Storms Never Last

2012. Good Stuff in Marshall, NC. There was a good crowd outside, hanging around the picnic tables and smoking. Inside, I met the owner and the bartender. The owner didn't know I was playing that evening, but she was very excited about a band coming all the way from Brooklyn the next night. Mary Sue and I set up, put out the tip jar, and got the show started. For a long time, Mary Sue, the bartender and I were the only ones in the large, well-appointed venue. Then the bartender left. Mary Sue and I still had fun. At some point in the video, she panned the room to show the huge crowd. I made $3 in tips and left it for the bartender. The song was written by the brilliant Jessi Colter. This video was recorded about an hour in to my three hour set.We loaded out of the back door after the show and never went back to Marshall again. That was when I first began to realize that I coulda been somebody, except for that whole "talent" thing.
