My dad worked at truck driving and he was going to the ship that day the ship sink and 30 minutes before the ship was going the trucks tire popped and he missed that ship

We always remember you estonia! 😔.She was renamed in to a my country.

My dad went on the M/S Viking Sally in the 80s.

Inte för att jag var på Estonia utan en annat fartyg som var ute samma natt som Estonia var på väg tillbaka till Sverige. Men den natten var stormig så inåt helvete. Hela natten som var så sprakade det inne i hytten från radion. Barerna stängde tidigare på den båten jag var på och banden kunde inte ens spela det som de skulle. MEn ja jag kommer inte glömma den natten trots att jag var rätt ung vid den tiden. Jag vet att min mor och far skojade när man var på väg till det fartyg som vi skulle till skämtade om att vi skulle ha åkt Estonia i stället (dock kastade hon loss kvällen innan). Men när nyheten kom om Estonia kom så var alla chockade och jag minns inte vilket fartyg det var men hon skulle inte ha legat i Åbo utan i Hellsingfors. Men det är en massa som man skulle kunna säga men den präglade en del av mitt liv och Nej jag kommer inte glömma den natten

One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video was the Estonia was involved in rescuing passengers from the Scandinavian Star.

My mum and my grandparents cruised with her like 1 week before sinking

One thing i just wanted to mention is that the ship capzised 180 Degrees and people were able to sit on the ships hull, many people don't belive this but it has been proved. A passenger on the ships hull was using is camera flash to get attention and by doing so he accidentally took a photo of the ships propellers and rudder

The ship did not flip because of the tilting it was the crew they tried to save the ship but they capsized it

To survive Estonia you had to be on deck wearing a life jacket when the visor failed.

yes it sunk so fast just horrible and shame the wreck was not rethrieved from shalow waters

I guess all times its been through the rebuildings they did not check over the visor and that's why it broke off that's my theory

I hear it's bad luck to re-name a ship, but that's probably just a superstition. RIP to all the victims and families

Every ship one day stops sailing. Some sadly sink but some are not fit to sail and arent used anymore for the betterr
