This may be widely known, but my son and I were playing today and found a glitch where you can drink coconuts and then take the empty drinks and make a pile with them and when you pick them back up out of the pile they are full again. So we have infinite water!! Hope that helps someone because it's helped us for sure!! Love the videos bro!

Glad to bring you some more applicable content! I've been wanting to do one for a while, it's just the looming fear of the speedwalking glitch being patched out and cementing the glitch allowed times in place that was driving me to do so many of those. That and whenever Agoork beats my record... which should be here in like what... 2 or 3 days now lol

@@speedydeep yeah I can relate more to this type of gameplay aswell as any new player to stranded deep. The speed glitch is more fun for the individual rather than the audience in my opinion 😉 I personally feel like the speed glitch ruins alot of what stranded deep is all about as it takes alot of the danger out of situations and makes runs easier to complete. Not to take anything away from any good times you've had with the speed glitch runs, alot of game knowledge goes into those I'm sure and having to think of situations quicker and adapting to RNG variance is a challenge 😑 just this type of speed run is where I'd like to see the competitive runners take the game. More entertaining I'd say 😉 maybe I'm wrong let me know haha

As a runner I'm more personally interested and engaged by the mental challenge of going so quickly and thinking on my toes, the combat aspect of glitch runs is definitely the easiest part. Especially after this glitchless run forcing new habits into me on the lusca fight I expect they will be even easier on glitch runs. Thank you so much for point that out to me though! I need to hear stuff like this to get a better idea of what others want to see and I can totally see things from that perspective. I've got some ideas for a new SD series that should tickle your interest coming up! Seriously, thank you for the genuine feedback!

@@speedydeep Can't wait to see it! Stranded deep is such a beautiful game and has so much potential to be popular! Wish it got more attention put on it. There are things that the game can improve on for casual players like menu scrolling and inventory management but otherwise it's almost perfect . What's your opinion on the random seed generation too? I feel like if stranded deep speed running became more popular in the wider community then a fixed seed would be the best thing to base each run from. Otherwise you'll end up having 1 person get an insane seed that nobody will ever be able to compete with because the islands are perfectly compact and they won't wanna share the seed haha.

@@eximility well that's why we have the fixed seed run and the random seed run. No one's done a random see run besides my own on the old system of a 5x5 island grid, so it was much easier. I"m working on a random see run now, but they can literally take hours to complete even with speedwalking glitches. We, as in Agoork and I, are currently on the quest to find the perfect seed world. I've set up an autoclicker paired with my screen recording to record hours of video of seed worlds being rolled on my computer. On average, you find about 5 POTENTIALLY good seeds per hour, and that's not taking into account where the ending ship is in those 'decent' worlds. So, yeah, someday there will just be the perfect world for speedrunning out there, but no one has found it yet.

I have learned a lot watching your speedrun, thank you for uploading it I loved it. GOAT.

I don't really consider a run using glitches as a speedrun, so it's nice to see a true speedrun of the game. Just a tip for fighting the squid for anyone new that isn't speedrunning. Stick your back right up against the buoy, keep your head above water and throw spears at your leisure, without any risk. For the eel, there's a balcony on the opposite end of the ship to where it spawns from. If you stand on that balcony, the eel will never hit you.

Haha, yeah I low key like TLD more than SD. TLD content got tabled for Lifeslide though, which I'm not disappointed about. I wouldn't be able to put out any super consistent content on it but I might get a few videos out in my intermittent free time. Now the question is do I do Wintermute first or Interloper? Wintermute would be the logical place but Interloper would be more fun, if it would leave some of my peeps in the dark about why I'm traipsing about in the winter woods of Canada lol

I don't know if it's my inexperience with Subnautica but it seems like those speedrunners have even more and more complicated crafting to juggle than I do in SD. you can avoid shark bumps on your raft if right as they are pulling up on you turn a slight bit i've noticed it makes then rethink their attack and reset back to chasing you

A tip: When fighting Lusca, hang around at the depth of the bottom of the chain. Not *at* the bottom of the chain, but just that depth. He won't dive down that far and will remain in range of your spears.

The range of your spears is the render distance of the graphics, you can literally hit things on the other side of an island if you’re good or lucky enough, so range of spears is a non issue. You can hit lusca from well below the buoy chain. However any action that stops him from attacking you is a glitch, and this is a glitchless run, so I have to fight him legitimately. I do a better version of what you’re describing in my any% runs.

Glitch running, isn't speed running. You did well to maintain the integrity of the game.

