Greetings from South Africa. I love the Golf 4, especially with the 1.6l engines. I love how well balanced it is in design between old and modern, leaning slightly more towards the modern side, and I like to think of it as the beginning of the modern golf. The 8v 1.6l engines sound very similar to the1.6FSI engines in the Golf 5 and 6

So is it a fully stock exhaust system without the muffler? Sounds really nice 👌

1.6 8v is 101hp and 1.6 16v is 105hp

Did you remove the cat or did you just make “straight pipe” after the cat? Sounds amazing!:-)

Fredey 2039 just a rear muffler delete, it was too loud, under load it sounded extremely raspy, and the drone was horrible. I ended up putting a resonator in 3 months later, which gave it a smooth deep tone

I've got a 1.4 Golf 4 and I mean I'm too broke to buy another car rn, used to own a 1.6 SE too but that got scrapped because it needed 1k in repairs, I don't know if I should do this to my 1.4 if it will sound stupid or not haha

2Skills4u my advice is to just save for a better car, only reason I did this to this car was because I was 16 and it was my first car and I thought it was cool, although it sounds borderline ok in this video, didn't sound good driving and ts slow

yeah haha that's the thing i hate about my 1.4....it's how damn slow it is, 0-60 in something like 14.5 seconds, this is basically my first car too, owned the 1.6 for about a month until it's mot came up and i scrapped it, paid 200 for the car lmao, bought my 1.4 for 650 and it's just got a new mot until next July but I'm thinking of selling it well before then, bought it in april back when I worked full time at Mcdonald's (never work there) until I quit in May so all my savings from 10 months worth (1.3k+-) went into my Golf and insurance that I pay monthly, I've been thinking into buying an Alfa Romeo 156 once I start a part time job with college next month, much quicker cars and actually fun to drive, I'm turning 20 in September but only moved to the UK in 2016 so I somehow pay extra on insurance just because of that smh lol

2Skills4u any gti model with a tune is quick, went in my mates mk5 210kw gti and its pretty fast for a small car. Owned a VR6 golf, super fun car, feels fast inside the car because its so small, solid suspension and you'll mang around corners well too

Haha I can't buy anything too powerful just yet as I'm under 25 and an "immigrant" in the UK laws (Even though I'm half Scottish, just didn't live there until I was 17) so I have to pay CRAZY amounts on car insurance for powerful cars, this 74hp Golf costs me 1,800 Pounds per year on insurance for only 10,000 miles with a blackbox lol, I have to compare prices for each car etc, the best I could get in terms of power was a 150bhp Alfa romeo 156 which surprisingly is cheaper to insure, 1,300, I can forget 200+hp until I'm atleast 25 though lol unless i spend 3k

2Skills4u 128kw 233nm for a VR6 150ish hp and about 200nm (I think) for a MK4 GTI, not high powerful but quick enough for fun :) I don't know the laws over there, so all the best!

So in the video, it was just the muffler deleted? And whats the size of the pipe that replaced the muffler?

Louis yes just a muffler, it the piping was the same size as the exhaust piping, no bigger, no smaller

Correct, only the GTI had the turbo on it
