Storm damage and sunk boat salvage
Ойын-сауық
In this video he have a bit of a storm resulting in one friend losing his boat and another friend having his boat sink. We head out for a while during the storm to look for the missing boat (no luck unfortunately) and after briefly surveying the damage from the storm being to salvage my other friend's sunken yacht. After SCUABA diving to put some slings around the hull Broken Bay Barges lifts the boat to the surface where we begin to pump the water out of it to float it again. It then gets towed to a mooring safe and sound again.

A man who'll drop what he's doing to work like hell to help another. THAT'S a true friend........
KZread comment: Seeing a working clock for the last month still makes me happy. Serious comment: Please stay safe while dealing with this mess.
can't imagine the heartbreak..and sense of frustration..and cost...but what i do see is a sense of community spirit and friendship..
Helping others in need is so awesome to see especially in today’s world of disrespect and self centered mentality of a large portion of society. Glad to see people like yourself who care, doing what you can to help others. Did he ever find out what caused the sailboat to sink?
'A quick checkarenko' just rolls off the tongue hey.. nice work Stu 👍
It gives a sense of hope to see good people selflessly working to help each other. The people around Dangar Island could teach the rest of the world a lesson on what community and friendship means. Good on you Stu!

One thing that stands out in your community is the great friendships and willing neighbors to lend a helping hand anytime needed. Respects! 👍🇺🇸
Nice work Stu, always great to see mariners helping each other out.👍⛵⚓🚤
Heartening to see the help offered and given freely. When this attitude goes, disasters come, and scarily, it is coming.
Wow..that's a mess for sure. Best of luck to all that have felt the ugly's of the storm and hats off to those that have given the time and energies in time of need. Good friends are a blessing !!
You are a good person! It's awesome you took the time to help your friends.

Noble effort Stu! Great community spirit. 😊👍
Much like that boat... Seeing this title pop up in a notification made my heart sink. Glad it find out it wasn't your boat Stu.
Love the sense of community and helping each other!!
Hi Stu, this brought back both good and bad memories. One of the catamarans you photographed was ours. We had only owned her for a few months and had great plans of living on her. We had just returned to Melbourne when we got the news that our dreams were sunk and the loss was total. We had loved coming to the area but were gutted to hear others had broken into her and stripped her of some of our valued possessions. Thank you for giving us one last look at our beautiful boat.

Wow that was some flow that was pushing through there, good stuff with the salvage Stuey 👍🏴

Great to see you back. It seemed like you and Damien got a lot done on Brupeg. Damien responded to one of my comments saying you have MIG envy. Cheeky fellow. Always good fun to see you guys interact. Looking forward to these videos leading up to startup. Looks like quite the list still.... best of luck over the next few weeks!

Sad to see the damage mother nature can throw at us, and glad no one was hurt. Also nice to see a community come together.
I noticed the clock myself, nice to see it’s working. Hopefully all this rain has knocked out most if not all of the fires. I saw Sydney had a rough time with the rain. Stay safe. It’s feast or famine sometimes.
Like how you all work helping each other down there👍
Awesome job on the salvage. Its ashame the amount of nice boats that sank. I am relieved that a few of my mates boats survived around that area.

Cool. Its like Dangar Marine meets 'Adventures with a purpose'.. wouldn't fancy jumping in that water Stu.. definitely deserves a beer. Really nice to see such a sense of community and chipping in together, dont see much of that these days.
I really like the community attitude that exists there. I must admit though you seem to have an amazing amount of confidence in rope on the moorings that I don't have, especially with all that debris coming down.

I was reminded of the verse in the song Proud Mary about people on the river. A real community. Hope things get sorted for you all.
Never a dull moment. Thanks for the video.

How good are the Gauslers ? Best operators on the River ...Refloating yachts, righting houseboats, helping out wherever they can. G’day Stu we could see on tv down here in Tassie that the storms you had were pretty bad, it’s a terrible thing when you see your boat or sum body else’s submerged like that, it’s lucky that he had blokes like you and the barge fellows to give hike a hand to raise it. As you said that he’s gifted in building work that he’ll have her back to where he was, interesting about that pump you were talking about I’ve never seen one, but it’s a great idea. Anyway Stu watching everyone helping him it kind of restores you faith in humanity, Kind regards John

Heart breaking stuff.
First fires, now storms and floods in Aussie land. Hope you all are all right. Your mate needs to put a fan in his raised boat and run it constantly to help things dry out to try and prevent mold/mildew build up. Don't know what all woodwork he's put into her, just hoping it's not a total loss.

@@DangarMarine You should consider the same for Renko. I do like the solution you came up with to remove the flooding on the bridge. Run a line from that hole you drilled straight down to the bilge and let the bilge pumps handle it.

Thanks a bunch.....From Kentucky USA...!
Stu I feel for you folks. We had a historic flood around here last spring, levels that broke records. On a different note, back a few years ago we restored a South wind tunnel dragster. Long story short ending owners son took it out, swapped the boat it sank to never be seen again. I'm talking new engine, rebuild dominator pump with all new interior. I cryed. 🤔😐

Oh man, sorry to hear about the boat. Nothing worse than losing the whole boat after a rebuild. :(
Good to see a little community working together to help one another and exchange 6-packs. A somewhat insular world with a huge moat to keep out the creeps?
Did ya figure out what caused the boat to sink? You are lucky to live where you all look out for & help each other out. Glad everything went well and see you in the next one.
Be thankful for the rain. It’s been the wettest winter here in North Carolina that I can remember but at least it’s been warm enough not to be frozen.

Mostly got away with it then... good deal and nice job. Cheers as always.
@DangarMarine
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, could have been a lot worse.
Moorings don't always hold you in a gale. There is a school of thought that if you are onboard then you are safer at anchor. Moorings are usually close together and runaways damage nearby vessels. Also mooring lines are short and under more stress than a secure anchor with plenty of road. I get it that there was no time to prepare and make secure for this storm. Very sad to see all the damage.
@DangarMarine
4 жыл бұрын
For sure moorings are far from ideal, but I bet if all these boats were on anchor there would have been more carnage. The bottom around here is very soft and doesn't hold that well.
What a nightmare for Andy :/ So great to see people helping get it sorted though.
Great friends always help👍
Sorry to hear about Andy's boat...though as you stated...he's very lucky

Figured it will happen again and I think all spaces on a boat should drain to somewhere that a bilge pump can throw the water back overboard.

Sad to see all the boat damage and glad you escaped. Driving down to the coast after a storm and trying to see if your boat escaped is not a good feeling.
