Today I'm facing my fears and trying Helicopter Underwater Evacuation Training. This training is used to qualify military, oil riggers, and other jobs in required safety protocols.

I think maybe the title of this vid is the problem. If he specified in the title that this is apparently used to qualify military in safety protocols (as stated in the description), then i think it would maybe have gotten more views

Congratulations btw I need to get in a video with Airrack or Matthew Beem lol
The support and calm tone you used while he's treading water for the first time is definitely a factor in his calmness. You would be an amazing trainer, professor, teacher, something along those lines. You have that ability to convey what they need to do in a calm yet reinforcing tone that not many people have.

I love the water; grew up on the beach, joined the Coast Guard and I proud of both of you. You both did great just stepping forward to overcome your fears and were able to remain calm and succeed. Bravo Zulu.
As a SAR swimmer I can attest that this is my least favorite qualification. Thank goodness for the emergency breathing device 🙏

@@1ice3690 it’s just a long training pipeline. You need to be physically fit and have the capacity to study and remember a wide range if things. 100% worth it though!
The sinking helo, i just can't imagine that intensity and stress. I'd be freaking out. Austen, you seemed so calm throughout, even when you were caught up when trying to exit....
Ironically, this is called "flooding a phobia" as a technique in behavior therapy. Great job man, very well done! And kudos for the grit!

You flew to Louisiana to help another person with their fears? You're definitely one of the good guys!
Great video Austen. This editing is superb!
Thank you 😊 Austin 😊 for this video, thank you for your service.
Excellent information
I've done this Helo Dunker Training when I was in Japan. So fun! Only difference is we had to escape and get the breathing apparatus, go on air and then come up. I'm not a huge swimmer, but even I passed it. Good times!
Just came across your channel, good stuff, looking forward to pouring through your content, i enjoy learning things that are military, as a lot of those skills are very helpful in life. Never got in because of reasons that are fair enough, but i still endeavour to live my life taking leaves out of the books of military personell and learning.
2:26 I love the sun on the side of the pool. It had me rolling LOL 😂😆🤣

Right? He may not be a great swimmer by any means but the dude swam on camera. Someone who actually can’t swim ain’t gonna willingly venture into the open water nor will they be able to tread water for anything close to 2 mins.

Sweet! Did this at nas Pensacola but it was a little different. We did 2 dark 3 light and 1 dark and 2 light of those with the HABD bottle. Good shit Austin Hooyah!
I’ve done this for offshore training called T-HUET. Seatbelt and window in for 2 rounds and then seatbelt window out for 2 rounds. 4 times flipped upside down in a helicopter shell lol. Pretty fun stuff.
You dis really well
I wish I could be trained by Austen.
Done this a few times but we had vests on with stass bottle on ! (Very small oxygen bottle with mouth piece attached) ! Also wore dry suits ! We also did 180 rotations with no lights on in pool or pool building !! Such fun !!!
I’ve done the HELO dunker twice now and it does get easier, however I can’t say I’ve ever looked forward to doing it though it does serve its purpose
Much easier than the one in the Marines. But still cool other people do the training as well!
I knew I recognized this. I literally watched Airacks video yesterday
Epic video!!

Great video Austen. I can swim 🏊♂️. Grew up with a pool in our yard and on boats all the time. Still my greatest fear, is to drown. Manual did great 👍 you did an awesome job giving him support 👏 When you said you would kiss him later 💋 and he said that you are being weird again...lol 🤣 I'm wondering what you did before that he thought was weird 🤔 😄😅🤣🤣😜
Can you show us Master at Arms Training? And I really interested in seeing Riverine Training. Thats a relatively new thing for the Navy.
My dad had to do the part with the helicopter evac because of his job offshore
I live in Simi Valley I’m a big fan I hope one day I can see you
Austen is
RESPECT
I had to do UET and it’s a bit harder than this because we have to go under and get flipped 5 times.
I'm a floater. I found that out years ago, when I would do pool service. Sometimes you would have to dive down to the main drain cover to take it off, when it was full of water. The supervisor that I worked with, could dive down and stay no problem. I kept floating back up, it was really hard for me to stay down. As he would say, I floated back up like a Styrofoam float.
That sign at 2:26 😂😂
I'm definitely not afraid of water, but being tide up under water, or anywhere else for that matters, does'nt sound appealing at all!!! makes me wanna try it though... I'm not usually the panicking type and it's a control environment, sounds interesting to try and see how it would make me feel.
You should do the New York Fire Department Jarpat. Highlight this yall
5:39 the slick right face 🇺🇸
water is his biggest fear but went into the navy….😂😂
I did a similar qualification for the Marines and it was a nightmare for me. Took me two attempts to get it lol

My dad was with that unit, he’d been bumped off that helicopter and put on the one behind it. It’s crazy whenever he describes the crash and it’s a miracle he wasn’t on it.

Navy…. fear of water….. confusion
Good luck and follow your dreams sweetheart 🌹
Can’t swim but swims off after two minutes
That's all you can do, learn from the mistakes of the past and learn to survive them in controlled circumstances. Very sad that marines lost their lives, but will not be in vain if people can leanr from it, amd learn to escape a downed drowned helo.... I have to admit, the underwater helo training looks pretty damn scary. Especially if you are claustraphobic.
Airrack is my favorite KZreadr help me get his attention
