STORM GERRIT Causing Chaos!!

It's a case of another week and another Storm here at Manchester Airport as after the chaos caused by Storm Pia last week we were hit by further bad weather in the shape of Storm Gerrit!! It brought about 30 knot crosswinds and very heavy downpours which can cause chaos to arriving aircraft. As you can see in the video, aircraft were crabbing and correcting all the way to touchdown, but in addition to this we also witnessed a go around where the pilots decided that it would be better to reject the landing and try again.

Situated in the North West of England Manchester Airport is a popular choice for holiday makers and business travelers alike. As plane spotters we get treated to many different airlines and aircraft with the amazing ability to see them up close at many locations including Southside, the runway visitor park, the airport pub and many more. We see it all from the Emirates A380 take off to Ryanair landings (you can decide if they're hard landings!). There are few other airports where you can get up close and see inside the cockpit of Etihad airways or a British Aiways A320 all in the space of one morning. We are the best place to catch live arrivals and departures at Manchester Airport.

Nice video. Did you guys know this storm is named after a just-retired dutch weatherman, Gerrit Hiemstra? He's been doing it for 30 years i'd say.

It is, however KZread need to identify it and I think their tools for doing it aren’t great!! We’ve noticed a channel who’s subs grow a disproportionate amount between 0000 and 0200 most nights! It’s tragic tbh.

@@ThinkPlanes It's possible we may be looking at the same one. I just put the channel name into something I had never heard of called SocialBlade. One of the reports is in a graphical format and the growth curve looks like a roller coaster ride ;). So short sighted (imo) as these things come out in the end and then all the hours of genuine effort may count for nought .....
