Da Czar! This video gave me the final edge needed to be a great defender off and online. Between Oct 4th and Oct9th I was ranked 3rd on the 360 online blacktop. When i failed on defense I thought back to the lesser known tips in this video and usually made a stop the next play. Now if only I could learn to defend the damn baseline

@3y3Eagle Eagle I have talked with 2k about lowering the base shooting percentages If they follow threw on that you should have much more success online. If the base percentage is too high then shots fall even with great defense. That doesn't mean you should stop playing great defense tho. If they adjust it you will be ahead of the game.

@Westwindization I agree. The game rewards you for smart opportunistic play. It gets everyone into a rhythm and anyone who aren't prone to shooting accurate for your teammates suddenly catches the bug. When you turn over too much, the AI CPU gets into a rhythm as well and even their streakiest shooters starts torching you from downtown.
@DaCzar12 жыл бұрын
@11mrichman In the post there are counters as well. for instance if he is backing you down push against him to stop his back down. for spins once you see which way he is spinning you move your stick in that direction as fast as you can and you can cut him off. For aggressive backdowns move away with your defender and you can pull the chair and make him fall.

@DirtyMoney410 When you've got a hang of the defense I told you about, you should be able to beat the heat more often than not. For dribbling, I would just say keep your distance from the defender in the half-court and when you're bringing the ball up, just keep the ball moving and keep it away from the hacking defender. Always note what side from where the defender is trying to steal the ball from you, then just put the ball in the opposite hand. Use Y to protect the ball from hackers

@precise40 Dzar You didn't mention 1 important thing.It's kinda offense,but it applies on how to defend CPU from easy points on fast break which is killer in 2k12.This year FINALLY smart basketball is rewarded.To limit CPU fast break points you have to take good shots, use machups that are in your favor etc.My 1st win on HOF,Sim were when CPU only had ~6 points of turnovers and smth like 10 fast break points.Play strategic, smart basketball and Try to get your turnover number under 5 in a game.

Czar if you can elaborate on forcing the ball handler into another animation, when you chest bump him or for him to pick up his dribble, you know what causes this, and who do you go about doing so. I had an online experience where the guy had this down pat, he was actually undercutting my dribble as if he was going for the steal and made me stumble and just lose the ball out of bounds off of me!! Thanks in advance

@gshooting12 жыл бұрын
@DirtyMoney410 Yeah I hate that crap. You might not want to do 100% on-ball defense, because switching after every pass lags your defense, and so for a split-second, you're a statue. This is particularly important, because the majority of online users, just pass and then pump fake and drive constantly, even if you never fall for it. Also, if you can manage to get the "bumping/riding animation" when they're agressively driving, if your defender is smaller than the attacker, hold B to get a charge
