i don't normally say anything on you tube i just watch it, but i had to say some thing, well i was just about to get on phone to bensons for beds to tell them there gas pistons dont work until i came across this, i thought it would not work as these were really stuck i even used a rubber hammer and that did not work, so i thought ill give it a go so today before i rang the bed company i put them on and i new it would not work, so i did what the man was doing on here, and i just can't believe it, it worked i just dont no how that is after brute force to get it to work, and after using a rubber hammer, how this mans method work its crazy, so thank you for this, other wise the bed company would have got a phone call from me, and thank you you tube for this being on here..

This is the most useful video I’ve watched! Thank you for sharing this!! At first I wasn’t sure those solutions gonna work but those literally work! I almost gave up for the second push but it took 4-5 times more to go till those pistons got in positions. So keep pushing guys!

Oh my goodness! This actually works. We were moving our bed for cleaning and couldn't put it back down. Neither my husband nor I thought that putting the mattress in would work and thought we would be sleeping on the sofa. Thank you!

@@imaswedishplumber .......Can I? My shocks are both stuck tight, not any movement at all. I got new mattress and looked under storage, I heard it click and now wont close at all. My friends coming by on sun, thats 4nites on recliner ...... Ive slept in worse places, lolol!

@@denisemezynski8014 If they’re actually defective then I’d say get one person to hold the frame up while the other person unscrews the shocks. Good temporary solution until you get replacements in that case. But to be honest, you probably just aren’t applying enough force on the mattress!

Great news

I tried this , my shocks are upside down, not like yours and its stuck with NO ounce of pushback. It wont budge, I got a new mattress took old one out and lifted the bed up to look st storage under bed. Now its stuck, looks like Im gonna be sleeping on recliner till my friend can get here this sun, lol!! Edit; Excellent video by the way, Thank You much!

My one got 4 cylinder,i pushed left and right outer one. Still it does not going down. Already got a full fiber mattress on top of it

Best video so far but unfortunately mine still won't budge. The bed's from Wayfair here in the UK, and these are my second set of pistons/lifts. The instructions have them the other way round, which seems contrary to all instructions out there, so yeah - who knows. Left is raised with the mattress on to see if maybe it'll settle and prime with a bit of time, but not optimistic.

Mine is also stuck and has NO wiggle room at all. I changed mattress, lifted hood to see what storage I had and now hood wont close. My shocks are also upside down like yours, been like this since we bought trailer. Good luck to you!

What about the opposite problem? I have it compressed but now one side of the bed won't lift back up to access the storage.

Some lock if twisted in the closed position. Just untwist if it works. If not it might need replacing. Hardware stores have them and I'm sure it could be found online if you measure the size.

IT WORK !!!!!!!!!!

This did not work for me BUT I wanted to comment to say WD40 will help tremendously too. So if they’re super duper locked and won’t budge even after doing this, WD40 will do the trick.

Probably made for a heavier mattress. You'll need to change the struts out for different ones for a lighter load.

@@augievazquez I just use it without. It's fine. You just need someone to hold it. But for me it's storage of winter clothes for my son ,so that'll only be opened once or twice a year

@@augievazquez The original strouds are 70Kg each side and they would not hold the the bed in the lift position. So i bought 2 120Kg ones and they would NOT go down no matter what i did..I think 100Kg ones would do it. Having said that i seen on You Tube they fitted 150Kg ones so i am just going to leave it.. If u sort it let me know
