Everybody says "they don't build 'em like they used to", but it looks to me like you do build 'em like they used to. I can only imagine what that thing's gonna sound like once it "settles in". You do extraordinarily nice work! If you had been around in the 50's-60's, Leo would have been real glad to have you at the old Fullerton plant. I am impressed, and my hat is off to you, sir.
At the ripe old age of 54 I've finally. Got round to learning the guitar, your videos have given me a good grounding on how their built, thank you for taking the time to put together such an informative set that every budding guitarist should watch, as to get a better understanding of what goes into the building of such a beautiful instrument as yours,
That was the best CRAFTSMANSHIP on any guitar I have ever seen. I literally watched every video took about 2 pots of coffee. That Strat is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome watch mate. Learnt heaps watching this. And nice stevie soundtrack too
You are the first person on YOU TUBE that knows STRATOCASTERS, great job.
David, I've probably watched several months of material on KZread but nothing have caught my attention and interest like these series of yours. Never really considered building a guitar myself, now it's become a top priority! Thanks!
i've said it on another video of yours, and i will say it again.. BEST GUITAR BUILDING SERIES ON KZread..!! this process cant be described better.. so we all owe you a big THANK YOU...!!
This is such an important series of videos you've created here. To have taken the time to do this in order to teach others you have passed on so much knowledge. Your attention to detail truly sets you apart. You're a master craftsman and I hope your artistry brings you the recognition you deserve.
Sir, I have watched all your 10 videos in 2 sessions and I want to congratulate you with your outstanding craftsmanship and eye for detail, and also thank you for taking the effort to video the whole process in a very professional manner! Please ignore the 'thumb down Trolls'. They are a sad bunch of individuals without a life...
I'm not worthy you make it look so easy. The mark of a true craftsman. It is true pleasure watching you work. Makes the " Big G" look like it came from China. Beautiful finish. THANK YOU!!!!!
I just finished watching every one of your videos on this Strat build. What a wealth of knowledge. Saying thanks seems hardly adequate. I'm building my first electric guitar now and I've noticed I've been coming back to your videos for pointers often. Hard to believe anyone would dislike your videos either. The only thing I would have asked to be included was how you wired the 5 way switch (the theory/logic behind the wiring to get the different tones) and the tone control. Everything else was extremely well documented and explained... These will be reference videos for me for a long time no doubt. Extremely appreciate your work in doing these videos and edits... no doubt you doubled the time it would take to create this beautiful guitar.
Thank you so much for sharing another build. Its intersting that you said "we" are all done because I feel like I have been part of the build process ever since your first upload in September.
I'm an entry level guitar tech at a music store. I appreciate running into this video and your quality recording and sharing your knowledge...thanks :-) I learned a lot on this video!
David, You are a true craftsman. I spent the whole day watching the Stratocaster video diary. I am a former union cabinetmaker, local 724 out of Whittier, CA and I now work as a Production Manager in the film industry, and as a wood worker and a filmmaker I was thoroughly impressed with your skills as a luthier and as an instructional videographer. I can't wait to see your next project. Thank you for sharing it was a great way to "waste" the day.
Well guys, I am now the lucky owner of David's handcrafted Strat. It is truly a beautiful instrument and has the most amazing tone. It has copped a lot of use over the weekend and I am glad to say that it has even grown on me since picking it up. I've owned many guitars over the years from Rickenbackers, Gretschs, to Les Pauls to Fender Strats. But this is my favourite, made more special by the fact that its build is so well documented. Thanks David!
Today I spent nearly all day watching your 10 videos building a Stratocaster you are very very good I admire your precision and the end result is amazing well done and be proud you deserve it and thank you for sharing with us
All guitars should have as much love and care put into the build, this is a work of art. I couldn't afford to get you to build me a guitar but I loved watching the whole process anyway. Maybe i'll try myself one day.
I just finished to watch all ten episodes of this guitar build and I am totally amazed by it. I'm definitely going to build a guitar on my own one day after seeing this! Thank you very much for this video!
I just watched the 10 steps integrally, that was awesome. I think you can say you gave me a kind of vocation. For days now, from the moment I began to watch your videos, my one and only thought is to build my own guitar from scratch ! Your work is such a piece of art, and we can feel the love you give to the instrument in your vids. Thanks for all, and see ya soon because I feel that I'll need some advice in a few moments ! Pierre-Edouard from France.
Sitting in Byron Bay on holidays watching first class luthier videos. No surf happening but still happy and entertained. Thanks for the video

