I got a straight pipe on my Falcon (4L straight 6) and it's illegal not to have a cat here. I put a resonator unit in it's place that looks exactly like a cat and I've never failed an inspection once XD

@@Bartonovich52 true, subarus are notorious for eating leaking coolant and blowing head gasket, but the 4 and 6 cyl both eat oil . My 6 cyl 05 outback, head gasket blew at 265k.my 2002 legacy, head gasket blew at 179. My dad's 2007 legacy head gasket at 205, he swapped a legacy gt after that. At 3,000 miles I check my '14 crosstrek oil every time and I'm always short and have to add..I still love subarus but I'm nervous to even go look at an sti to purchase but I love those cars

So I did this, was cool for a little bit. Instantly thought I was sounding like a Honda, put a resonator on it and have gotten lots of compliments on the way it sounds. Got alot with the straight pipe too but it is what it is

@@2tp223 i don't know EVERY engine sound, and certainly there might be something I prefer more. However, (considering the turbo version, because without turbo spooling and pushing air out it wouldn't be the same) the peculiar 2f2f turbo rb26 sound is eargasmic

And why do people like these cars? Buy a POS GM car and it doesn’t smoke and has its original head gaskets and will probably destroy this car in the straights. And the number of people who will exceed what that same GM POS will do in the corners with their Subaru approaches zero. Buying a Subaru does not make you Ken Block.

blowing a small puff is normal. my friend has a 2002 sti and its has a decent tune in it. i ride bike so he has asked me a few times to check the exhaust if he does a pull. it puff maybe on the gearshift a small black cloud and you can smell the octane booster he uses. this car in the video drops balls of white smoke. now i dont know much about much but blowing white smoke like that even after the gear change is not good. its a turbo car might be so many things. valve stem seals, turbo, might even have a small oil leak into the exhaust, headgasket and rings. but it should not blow smoke like that. something is fishy

@@intothew1ld2 While "crackle tunes" are a thing, all existences of cackle on a WRX are not due to specifically tuning for it. It is a by product of modification. The purpose is to keep the turbo somewhat spooled during shifts, but also just a result of a rich condition existing in the exhaust.

@@intothew1ld2 that's just dumb, all mods would be useless with that logic. If you put a big turbo on a car and wanted to actually have fun you'd need some antilag, even on smaller turbo cars it's probably waay more fun keeping the turbo spooled up

@@intothew1ld2 lol dude we're talking about turboed cars, once you turbo your car you're throwing reliability out the window - with anti lag or without it. If you care so much about reliability, modifying cars isn't your thing. And anti lag is what makes turboed street cars driveable, the only application where not having antilag might not matter is on a track where you're staying high enough in the revs to keep the turbo spooled. If you only hit boost at 5-7k rpm, you need antilag for the car to actually be fun to drive on the street, because if you're not on boost 90% of the time, what's the point?

@@jovaniortiz8317 No, the Sti has the ringland problem. Supposedly fixed on the 2018+ models. Some theories suggested it is the UEL headers putting undue stress on cylinders 2 + 4, others suggest blowback is a contributor. Regardless, you gotta treat Subbies like RX-7's: everything except a catback or drop-in filter requires a tune. Don't even think about throwing on a cold air intake without a tune.

@@jovaniortiz8317 I went with the newer WRX, put the difference in mods. Can do 350whp reliably, with really good fuel mileage. I get 27 MPG, mixed driving full bolt-on. Zero complaints.

I made a straight pipe for my mates wrx. 3" from the 3" turbo pipe into a 5" tube about the same length as the rear silencer that I removed about 15" long roughly. I slash.cut the tube to make.it look like the pipe I took off. Measured at 1 metre, 45 degrees = 117.1dB Could hear it in the next village 😝

Plenty fast enough for the streets imo , there’s a point where too much power gets unusable even for track usage + not even talking about reliability problems and such...
