorite idol dancers and it’s because his body control is absolutely insane and is often overlooked. he truly focuses on every minute detail in a choreography and it shows in his solo dance video or fancams

i just have one thing to say: *STAN TALENT, STRAY KIDS!!*

I think Minho under dances because he's treated as backup dancer (dear jype, he's the *main dancer* ). When he's the center or at lest not in the back he seems totally different (more energy, better facials etc.) and as long as they don't let him shine, he won't be noticed like Hyunjin or Felix. And is it just me or skz or jype is focusing more on Felix and Hyunjin lately? I get that maybe it's "their era" but I really like when group is a group not "[name] and friends", but I noticed that in 2020 they're focusing on the most popular members only (to gain popularity i guess, but i don't think it's fair). I really appriciated Stray kids for letting every member shine and I still do, but it's getting annoying because popularity is not everything.

About felix and hyunjin I don't think they are focusing more on them, if you mean the MVs you have to consider that the skz's title tracks are mostly fast, so sometimes the rap lines are more than the vocal lines. Actually I think they stand out for their abilities, like felix's voice and hyunjin's stage presence, this often gets the attention of someone listening and watching to them for the first time.

@@snls5855 Yes, I also noticed that in "back door" they have more lines and center than in their previous songs, but I also noticed that in the other songs on the album Felix and Hyunjin don't have many lines and the other members stand out more. I mean ... is inevitable that in some songs some members have more lines compared to others.

@@snls5855 they actually don’t Hyunjin has the second to least lines in god’s menu. And the fact that they he and Felix and a lot of members actually sing one two verses except 3racha. Besides they have 8 people in a group, and it’s hard to divide a 3 minute song to that many people without someone having something less than others, overall they’re a very group coming from a JYP group.

I agree Hyunjin is definitely versatile and his solo proved that, it was the first time I’ve actually been moved to tears by a dance performance, usually I’m just in my feels. He definitely has room for improvement but that was a masterpiece in itself and we can only expect greater thing from him in the future!! Edit: some spelling errors :p also, I think sometimes his overdancing is on purpose (hear me out). Over or underdancing is NOT a bad thing, and the reason I say it’s on purpose sometimes, especially on stage, is because as a performer you have to try and dominate a huge empty space and overdancing creates that effect that hypes up everything. So for me when I see skz on stage I’m drawn to hyunjin because he seems to own the stage better than the others, and it doesn’t always seem like overdancing in those settings. So actually, I prefer it when he overdances sometimes haha it enhances the performances :)

I agree with this! Hyunjin definitely owns the stage whenever he walks onto it, but Minho’s isolations and technique are so clean and precise. Also, I think Hyunjin shows a lot of potential in contemporary. His choreographed solo video was great, and I think he’d be able to embody the concept. Both of them are definitely personal favorites.

Yeah it's really hard to avoid every mistake which leads to no weaknesses. I personally think I can add J-hope in this list too. (I'm not bringing BTS into everything and Ik this is a skz video, I just wanted to point out there are very several dances who manage to have no weaknesses)

I believe in the power of minho, his facial expressions got a loooot better this year, his latest fancams were lit af. to me he is the best dancer of 4th generation, and i never ever get bored watching his fancams, and i like his facial expressions and stage presence cause he doesn't go over the edge with anything he does, he always makes it look so easy.

I wish we got more Minho center dance he’s incredible

former dancer here. i think the most striking thing about how SKZ dances is their cohesion as a team while still maintaining their individual style and identities. they each have moments that highlights their various strengths, but they are so precise with their (very complicated) transitions and timing. i find myself drawn to Hyunjin’s style the most...he is alternately powerful and graceful, hits every mark just right, but can also loosen up and convey swagger easily without looking sloppy. his long limbs make this a lot harder than it seems. he also has an undeniable personality to his dance, makes it hard for me to watch anyone else.

