Hi Tom jay here. I can only imagine the stench in that pit at the bottom. That lock is cool and glad you got a mixed bag. Here’s hoping you find a pit full of Hutchison’s cheers

Ha, Tom Askjem. I was wondering if you could put together a video for us, on how to locate, and find areas where we might think to find antiquities. School us in one of you videos. Love your videos, and the items you dig up. Thanks for sharing them.

Love railway pits, this was no disappointment either. The ornate panels are going to look fantastic somewhere, even a fireplace. Happy weekend young men, enjoy.
That is really amazing you found that old 1900s Freight car lock, that is a real gem of a find 👍👍👍👍
Enjoyable as always. Excited to see those 'architectural' elements. I'd be done once I hit the water table.

hahaha yeah...... its usually a bummer once we get into the water. for some reason these depot sites are always in an area with water like 3 feet down. maybe it was because they needed viable wells to get water for the steam trains back in the day..... it always smells awful too!

Tom a phenomenal dig, it looked exhausting trying to pull them out. Tons of bottles, a few nicely embossed. The two pieces of pattered stone were amazing. I hope you can repurpose them at home. Wonderful dig, great video work Jake.👍👏😀
I like how you get in there and dig and you ain't afraid to get dirty
I love watching dig through our past

That Weller bottle is gold!
Wow, an amazing dig! That clay made you work for those treasures 😊

Tom ? You gotta do a video on your personal bottle collection.. oh yeah and keep rocking all things! N.t. nor cal
I think its so cool you use That Chapter Intro music 🎶. Coolest padlock found ever!
When you pulled the bottle made at the glass works in Alton IL it gave me memories of my Grandfather and an Uncle. They both worked there. Thanks for the memories. You know your glass bottle history for sure.
You got me obsessed with bottle collecting, up to 200 yikes! Thankyou for the awesome videos!

yeah those were really something else. the biggest bummer about these digs is that all the metal stuff is usually so corroded over the years. but when its under the water like that, they seem to rust a lot slower
Amazed at your eqanimity in dealing with wet clay and other uncomfortable situations. In my landscaping days, I moaned all day with wet clay sites. 😢
Love watching your digs.
We get excited to see what you find! Thank you for teaching us ! :)
Watching your video from the comfort of my apartment here in St Petersburg FL.... You aren't put off by hard work... Enjoy your site and your calm and mellow narrative describing the bottles as you pull them out... I'm subbed because of the content and the camera work involved... Prayers for your safety and your success in your area of expertise.... You do research and find the out of the way places to dig.... Thanks,Tom and the people behind the scenes... success and prosperity!!!

All those bottles and digging in the muck and I am glad you got at least one soda bottle Tom! I would like to know what was in those oval panel bottles with the splayed open top too,,interesting eh? great but messy dig guys! I look forward to the next!! take care!
Wow a surprise time capsule! Thats an amazing look back in time actually. Makes you think about the lives of these people and what it must have been like.. and remind us that someday our random belongings and things will probably be dug up after we are long gone.
Awesome dig. Would love to see that Weller bottle and the decorated concrete pieces cleaned up. Great job!
Great to see you again love your videos ❤
awesome fines and leaf panels killer thanks
I have been collecting botes here & there since I was kid. Nothing super serious, but when Im out any where & I see something that hrabs my fancy, ill pick it up or buy it. Im 54 now. This young fella found 5x more bottles in this here pit try hen my entire collection. Love it! Id love to be able to do something like this. The walls of his house must be jammed packed with the best of his digs. I love KZread.
Super nice finds!
I really like the train station architecture pieces you found. Growing up in the 50ss & 60s I had two aunts that had hand pump wells and out houses. One had a big enamel ware basin and a ladle for getting a drink of water. My brothers and I thought that was really keen.
So interesting, the lock thing was a great find .. hope you get a Lot for youre finds ....

Great dig. Loved the lock and pipe. Always very informative. I learn so much from your expert knowledge. Thank you. Maybe those small bottles were some kind of soda syrup. Just a thought. Also loved the decorative concrete trim pieces. Great history. Peace.