I just wanted to say thank you again David for the very well done video instruction. It has been so appreciated by myself I cant begin to tell you. I just wanted to drop you a short letter introducing myself and asking you sincerely for perhaps a little of your time, expertice, high level of skill, and gems of wisdom on occasion. It is literally you David and a few others that I am apprenticing with. And I was hoping that you might be kind enough to help me time to time. Cheers mate
Love the Aussie twang... I live in Melbourne but lived in Sydney for 16 years... This is by far the best series build I have seen on KZread... You explain every detail so well... I am about to start my first build in the new year... The only part I am not attempting is the neck at the moment so have bought a pre made one... I have also found a guy in Melbourne not far from me who winds his own pick ups so I will be getting the Hendrix set from him... I was going to go with Duncan's, but will have a look at these first... Your video's have taught me so much and I thank you for that... One can only try... That Strat is amazing... Cheers Antony...
You are the best instructor on KZread - best builder, great tips and info. You are a Master Builder!
Such attention to detail, you won't see that from the Fender custom shop. That instrument is flawless, absolutely beautiful. Also nice camera work and instructions.
Mr. Fletcher you are a true artisan. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful build. Can't wait for the next one!
I just finished building my first guitar and I worked off this video series as best as I can. Mine doesn’t look anywhere near as good as yours but you have inspired me to keep making them. I hope one day to make a guitar half as good as the ones you make. Thanks for this fantastic series!
Makes me really appreciate guitars whenever I go the local music store and walk by the slabs of wood. Thanks mate. :)
I watched the entire build. Mesmerized! Beautiful! Thank you; you are a master.
Oh, my that really is a thing of beauty. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, thank you! 🤘
Just watched all the vids again 2 yrs on. Amazing craftsmanship. I really hope this guitar gets played every day by whoever bought it.
out freaking standing. I just watched all ten vids of this build and loved every bit of it. thank you for filming it and sharing it. again out freaking standing.

Watched all the videos through from start to finish. It was really great to see the personal techniques of an absolute wizard like yourself. Guitar making really is where art meets science. Thanks so much for putting the time into filming a great build like this. Looking forward to the next one!
It’s been a wonderful experience watching this guitar being built I just lucked into your site yesterday and will continue to watch other episodes for sure 👍
The best craftsmanship and attention to detail I have seen in a guitar build! Had no idea there were so many specialized tools. My only complaint - wish you showed how you did that magnificent paint job, especially the black edging.
Fletcher, that was amazing! I just watched all the 10 films and it was really awesome! I can just thank you for sharing your techniques and such a knowhow. I am pretty sure that everyone who has watched this series will pay more attention to many details when buying a new guitar. Excellent job (for the videos) and excellent job (for the guitar). Thank you!!
David, I was just setting up my workshop ready to make my first stratocaster when I discovered this series. You have kept me enthralled for several evenings and I have learnt so much. You are a true craftsman and great presenter. Can't wait to get started now. Many thanks for taking the trouble to do this series. Tom (UK)
incredible guitar, looks beautiful. I love how much detail you included!! Absolutely stunning
Pete, that's definitely the quick fix that many people use and it does the job adequately. Alternatively, you can drill the offending holes out with a slightly larger drill bit and buy some solid wood dowel the same diameter and glue those in for a perfect fit.
Wow..... You're an artist plain and simple. Its also really smart for your business selling these. Im sure most guys who sell at your volume are 10/10 but its always tricky if someone wants to resell. But its clear in these 10 that you're up there with Leo himself.
Watched all 10 episodes, great craftsmanship, excellent use of templates and not too many big machines for a change! loved the set up at the end going to do that to my Strat right now. Thanks a lot
Thank you, David, for sharing this process with us, including your narration and tricks of the trade. Not only does this increase my appreciation for the electric guitar, but I now have much more respect for the craftsmen that build them (and craftsmen in general), particularly those who do the work by hand. Your concern for quality and detail is admirable. Beautiful work! Enjoyable videos! God bless you, mate!
Awesome, that's what I needed to know. Around 13 minutes in part 8. Thanks for your videos and time, they have made this build possible. The best "How to" videos I have seen.
Also watched this from the start, every second of the films. You are very talented, making even invisible details to perfection...it was a pleasure to follow this build!
The greatest build videos on the internet, thank you so much for posting these
Really great sequence of the build process. The amount of time and patience going into this is quite something. Really is a work of art.

