About 20 years ago, my wife's grandfather was dying. He had dementia or some form of alzheimer's or something. He was a weird sort of pack rat or hoarder. And he was very secretive. He controlled all of the money for their entire life. And since he was losing his mind, he couldn't remember where he had left anything. They had to hire an investigator to search for bank accounts and insurance policies that he had opened over the years and lost. I can totally believe that he had some storage lockers full of very valuable stuff that he never told his wife about and totally forgot about.