Hi Tom, got down and dirty on this one lol. Love seeing an item from Louisville, Ky. , thats where I'm at. Love watching ur channel. Ive learned a lot from watching u.
I can always tell now when it’s a stinky pit is by your breathing, I’m literally sitting here holding my shirt over my nose. 😂 Thank goodness for your determination to save these bottles.
Please go back there again that's cool that was awesome fine
Saw clay marble when you dig and saw plate white near you. Congratulations found over hundered glass bottles. 😊
When I was a kid in Maryland, I was playing in a creek next to an old railroad when I found a large brass lock in the water. It was from the Pennsylvania Rail Road Co. from 1910.
I love that Wellers bottle.
Love the Peruna bottles! Also, Tide should sponsor you…that pit was especially gunky.
Well done ! U must be one of the original diggers and still pull out more than anybody !! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
You must have a huge bottle collection !!!!
I guess after this pit they could call you the extract wizard...
So do you sell these bottles? Because I would LOVE to have some of these! ❤
Love that fargo bottle I would love have bottle like that
Incredible
I don't have the inclination to go adventuring myself anymore, but It's sure interesting to go with you ! Thanks !
Awesome vid.
That switch lock is killer!
Cool they put the corks back in. Ive been digging in NW Alaska near Council. So much glass but because of the huge freezing temps, so many are broken.
Wow I love that piece of stone with all that beautiful printing on it. That padlock was awesome . you found a lot of beautiful bottles. Tom I bet you was really for a shower after all that muddy pit. I dont see how you get your clothes clean .but I love your videos.❤❤❤❤
Man,,, Weller 107 !! Me and the 107 have done battle a few times.. lol
1st time viewer here! I just subscribed! Extremely interesting!! Well done video! Look forward to seeing more!! ❤
Wish i could have seen the pipe cleaned up. Looked like a rough dig with all the mud. Lots of interesting finds.
Reminds me of Heroldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault. Lots of bottles. That went on endlessly as well.
You must live in North Dakota, I use to be a driver for six years for Great Plains transportation out of Mapleton ND ,I've been all over these lower 48 and all over North Dakota for sure
I just found your channel. It’s wonderful! Very interesting!! Do you ever show your collection once it’s all repaired and cleaned up? 😊
Holy cow! You were seriously neck deep in mud on this dig.
Can you grow undigested seeds? I know tomato plants would often grow along railroad tracks when waste was dumped from them.
@BelowthePlains
4 ай бұрын
I have actually been told that a tomato plant popped up in a yard about a year after we left. i didnt verify it myself, but the guy had no reason to lie... i doubt he even knew there were seeds in the pit. so i do think that its possible. but i would guess it would have to depend on a few factors, like depth, moisture and temp over the years. if the factors all add up, i wouldnt be surprised if a seed was viable after +100 years.... gonna have to try it out for myself sometime
@tott3457

I wouldn’t think so, acid in your stomach would harm the outer body of the seed. 🤔
I would give my right arm for that railroad lock!!! Way Way Cool!!! God Bless Us All!!!
I just found your channel and enjoy watching your digs. My forbears came from ND and SD. Some family members went to Yankton College in the early 60s. Your digs let me imagine a little about what life might have been like for my grands and great-grands living in a sod house on the SD prairie. Amazing to me that back in the 1880s to 1910s they had goods available to them from both the east and west coasts, manufacturing centers in the Midwest, and even Europe. Wish I could do a dig with you. Would love to see something from around Bismarck, Moffitt or New Leipzig ND areas.

well maybe we will have to head out that way! we have dug a lot of the best stuff in our area and now we've been spreading out. we spend about half of our time digging last summer around minot, and im sure at some point we will make it that way. and if you wanted to contact us, you could follow us on facebook. there are links in the description or you can just go on there and type in "below the plains" ..we have met up with our viewers before and dug places that had, or had them come and watch. i cant promise anything but if we are ever in your area, i wouldnt mind at all. so if you want, you can reach out. Sometimes it takes me awhile to get back to people on there bc we get a lot of messages, but if you message me and mention your message above, then maybe we can figure something out this year. thanks for watching, glad you found the channel!

That bottle of Peruna from Columbus, OH as a nice find. A lot of beer bottles from Newark not far away.
Would have liked to see that pipe once it was cleaned up. Fascinating video, thanks!
How do you wash them up? Do you have a special technique?
@BelowthePlains
4 ай бұрын
well.. the outside is pretty straight forward.. but the inside usually requires a coat hanger, a brillow pad and a decent chunk of time. but if its really bad inside, we will use muriatic acid, let it soak for a day, and then anything caked on will usually wipe right off.. not gonna lie, its not a fun job especially when you have a few dozen that need cleaning. thanks for watching!

@@BelowthePlains Thank you for replying. Interesting. Maybe sometime you could do at least a part of a video on the not so fun cleaning of them. It might be educational for those following in your steps. Also, what you end up doing with them might be fun to see.

haha well maybe i can help! we keep the good stuff and we usually give the more common stuff to the homeowner. some of it gets donated to museums and historic societies. and if its newer stuff then we will usually just rebury it. thanks for watching
Nice dig
You should keep that concrete floral header, for your collection. Super cool! Except for that prehistoric Indigenous Indian stone pice you found previously, which I think IS your best find ever (like, what were the chances of it ever being unearthed once a person dropped it into a railroad pit, over 100 years ago?!) Keep the artifact out in the elements though cuz it is stone. The concrete piece will clean up nicely! The historical glass bottle pieces that you find from the Territory era are super cool! Wonder if Peruna was similar to Jagermeister?
I can't help but picture the people up in Heaven, watching you dig up their garbage..... Can almost hear Pa say "Look Ma, our junk became a hidden treasure" and Ma replies "Look how much that boy knows Pa, wonder how he got so smart". OMG I'm so easily entertained. ❤Thank You❤
