I think Dale is one of those cats with a collagen defect. It causes their skin to hang loosely on them and gives them the "sad" expression. I haven't heard about any that weren't just normal cats.

Dale may look sad when his eyes are open, but when they're shut and he's being pet? Boy looks happy as can be.

I took in so many strays,some in bad shape. They were either found a good home or spent their days with me. How often I saw the pain they went through,and their gratitude in their faces. One look spoke volumes. Dear God,how I long for a world without homeless or abused animals.

my cat is the same way. he’s a big fluffy tuxedo cat we found as a stray in our backyard. we’ve been keeping him for the past 8 years or so and he’s been the most attached to me the whole time. the other day i went to an antique shop and the first thing i noticed was this big gray cat. his name was gandalf and he laid on me and let me carry him around. i instantly saw my cat in him. he had the same gentle, cuddly nature as him. his owner said gandalf is only like that with other people he can tell are cat people

It’s awesome that they found each other. Most people think having two cats is to much work and extra funds. But not really and the stress lever of having a best friend to play with is the best. They now have each other as best buds.

I foster kittens, and I always tell adopters that two kittens are less work. It's the same for adults (that get along with each other, of course). Cats need entertainment, stimulation, and companionship. Having a playmate helps them stay mentally and physically active. I also think bonded pairs are a lot less likely to have behavioral issues that some cats raised by themselves. It depends, of course, but many cats are happier with a friend. And it makes life easier for the owner too.

Thank you so much for adopting these two! I adopted two old cats when a friend passed away, and those fellas gave me some of the best moments of my life. Please, adopt when you can!

I had an FIV+ boy that came to adopt me after being beat up on the streets of Philly. This reminded me of him. Holifield had a mangled ear and was the sweetest guy. His time was short only 5 years with me but it was wonderful to give him a loving safe life after who knows how hard he suffered before finding me.

If you are not using L-lysine, ask your vet about it. It’s an immune system’s supplement that really helps hiv positive cats fight off the infections they are prone to. I put a little in my cats wet food at every feeding. For my cat the difference has been amazing. He was prone to lung infections and now is almost never bothered by them. Bless you for taking in these street cats with health issues. We are in the same “exclusive “ club.😺

I second the recommendation to use Lysine regularly with your cats. We have used it regularly with our cats for years as it boosts their immune system and they seem to be free of common respiratory infections and their health is just more vibrant. We use Lysine in a soft tablet form and break it into two pieces and place a half dozen pieces in their dry food bowls along with Greenie dental bits to keep their teeth clean and their breath fresh.

@@robertjanicki5906 I get very good quality bulk l-lysine from Amazon. You can get 1 lb bags for only $18. That will last a very long time. Oddly the 2.2 lb bag from the same company is the exact same price. There is no difference in the quality. I put it in a salt shaker so it’s simple to add to their food. The water solubility is extremely good. I used to buy capsules and then break them open. It was a real pain. The bulk is much easier. I get the 2.2 lb bags now.... 😺

L-Lysine is just a typical amino acid, i.e. what protein is made of. Every meal of a cat will probably contain lysine. How can it have therapeutic effects? Is it an essential amino acid for cats? (-->One that they can't synthesise themselves)

They lived a rough life on the street now they are in a great place living with a great cat mommy. Thanks lady for caring for these cats.

Beautiful boys, so cute. I have 2 FIV (formerly) feral cats who are now indoor cats and are the best of friends like Dale and Dan. Such a blessing cats are that have known a tough life and appreciate a loving home.

Two old warriors that had a rough life....that left scars on their skin and on their health...now deliciously retired. Lovely creatures, lovely rescuer.

Many years ago Tom showed up on my deck. He was just like these two. I brought him in, got him fixed up and he was my love bug for 6 years until I had to say goodbye because he got too sick. He was a wonderful friend.

Who wouldn't fall in love with Dan & Dale? So glad that these two handsome boys have their perfect forever home.

Boy cats are my favorite. I have two. One little girl as well. Cats keep me sane.

These boys KNOW they have been rescued and hit the jackpot. So wonderful to see theyve bonded and are happy.

I think a lot of them just get tired of fighting, the ferals I feed are getting older and they will fight if they have to but if they can figure out how to get out of the fight now they will do it. They know when it’s worth and when it’s not. They are like us they just want to enjoy their lives.

The second cat is my spirit animal in almost every way.

I remember when I brought home a new kitten to replace a cat of ours taken by an owl (RIP) and the stray cat who'd been living in our garage and occasionally creeping in the corner of the room came sprinting over meowing his head off the second he saw a new cat show up. I'd been trying to coax the stray out for over 6 months, and he'd bolt the second you looked at him. But seeing another new cat flipped a switch in him and he went from 0 to 100. It was surreal. The two got on super well (after nearly 6000 dollars in vet bills fixing that ratty bastard, I was certain he'd need to be put down, as he looked awful, turns out he had stomatitis faucitis and all his teeth had to be removed) Still, we got two cats to fill the void for the one we lost. Just only one was intentional. He's still alive after nearly 6 years despite the vet saying he likely wouldn't live longer than 2, as he needs shots every month to keep him alive... he's been one expensive toothless gutter cat. But I've never owned a cat who seems to appreciate being alive and what was done for them like he does. I think he knows.

Literally a dream come true to have these two in your family! I'm a sucker for the big checked, FIV positive (sadly,) unneutered (at least until fully grown males,) bruiser boys, too. Did you adopt them? Layla would be so happy to know that her fellow cats can also have her awesome owner to love too (: My heart did a little flutter when I saw May 4...my cat's demise was 2021's...I miss my precious girl...still having a very hard time functioning on a day to day basis. Maybe a year on I'll be able to do the same as you.

Did you get the kitties? If not hav3 you thought about two older cats? Not as old as these two. I typically adopt 5 yo cats (or around that age) since they are always overlooked for kittens. I get it tho! Kitten are so damn cute! So sorry to hear about Layla. I know you must have been gutted. All the best to you my fellow cat love, crazy-cat-lady in training! 😻

I love how the shelter has her on a short list for all very interesting cats. :D If I were to get a cat I would only wish I could get one with half the personality and charm as these two. But the first one missing the street life made me a little sad. So glad he got a friend.
