Wow. This video saved my afternoon. I had just now this problem and my family is coming tonight to visit me from overseas. The frame was stuck i was nearly crying as thought would beeak if push more down. I saw the video, put the matress on top and all was sorted.

This video is just the gift that keeps on giving.. 6 years later and another mom saved from mental breakdown 😂

This literally just happened to me 😂. Was just trying to clean under it, didn’t realise it did this (I’m renting) picked the frame up and it started to open 😅, couldn’t get it back down and then I saw someone say loosen the struts and put the mattress back on and it’ll go down, needless to say it worked 🤣

Just chiming in to say putting the mattress on first did the trick for us too!!

Fantastic suggestion. I had the same problem and when I put the matteress and gave it a bit of push from both sides, it worked.👍

Found a solution - the gas pistons were so stiff they literally wouldn't move a cm, we thought they needed replacing but they didn't - the key is to pull down with both hands WHERE THE PISTON is directly above it with the mattres on top, this way the force goes right on it, and less likely to damage the bed from too much force at the end - this way you can get it moving and doing it on both sides loosens them up enough for it to work properly

You need to apply considerable force to close it. It seems that your frame is made of Alumium, for that I am not sure, whether in long run, it will suatain the brutual force applied everytime, as Alu has tendency to bend eith time n force

Help needed!!! I’m in the process of moving and how the hell do I keep the thing flat?! Is there anyway I can stop the pistons from moving or locking so the bed is closed? Thank you!

I think the struts are too strong on my bed. If I get up in the middle of the night it ejects my wife out the side window! I found her in the morning, asleep out by the picnic table.

Wanted to move bed, so took off the mattress to empty the storage space underneath and could for the life of me not close the lid. Decided to “youtube’ it and the comments here solved my problem. After putting the mattress back on, it closed easily. If only I had known that THAT was the trick, it would have saved me stress and half an hour pushing, shoving, pulling and groaning!!

I've had my bed for 4 years thinking it's broke I'm going to try this next week when I re assemble it 😂

I had the same problem, but it is sorted now: I had tightened the screws that fix the pistons to the bed too tightly, which meant the pistons could not rotate the little bit they need to rotate. Loosened the screws a bit and presto: problem fixed.

Im having exactly the same issue, the bed wont close... tried to losen the screws and put the mattress on top and nothing...just dont close. Can someone help me please??

Brilliant suggestion about laying the mattress on first, we tried it but at first it didn't work, we left the mattress on the bed for about fifteen minutes while we tried to figure out what could be wrong. We couldn't come up with anything else and someone suggested using a bit of downward force on the mattress to get the gas pistons to move inwards. We tried that and voila!!! It worked, I think that the weight of the mattress on the bed for fifteen minutes slowly started to push the pistons in and then the added pressure from pushing down done the trick. So at first if laying the mattress on the bed doesn't work then leave it for about fifteen minutes before adding the downward pressure.

@@anisakhanom7794 Have you tried leaving the mattress on the bed frame for at least 15 minutes, as we tried to force the bed frame down before adding the mattress and it wouldn't budge. Once the mattress had laid on the frame for approx. 15 minutes then a stern push down on the mattress got the gas rods retracting into the cylinder housing in turn allowing the frame to lower into its position. Try leaving the mattress on longer than 15 minutes to see if that works, or even overnight which may help the gas rods to move into the housing a little at a time, good luck.

Try pushing in the direction the mattress is leaning, rather than pulling it down...

No, there is a trick. I had the same problem with such typ of bed. It is important to put the heavy mattress on the slatted frame first. The basic pressure on the gas spring then pushes it down

Mine wouldnt shut even with the mattress on. I can confirm, pushing on the sides of the bed directly above the pistons with a bit of force should do the trick. Once the pistons are eventuality moved for the first time, there shouldnt be any issues going forward.

The mattress needs to be on top before you try to lower it. Otherwise not enough force will be evenly distributed to lower the lid.

Applying pressure directly on top of the pistons worked

Mine is very hard to open. You need power lifting strength to open it. Is there any solution? Arent there any push open kind of fitting so that i dont have to lift it with all my strength every time.

Your bed is either too heavy or your struts are too weak, either way step up to a stronger struts. You're probably using the 100 LB struts, move up to a stronger strut. I'm about to install the 130 LB strut. Depending on the weight of your mattress it may lift with little or no effort.

Sometimes its because the gas struts are defective as the gas is unabled to be released even if there is a matress on top it might not change a thing so the best thing to do is order a replacement gas struts with equal force and height.

This worked, putting the mattress on. Mind, having to put mattress on at that angle had its own challenges.

Guys I found the solution you have to put the wood above weight and 2 people have to press on the 2 ends and it works! + matress to be on if you want for get more weight this is a security systeme

Hi there I had the same Issue There a very few comments in here that state you have to have the mattress on yess, also reading one comment from here. you need to apply pressure down where the GAS struts are. Not at the foot end of the Bed. That's where alot of people are getting it wrong. CHEERS to the guy who suggested that 💯👌

Same with me but mine is worse mine is on the sides

We thought it was stuck and we were afraid of breaking it, but we add more strength and it closed 😊

fixed it by the way.. I just smoked a doobie and relaxed and forgot about it, and next time I went up there I pushed it down no problem.. :)

Put the mattress on and all the bedding, it’s just needs a bit more weight as the pistons are brand new

i tried loosening the screws and it didnt work. Then i added the mattress and voila ! a very slight pressure and i was able to collapse the bed downward

I had this same problem, I resolved it by making sure it wasn’t hitting up against the headboard, test it before you install the hydraulics and two, mounting the hardware closer to the foot of the bed

I m having same problem...tried with mattress along with hard pushed down...

I was confuse, but after watch comments here, i realize everything is fine, just need to pull by hanging my body so can get extra strength...
