Film Synopsis:
Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how five young cultural rebels - armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent - stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world's most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today.

True but to be fair NWA didn't last that long in real life.. Cube bailed not long after they dropped SoC, and the group only released one other album after that (good but nowhere near as groundbreaking as SOC).. Just as important as the group itself was the fact it acted as a springboard for the solo careers of Cube Dre n Eazy-E.. My main complaint is the movie COMPLETELY skipped over the Eazy vs Dre beef.... Huh wonder who made the decision to leave that part out 😂🤣

I was 17 when the song released. It was such a comment of rage and frustration and the album was a wake up call to all of the USA to what life felt like in the hood. Sadly, instead of it waking people up, it got glorified for profit instead of being used as a tool of engagement for positive change. Somewhere along the way, the progress in civil rites made through the 60s and 70s got hijacked for profit and we ended up with woke culture and black poverty instead of better outcomes for the grandchildren of the revolution.

@@dyrtybarstud5261 nwa lyrics are so raw and powerful at the time some radio stations hated playing west coast gangsta rap especially during the early 90s; opening night it felt like everybody put their guns down and just went in high a*f to enjoy the movie as a stoner like Eazy I was stuffing my face with popcorn and BIG a** smile across my face

If Jerry was never a part of the story, who knows maybe Eazy would still be alive, Suge would probably still be a security guard at the club, and death row would've never happened and maybe Tupac would still be alive. Idk about Biggie though, because I'm sure that hit on him was not coz of the West Coast/East Coast beef. It's just people in the wrong place at the right time. Just 1 man changed an entire future.