I've watched a lot of strat build videos on YT. This is the most informative and efficient video bay far. Thanks for your time and effort.
This is the very best hand making guitar videos I've ever seen. If you're musician, this what makes life so enjoyable to all us. The making itself is full passion and soul. Excellent work and videos Mr. Fletcher.
David, Excellent work! It's refreshing to see people that really and truly do care about their work and have the passion for it and are willing to share their knowledge with others! Take care!
Watched parts 1-10 straight through last night. Amazed at your attention to detail and woodworking skills, dread to think how many hours this actually took to build. My cat enjoyed the sounds of the Aussie birds too, think it confused her a bit though. If I ever win the lottery you'll be getting a call!

One of the beautiful Strat I ever seen in my life, thanks for the 10 part videos, its nice to watching. greetings from Poland
This is some of the most detailed workmanship, craftmanship, and plain attention to detail I have ever seen. I would buy this guitar or anything else this gentleman makes without hesitation. Not to mention he has the entire thing documented on HD video. I love youtube.
I watched all 10 parts in a row!! I’m gonna rebuild a cheap Ibanez I learned a lot from you! Thank you for the videos!
Hey, David. I just wanted to tell you just how much I enjoyed watching this series. You answered so many questions that I had. The result is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. I think Stevie would have been proud to play it. Thanks again. -Ray
It was a great pleasure to watch this series of videos. Me and my wife really enjoyed. Congratulations, greetings from Brazil!
I watched all 10 parts of you building this guitar. To say that I'm impressed would be an under statement. It truly is a pleasure to watch someone who knows what they are doing and be able to explain the process so well. Bless of luck in the future.
Hey David, I just want to thank you for sharing this video series. I watched the whole thing from start to finish in one go and was completely engrossed the whole time. As a weekend guitar builder myself i found some of your tips, tricks and methods invaluable. I have subscribed and am looking forward to your future builds. All the best from Brighton UK.
Just finished watching the whole series of this build. Love every minute of it. Really contemplating building a guitar for my final project for Industrial Technology. Won't make it exactly the same but close to it. Once again really cool guitar and series and thank you for the inspiration.
Really impressive... One of the best Luthiers I've seen in my life
Fabulous video and so enjoyable to learn how the build from beginning to end was explained. I learned so much ! Beautiful job and guitar ‼️
finally finished watching this, wow.. I wish everyone that builds guitars puts that much attention to detail into their work.. amazing job,
Amazing build - you do such a brilliant job and then take it to another level. Can't praise it enough.
Wow man that series of videos was exquisite, thank you. I work with people with physical disabilities and i run a woodwork class and we are building a replica strat with very soft inferior wood but my guys have loved your videos. my brother is a cabinet maker and he says he is very impressed with our project so far. Thank you for sharing your incredible skill, patience and love of your craft with us and the world, much respect, dave.
Just watched all 10 videos. I am truly amazed at your work. I just began work here in the United States for a custom guitar builder called Zane guitars and wanted to see a process of how guitars are made from start to finish. All of your videos were excellent with great detail. I will definitely be watching more of your videos.

Fantastic video's. It was great to see how a craftsman builds a custom guitar from start to finish. 10/10
I just watched all of them in a row. My head hurts. But what a pleasure to watch such a fine craftsman.
Very interesting, I am a retired Jig Borer used to close tolerance work and your attention to detail was most impressive especially the final set up using dial gauges.
That's one of most full and honest videos how to make a guitar that's better than a factory one! And it also shows that specific tools by stewmac are really helpful to a luthier =) Thanks a lot for your videos!
An absolute beauty of an instrument. I also watched all 10 parts consecutively and loved every minute. Fantastic work!

Fantastic craftsmanship, really nice to see a luthier who takes great pride in his work. This is the kind of instrument I would happily pay good money for. Thanks so much for documenting this.

Thank you for sharing these videos! Your workmanship is outstanding. As a Strat player I appreciate your attention to detail. Your finish work on the body is amazing. Keep up the good work!
Looks great! Love the grain in the neck and headstock! It turned into a really gorgeous guitar! Nice work!👍😎🎸🎶
That is the most amazing thing I have ever seen come from a tree. Great build lesson. Beautiful craftsmanship.
This was an excellent and informative set of videos. The attention to detail is simply staggering. Were most people would have said "screw it that won't matter anyway" you didn't and it paid off in the work of art you created. Precision measuring, hand sanding and polishing and getting everything into spec was a pleasure to watch. You would make an awesome engineer with that kind of attention to detail. Building things like this and car engines and guns and so forth, basically anything that requires precision you would be awesome at. Thanks for posting these. I can tell you from the stuff I have done similar to this that this type of work takes a good amount of patience and time and is not at all easy. Excellent job.
