How can we ensure that we have the bandwidth, insight, and resilience to get through each day and ensure our children will not be permanently damaged by the stressors that plague so much of our society? And how can we make sure our children will not be affected by our OWN stress and anxiety? There are many people suffering today from trauma, grief, and anxiety. Mental health is at a crisis point. But words do not always reach the deep places where hurt can live. In this talk, clinical social worker and play therapist Tammi Van Hollander introduces an expressive approach that flies under the radar that can reach those places that words do not. It’s called sandtray therapy. Be open. Be intrigued. Be playful. Tammi Van Hollander, LCSW, RPT-S is an accomplished author, international speaker, licensed clinical social worker, and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She is the owner of Main Line Play Therapy and has more than 25 years of experience working with children and families. She is a certified Advanced Trainer for the Nurtured Heart Approach® and a certified FirstPlay® practitioner. Additionally, she is as a founding board member of The World Association for Sand Therapy Professionals (WASTP). Tammi is well-known for offering virtual and in-person sandtray and play therapy workshops to clinicians and school counselors. She played a pivotal role in co-teaching the first sandtray therapy class in China, introducing this therapeutic modality to the country. Tammi is an internationally sought-after presenter, and her innovative approach, particularly her Greatness Sticks, has garnered significant international recognition. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Sand Tray Therapy to me is even more important now than ever. Having a resource where emotions can be expressed nonverbally and shared safely without judgement is a priceless gift. This is such a pure and safe way to process and recognize feelings that we are unable to put words to and look forward to the world learning more about this practice and the healing it can provide.

This is a beautiful introduction to sand tray therapy, Tammi! Thank you for shedding light on this powerful practice. It's so true that words alone cannot express what's inside of us. Thank you for being a leader in introducing this practice to a widespread audience so more people can have awareness and access to it for their healing, and especially for the children. You are doing magnificent work!