Lee Know deserves better... Seriously

Lee know doesn't mind if he's the center or not,. He's happy to dance/perform with the rest of SKZ and for them to have a good performance as a group is what matters to him ❤️

I actually agree with you for dance racha position. The rest, I can’t really tell but the three, I think I have the same opinion. Lee know isn’t my bias but I really love the way he dances. His foot is as light as a feather. And the choreography he made when he free styling- I really love that too

actually in some parts of back door, chan is not stable in terms of singing. esp in his first part in BD, in most performances he's unstable and there's another performance where he switched to sing the lower harmony considering chan usually harmonize on the spot, singing in lower harmony doesn't mean he's showing off; it probably means he doesn't as much stamina as usual so he conserved his energy

I agree with the rank but i wanna add that jisung is also known to be one of the members who picks up choreography faster than others. With the dance line, for me, felix really excels in footwork, hyunjin’s dance is very flowy, while minho is very detailed and precise. I’m not a professional dancer but that’s what i’ve observed in them as a stay for almost 2 years now 😂

Super late reply but I love this comment so much. Jisung sometimes reminds me of EXO Baekhyun in that they excel in everything they do. If Baekhyun is 3rd gen's genius idol, then Jisung is 4th gen's for sure.

@@snls5855 i dont think it would become hyunjin and friends, First because lix is the most popular member but then its not just hyunjin and lix, chan is pretty famous among non stans for his Chan Bangs. Han is pretty famous too. Changbin is pushed too like letting him go to KOMS and SMTM and even he is also know to be one of the best rappers in kpop. Seungmin did MC for 2 show ASC and We Kpop. Jeongin was also sent for his Trot competition. Its not that a some members are being focused and everyone else is ignored. They have their own gigs too so all are promoted well. But the only member i am sad about is Minho he definitely deserves so much more. Hoping to see him more in the lime light. This thing was only for Miss A with Suzy and friends but that was a whole different case since suzy's popularity was on whole another level than the other 3 members. but in skz there is not much popularity difference between the members. So dont worry

In my case, I think I would've put Felix 2nd, because I feel like he's a little more fluid than Hyunjin. Just my opinion. And about Minho... he does underdances sometimes, but I'm pretty sure that's because of what he said: that he's dancing for the team. You can clearly see that everytime he's on the back he's watching the other members' movements (monitoring) and so. This is also why he's one of my favourite dancers on kpop, he's not the kind of idol who would take a dance break to shine by himself, he dances for his team and that's amazing. I'd love to see him doing a dance break tho, but oh well ♥️

I think just in pure technique hunjin is better as fluidity does not equal correct technical movements. But everyone has their own preference for dancing styles soooo

I totally agree with this!! Hyunjin is one of my all time favorite kpop dancers (if not my favorite performer) because I absolutely love to watch him and his facials and stage presence are no joke, my eyes always follow him no matter what, but lino being ranked first makes sense because he’s very consistent and a great technical dancer :D

I would rank Seungmin higher tbh bc I watched his fancams and he looks amazing. He moves are really clean/precise and his upper body movement is flexible. When I first saw Seungmin I thought he was at least a lead dancer but I was wrong 🤡

I honestly don’t think Lee Know under-dances! I’m a dancer myself, and from watching all of his predebut dance videos , and dance videos as an idol, to be honest, I think the guy just has a style that’s more chill and groovy, so sometimes, it really does look like he underdances and doesn’t have good facials. But his lack of real expression is kind of the charm? It helps his iconic sexy appearance,, he’s extremely charismatic on stage,, and he definitely knows what he’s doing with his face- and lately, he’s been improving immensely,, and he’s managed to shine incredibly in most performances But I totally agree with your rankings, and honestly I’m glad to see than you’re not biased because some of these clearly are and it’s frustrating :,))

I think he said in an interview that he tries not to “go too hard with dancing” because he doesn’t want to stand out alone but rather make skz stand out as group, that’s why when he has dance breaks/solo moments he uses more energy than what we are used to see him use (also his past as back up dancer might have influenced this “when it’s not my moment I will not try to outshine” mentality)

i kinda disagree with Hyunjin having a problem with his stamina and under dancing toward the end, maybe he did at first but I think he no longer really has an issue with that. I’ve watched several of his Back Door fancams and in my opinion he keeps the same energy throughout the whole song?? I mean sure you can see he’s tired at the end (who wouldn’t be, it’s a really intense song lol) but I didn’t notice him under dancing at any point. idk im not a dancer so what do i know lmao but it’s just what I’ve noticed personally

I know this is an old video but the fact that Felix and Hyunjin still look up to Lee Know and want to learn from him says that Lee Know is still their strongest dancer. But he definitely doesn't want to outshine either one so he tries not to be as flashy. Hyunjin is a great dancer but has less stamina and gets tired faster. He's definitely fun to look at and usually the "eye candy" on purpose. Felix a lot, too. But they still tire faster. Changbin is super fun to watch too because he puts a spin on everything and it's great.

