I'm old enough to remember when Stouffer's frozen dinners were really good then Nestle bought the brand and everything was downhill from there. This keeps happening with small family owned frozen food companies. The large multinationals make them an offer they can't refuse and quality is the first thing on the chopping block.

Wrong about pot pie. I've tried them all and Stouffer is the best by far. Best results are splitting the difference between oven and microwave directions. Cook in microwave for half the required time and finish in oven to crisp up the crust. Grandma's chicken and rice bake was one of our go-to's for years but they changed the formulation last year, and now it's not really edible.

Tried the chicken marsala two days ago after not eating for 3 days due to having no appetite because of COVID, was looking forward to this in a major way. First, there is no possible way one could use what cooks up to make ANYTHING that resembles the picture on the box, which I find incredibly misleading. Also, when I went to stir it 1/2 way through, they could have literally put this in a container half this size as it didn't even come up to the halfway mark of the container. Portion size was surprisingly small. You'd need a magnifying glass to find the mushroom specs in it. 3 giant chunks of chicken which need to be quartered unless you're the type who simply likes to each your way through oversized chicken chunks with no noodles with each bite.

The Salisbury Steak's mac and cheese are best when you pull the dinner out of the micro halfway through cooking, pull up the plastic, and sprinkle it with garlic powder and cumin powder, then mix in a bit of shriracha sauce. Then cook it rest of the way, with the plastic OFF the mac and cheese--for about 15 seconds longer than the recipe calls for. That way, that part of the dish is much more flavorful, and much less slimy, than it would otherwise be.

The Lasagna is really good. My Mom always baked for Sunday Dinner when we all came over. She was getting older and wanted to cook but was over -60 so for about 2-yrs we had Dinner at Mom and Dads when we could. My DH and brother would ask in unison what are we having Lasagna and we would all laugh…. One of us would make a Garlic Bread and Salad trying to do something new or something older so it was different But if was always a good family dinner….Several of us brought the wine….😀

“Chewy” chicken in the Escalloped Chicken and Noodles didn’t used to be an issue. In the last few years there’s been a problem with a few chicken pieces always being left uncovered by the sauce during manufacture. Because of this, they get chewy during heating. My solution: after a minute or so of heating, I spoon some of the softened sauce over the naked chicken pieces then continue heating. This keeps them from getting chewy.

The bag it comes in, it was meant to boil in water, not actually meant to cook in the microwave. If you boil the bag in water, it won’t burn. Let the water start boiling before you drop in the bag, it takes 15 to 20 mins, the bag needs to slightly cool for a few minutes before you cut it open.

We never ate Chicken O’LA King over a bed of rice, it was one of those things we ate similar to chipped beef and gravy over bread. There are also tricks and hacks that can make them taste better. Stouffer’s Italiano Lasagna is much better than their regular lasagna. I get a few frozen meals on hand when, I just don’t have the time or energy to make homemade. The stuffed peppers are good, top with mozzarella or provolone cheese half way through baking, if you add your cheeses half way through the baking the cheese will get nice brown and bubbly and not burnt. I also do this with the lasagna and, I sprinkle some raw onion on top before, I eat. Frozen mashed potatoes add a pat of butter and pepper. To the make and cheese, you can add extra cheese over top, again halfway through the baking and this is what, I sometimes do to my homemade Mac & cheese top with panko after you top with cheese. However, you need to cook the panko bread crumbs on top of the stove in a little butter, mainly because, panko is raw and just let it turn brown, it doesn’t take that long. The panko will give it a little bit of added texture.

I think you guys are overly critical of everything usually but I have to agree with most of these Stouffer's calls. To me the only Stouffer's frozen meal worth buying is the meat lasagna. Very tasty and filling. Lots of cheese.

And not including the macaroni and cheese, is a crime !!! It is sooo delicious especially when the cheese gets brown and crunchy around the edges. 😋

This video should be called "I am smarmy and know nothing so here is my stable genius frozen dinner pronouncements" in which I unfavorably compare a $3 TV dinner to a $15 restaurant entree, don't do my research on pepper steak, hold my nose at the best mac & cheese in the supermarket, and say alfredo sauce isn't Italian because it's from Rome. Italy.

their chili con carne was the bomb when it was still stouffer's of solon, ohio. now that nestle' is running the thing into the terra firma, the food is nothing to get excited about. reminds me of how hershey takes over candy companies and then makes cheap versions of their popular items. hell, even klondike bars don't taste the same as the isaly's klondike bars....

Stouffer's Chicken Enchiladas use to be really good, I would eat it all the time. Ever since they changed the recipe to 2X the Chicken it became pure garbage for you can't really taste the sauce and when you cook it and cut it up it looks like dog or cat food so i have never bought one again and never will!!!!

When it comes to frozen dinners. the taste is the test. While a few are quite tasty, many should be thrown out after a couple of bites because they fail to taste anything like what was expected.
