Story of an Icon: Omega Seamaster 300 History

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I would like to discuss the relatively short-lived but truly legendary Seamaster 300 from its inception in 1957 to its end in 1969. This runs from the classic CK 2913 with broadarrow hands to the famous military 165.024.

Great video. Thanks for showing the watches, not your face talking to us. Most other watch channels show the hosts 90% of the time, and views of the watch 10%.

Amazing. Thanks. I just got a pre-owned 2017 release 1957 that you mentioned as the first diver near the beginning of your clip. I wish I could have watched your video beforehand. This seamaster 300 looks smaller visually than expected.

A dive bezel has absolutely nothing to do with how much air a diver has left. Dive bezels allow divers to know how long they can safely stay at a depth without getting the bends (decompression illness)!

Incredible video. So how and when did Omega get around the Rolex patent for a screwdown crown? Did they have to wait for the patent to expire before using one or did they find a way around the patent?

I just got my 210.30(the blue one blue one 2018) and I just can't stop looking at it. I keep the steel bracelet off and keep the Nato bands on it to preserve it, its good thing too, since 2 weeks of owning it I've already knocked the case around several times and marred the bezel a bit lol. I love this thing, and I wasn't really aware at the time that it had a big history behind it and it is widely regarded as a better watch(for the money) than the Rolex Sub...nothing but good things to say from me...though I'm a bit surprised I was able to scratch the piece already. I would have thought these high end watches used harder steel, but whatever, it adds character.

73m down would be a bit over 8 atmospheres as you have to account for the atmospheric pressure at sea level of 1. Awesome video though, very informative.

I know I'm 3 years late; however, the internal pressure of a watch is 1 atmosphere. Therefore, delta P at sea level = 0

+TeensierPython: Thank you for the question, the answer to this is very much dependant upon where you live. However, in Britain, I would recommend Jura Watches who are the official retailer for the area.

TeensierPython - My idea would be if you live in Britain is to go to London as there's a new seiko boutique opened recently. Have a long weekend in the greatest capital in the world picking up your wonderful GS and wearing it at a nice restaurant that evening. Just a thought.