Just a tip. You can break crates to get planks and lashing. I saw you throw them after you said you still needed a plank scrap.

Yeah at the time of this video that either wasnt a thing yet or had just recently been added to the game so I wasnt remembering it.

Youre aware that hacking an empty box will give you one scrap planks and one lashing each (afaik introduced with update 0.80)?

Lol! The planes' a junker, for sure; but I think its supposed be more about you learning to fly for the first time, as well. 😃 Gyro's are fairly easy. Station hands use them for managing big herds of livestock. - Something like this old WWII crate, is a whole other realm vehicle compared to todays, electromagic everything. 😅 I used to maintain and fly two Motorfalc's while going through high school, every second weekend. Gave me a cadetship, and put some money in pocket (we were poor). Ended up with over 600hrs flight time by the time I finished school. Planes have only gotten easier to fly; but ya gotta wonder what era the setting is. It looks like the early 1990's. - That would be about the limit for old vehicle learning. Not to mention finding an old junker like that, that's still serviceable. Anyway, good run, I enjoyed watching it and listening to your strat. Onya mnate 👍

Oh man that must have been an awesome side job. I was always given the impression helicopters were crazy hard to fly but I guess a military copter vs a gyro are two vastly different things. I would assume the game is set in the 90s since its loosely based on castaway. And in old versions they had a divers slate that references the diving incident that inspired the movie open water, which also happened in the 90s. I think someone on reddit once pointed out the exact plane model that escape plane is supposed to be and it’s an old ww2 model that was used a lot in the pacific theatre.

@@speedydeep Yeah, I think we called'em "Rex's"; the IJN, Air arm christened them "Shiden Kai". - Back in '96 I came across an old scrap yarder in Northern Australia. He had all sorts; including Spitfires, Hellcats, Goslings, Zero's - and a whole squadron of Sunderlands, that were built in South Australia, during the war. Not to mention a few Aichi's and Rex's. - You could buy (restored) Mustangs and Spitfires, he was making good money on. I nearly bought a G44, in tact; until we ran lights on the substrate and found it was riddled with microfractures. - Killed "the dream" hard! You're right, that choppers are hard to pilot. Crazy torque with a tail rotor ya gotta manage - all the advantages of VTOL, with the charm of a flyin' a pig! - Gyro's are more like motorbikes however. As long as you can wrap your head around fliying, you're good to go.

Awesome run! Would you be interested in doing a play through showing us really cool custom player islands, possibly make a season out of it?

Ok the more I'm thinking about it... the more I'm totally loving this idea. I'm thinking I'll get a list of all of my and like 20-25 other islands I select from reddit and youtube videos and hell, even ones people send me if they want to, number them, pop them in a random number generator and then have my friend go through a randomized map I've never seen before and put them in from top to bottom so I have no idea where anything is. How does that sound?!

Great run! Not to take any credit from you or anything, but I'm curious: Isn't the staying withing the ship (I understand is the same mechanic where you put your back against something and sharks can get you due to small hitbox) kind of an exploit/glitch? Or is it an intended mechanic? Also I was wondering, I've only played the ps4 version, and it was different from this (lanterns are yelow with dimmer light, less space in containers, less islands?)... I'd assume this is a newer version because console is behind... but in my version there is a shorcut to craft the plane parts, so I'm not really sure... Could you clear that out for me? Thanks!

Thanks! None taken, it's a legitimate question. I wish I had a definitive answer for you but I've tried to reach out to beam team on 6 different platforms over the last year or more to ask them that exact question along with several others, and I've yet to hear anything from them. I'd like to think the sharks is on purpose, I mean I imagine if you back up to a rock a shark wont charge you, but maybe thats my wishful thinking for big dumb hungry teeth machines. It seems like an intended mechanic, so I kinda rolled with it, but yeah, waiting on beam team for the answer to that one.

Oh and the plane parts, i think they added a quick crafting option for when youre standing in front of the plane, but at the time of the recording they didnt have that. Console and pc version are different and the gap is widening all the time, from what I understand theres another company in charge of porting and beam team just focuses on the game and new upate implemenration. Frustrating, but hopefully the situation will eventually get rectified and we wont just eventually be playing 2 kinda different games

To me when you are in a shipwreck, I kind of understand the shark not going on the boat to an area no so deep, so I think that might be intended (although I had sharks spawn inside rooms in cargo ships and on land, on islands, so who knows). The back against thing, I've heard is due to the small hitbox the player has, that's why I had doubts if it was intended mechanic or an unintended "side effect". I guess we'll have to wait for the devs to provide an answer on that one :)