I AGREE WITH YOU. For me, it's not just about stage presence or techniques in dancing. But it is about someone who when he can mix dance while dancing with the other members, and can show his presence while doing his part. the thing I love about stray kids is how none of them are bad dancers. most if not all of their weaknesses you can relate to their personalities as well, which I find hilariously endearing (hyunjin being a drama queen=overdancing, minho is quiet and is very aware of his other teammates=underdancing, etc) I loved this analysis, and it was really well thought out. I like how you showed all the members' strengths and weaknesses. if you came out with a more in-depth analysis similar to this I would watch the hell out of it, even if it was an hour-long lol

I never see Lee Know under dance, maybe he holds himself to not over power the members but never under dance. But all of the boys are so talented

Thing is, I really think Han is underappreciated when it comes to his dancing skills, he didn't have the position but I did also noticed his skills since pre-debut/survival show (the one you used) and I barely even see comments about him when it comes to their dance practices, performance and etc.

We want more lee know (not in the back) scenes 😭🤚🏻

Yah~ Seungmin's dance in the Back Door era is my most favorite dance of his as of now. And Lee Knowww, of courseee, I'm speechless.

honestly I really think jisung and bangchan are on par, if jisung didn't forget choreo he would 1000% be in the top 3/4 purely because of his stage presence and how he never under/over dances, I also feel like he can adapt to different styles so well!! same for channie, if he didn't overdance so often he would be insane but like you said it makes it a little messy.... then again as they literally do EVERYTHING above average who can blame them for not being #1😭 proud of my boyssssss

I really love how he ranked the idols with no favouritism. Some comments with the video and the other comments. For me, I'd rather put Changbin at 6th based from Pre Debut up to now, it's just he's a rap-centered on the recent comeback 'Back Door'. Regards to the comments where they pointed out the versatility of Hyunjin. Yes, he choreographed his dance cover and it's a contemporary but Hyunjin doesn't always look good as a dancer in that particular genre resulting that it's not yet suited to him. But yeah, when that was released, he already got points to make his low versatility higher than before. I feel like Stray Kids has a strongd dance line from a 8-9 member group. Also they are doing dancebreaks during Music Awards and Festivals, that makes them showcase their dance skills and prove that they have strong dance line. Plus, we already know that Stray Kids has a lot of choreos from Pre Debut up to now. They are probably the most hardworking KPop Groups this generation. And I hope the best and wish Stray Kids will be a huge sooner or later.❤️

So basically: HOW MUCH TALENT does one group really need???!!! btw Chan also has double jointed ellbows in addition to long arms so that probably doesn't make dancing easier Edit: Let's not forget they did an almost minute long dance break in blindfolds with multiple formation changes at the Gaon Award show they are crazy!

stray kids is the only kpop group where all members are Vocalists, rappers and dancers. they are all rounded grouo

4:26 i heard a girl shouted "han jisung bat andyan ka" which is a tagalog (Philippines) word that means "han jisung what are you doing there" woah, it shocked me so this happened in our country, Philippines!

I used to learn and dance years ago. As someone who focused more on technique, it's obvious that Minho is my first pick. I have the same ranking as yours and I agree with some of your opinion. I watched back door solo fancam for my observation coz it's the newest release. IN has improved tremendously since his debut, he looks less awkward now. However for me, Felix seems to have stamina issue while Hyunjin has actually improved in stamina aspect. Till the end, Hyunjin's energy level didn't look as drop as how it used to be (take Miroh as example, it's the most obvious one at least for me). But I'm actually a little disappointed with Hyunjin's footwork in some parts in back door. It's kinda off/messy. And regarding facial expression, I agree that Minho still lacking a bit of it but I think he has improved as well. I don't know if it's only me, but I feel like he's being selective about this 😅 He can and he knows how to to show better expression when his singing part comes. But when it's not his part, he kinda doesn't really mind bout it. It's like he knows that camera is not shooting him, so why bother? 😂 I don't actually mind about over/underdance issue coz sometimes I feel there's maybe other aspects that affect how people dance. For example, Minho could be seen underdance sometimes probably because he knew that he needed to reserve his energy for singing as well. Or if it's in a concert, I think he knew that he still had to perform several songs, so he needed to tone down some dancing parts. While other members such as Hyunjin or Chan could overdance sometimes probably because of their own emotion? I think it happens sometimes. Emotion such as excitement could influence the way people dance too. But yeah, just need to be careful, coz I feel sometimes over/underdance maybe will affect their performance as a team.

I feel like hyunjin, since he truly focuses on putting on a good performance and uses all of himself for it, tends to use a lot of energy sometimes too much, you might not see it during the performance itself because he became good at it but as soon as the performance ends he’s destroyed(for examples look at concert clips, hyunjin after two songs looks like he ran a marathon while lee know, who’s more cautious and knows when to use energy in his moves, looks more composed) another thing is that hyunjin tends to dance by himself and by that I mean that he doesn’t care if he outshines or over dances while Minho,quite literally said this, tends to “under dance” because he on the opposite doesn’t want to stand out from the group because he wants SKZ to stand out not Lee Minho (this is just what I’ve noticed in these years I’m not a dancer 😭)

Changbin 7 and seungmin 6, I kinda surprised... but yeah seungmin has grown a lot in terms of skills, he be less awkward when dancing nowadays, his variety skill has been sky rocketing, and not to mention his growth in his range of vocal too. I feel proud to stay and to be a stay! My beautiful talented boys♥️

The list is the same as the list in my head and the thing that makes me the saddest as a Stay is that Lee Know is an amazing dancer and that's why it sticks out more when he underdances. He is so good at dancing but when he underperforms, it's so obvious! It really makes me sad. Thanks for the informative vid!

whats shocking to me is that seungmin joined feb 2017 and the survival show started oct 2017, he's got a really short training period and dances well given his vocal position

(too long to read so yeah you can skip this one lolol) The thing is why people places Hyunjin at 1st in some dance ranking (and istg some even says minho's overrated as a main dancer) 1. Hyunjin has MANY (im not even overreacting) good centers and solo parts mostly in title tracks which has immaculate choreos. 2. Minho, on the other hand is an skz back up dancer. Pls dont misunderstand, but the point here is title tracks, and exposure. Surely people would think he's not a skz member if he didn't had that 2nd hook center on god's menu right?? He still gets fair lines and exposure on b side performances tho :(( 3. People think he sometimes under dances... But as someone who has a bit of knowledge, its actually a trait. Some people, when they feel overwhelmed, they tend to 'stick' to their assigned position. (in this case) In short, he didn't want to look 'Desperate' but just stick to what position he was given. And he still have this 'back up dancer' feels left on him thats why his facials are limited. But that's what makes him hot so🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Anyways, i didn't say this so that yall can hate and say hyunjin is overrated because we all know he slays the stage as usual. But just to inform other uneducated people who thinks exposure, center power, facials, and screentimes means the best of the best. Everyone in skz are all good at dancing, AND might be 100% better than those random people ranking them🥴

thank you for saying this!! hyunjin and minho are both EXTREMELY talented dancers, though i kind of get upset when people dont give minho the credit he deserves just because he rarely gets the spolight enough to showcase his skills. hes a very underrated dancer in skz and in kpop, he has an amazing technique, never overdances, and adjusts his dance so that he fits better with the group, even if it means he shines less than the rest. in conclusion, stan minho, stan skz !!

I agree. When Minho is positioned center, his facial expression is on point e.g. easy. I don’t think he lack the facial, he just don’t have chance to show it

Minho is a professional. He doesn’t have to try to hard to present a good dance. It’s just very easy for him. When u look at him while dancing, you can clearly see that he does the moves so basic, soft and without giving any extra effort.

i think top 3 was already quite predictable tbh !!