@@speedydeep In my console version, they appear in my quick craft menu as soon as I kill any boss, is actually kind of annoying for me, since I dont like them taking space in my inventory until I'm done, and I have mistakenly crafted the same piece several times during a playthrough (and drop it since it takes no rss). I notice crates have more than 3 slots in your version, and not sure if I like the lanterns more or less (yours give more light but its whitish and I liked the yellow thing better). Hopefully it will get updated soon, you seem to have a lot more islands to explore, mine is a 5x5 grid

So the console version appears to be an older pc version, back when we used to have the 5x5 grid. But now we have the big new world update where there are like 46 islands per map, not on a grid, randomly placed around the map. I'm not sure where the yellow lantern light comes from, as far as I know its always been white. Im really glad the plane parts dont pop up as quick crafts for me, since that could royally screw a speedrun. I haven't done a run in a few weeks though, so I'll have to check up on if ours has quick crafts at the plane

Personally, I think glitchless speedruns are way cooler and more impressive. I watched this thinking it was easy but tried it and I knew it was going to take some time lol, I also joined the sd discord. I was also happy to give you an hour and a half of watch time

You yeeted the storage crates and swam around looking for a plank. Don't the storage crates break into planks? If so you could saved massive time if you didn't yeet the crates.

This was before the update where they made crates breakable into planks and lashings, at the time of this run they just turned into nothing. I have failed some runs because i forgot that right after they implemented it though

is there a reason you use the female character? Is she faster than the male character or something?

Haha nah they are the same speed. I'd usually switch genders every few attempts or so in the early days, but most of my best times were with the female character so I just started doing all of them with her. 🤷‍♂️

It is indeed a never ending loop. There’s a lot of speculation that it’s actually the devils triangle, a similar area to the bermuda triangle that is in the pacific ocean instead of the atlantic. Plus, Pacifica as the game calls it, has that ending ship with the plane on it. Someone put up on reddit the exact specs of the plane based on its body type and determined it was an old world war 2 plane that was used widely in the Pacific campaign which tracks with the old destroyer wreck. Lots of little bits of evidence pointing toward devils triangle but nothing concrete

@@unmarkit1027 Beam team is apparently working on “SD2” as they called it. I think I can pretty confidently say aren’t doing anything more for stranded deep. I started a mod group called stranded wide and we are working on all kinds of mods to improve the game. Adding old and new items to the game, improving its performance, making the islands and world bigger, even one to let you actually escape on a cargo ship that sails around the islands. Check us out if you’re on pc!

Amazing! I have been wanting to speedrun this game glitchless for a while now, and this video sets the base! One question though: I play on a Mac (please spare me the comments) and I am not sure how I can change the slots in the containers, I only have the default 3... anyone an idea? Thanks! :)

You need to go into your steam app, library, right click stranded deep, select properties, go over to the betas tab, then under the first selection that (should) say "Select the beta you would like to opt into:", then select 'experimental - highly experimental'. That should set you up to be playing on the most recent build of the game and update when they release a new patch. Sometimes you'll get some funky stuff going on but its pretty rare and pointing out the glitches in the experimental branches helps beam team make the game better so it's actually more beneficial for the community for players to explore the experimental game versions.

I'm on Ps4, I didn't get the trophy for not using the compass so I tried changing the first number in the seed from 1 to 2 and I got 1 directly east, 1 directly west, and 2 in a row to the south, not sure what they are yet or how good the islands around me are but seems pretty easy to find the main things with them being on the main directions and right beside me.

Yeah but you guys are on the 5x5 grid while pc is on the big new world. I know what youre talking about, it was a bit easier to sus out what digits affected what paramaters of the world generation. But with the pc map that has 46 islands per world its a lot more difficult.

They have to catch up to you to bump you. If you’re always moving they have little time to get to you and bump you. They can bump a moving raft but because of the game physics its pretty rare for them to flip you when moving.

in this exact Situation so mad wasted time to kill 2 bosses and just relized we didn’t unlock both of them. Put a full stop to playing the game idk what to do was really looking forward for the joyment of beating it but with this bug it ain’t happening

I believe the sea monsters have eaten the parts you need. That was the ONLY reason I could come up with when I found out...THAT'S what I have to do. Great game OTHER than that. Then you just crash the plane again and can't continue. Spoiler.

​@@speedydeep If you just stay by the chain under the buoy, Lusca doesn't hit you. I'm not sure how much time it saves, but it helps overall.
