Thank you all for the positivity! If you are considering the Go PT Ultra - make sure you install is upside down outdoors to help weather-proof it.

Thank you for the support!
About 10 years ago there was a guy going around trying to sell insurance. He came to our area several times. I told him we weren't interested but he kept coming around and always when my husband was away. The last time he showed up he was looking in our windows and I met him at the door with a shotgun pointed at him and a look on my face that said 'give me a reason'. We put up security cameras on the house, trail cameras around the property and put window tint on all the windows. Oh, and he never showed up again. Due to the nature of my husband's job I'm alone ALOT so I take whatever precautions I must. I also keep a can of wasp spray near my front and back doors just in case someone gets stupid. I bring out the shotgun as a last resort. People are getting crazier by the hour. Stay safe!!
You should post no trespassing signs in case someone falls or gets hurt on your property. Then when they try to sue you they can’t say oh it wasn’t posted.

What I've learned from my own garden is that if you have bare soil, either I plant something or nature will. I like plants like heather for covering large areas I don't want to weed. Anything that will block out the light for weeds and can be easily trimmed back should work.
Ally, A good thing to block holes with is Wire wool, I had a tiny hole under one of my roof slates & found this was the best way to keep the mice from getting in. This yr we have been mice free.

Might I add that next time you install a security camera(s), do not show it in your video (as a safety precaution). And also, maybe it's time that you both consider some "harder" protection. Again, if you choose to do so, then do not reveal it to us. Stay safe and be well, all of you!

Good job Allie. You work so hard. It's nice to see that you can do so much of the work yourself. I am in my sixties and I was taught that if you need certain types of work to be done then you have a man do it. I am ok with that today, because I am in poor health and I need the help. But I do give credit to all the women out there who can do a lot of things for themselves. God Bless You and Kyle. Good luck keeping the intruders out.🙏😊

That must have been a cold bath? When we was children, we started to bath in early may among the melting ice in a big river where I grew up, but now, NO WAY. I like the ocean in July. That blue flower was beautiful and I have not seen it earlier Resin from spruce is so so good to chew, you find them as small dry bulbs on the trees, the get purple when you chew on them, they also disinfect your mouth. (we have only one type of spruce, but I think I have heard you have two?) Those old ones with "beard" hanging from the branches is the best trees to find them on. People always asked my mom: Isn`t you afraid to live alone because of the bears and the wolfs? (she had sheep and goat) but she said: No, I am only afraid of the two-legged predators, yes, I agree with her, those are more scaring then wolfs and bears. Take care. Thank you for the video.

Our 1100 sq ft house was estimated (by three companies) as having 10,000 dollars worth of mouse remediation needed. Yeah, no, not even in a good economy could we ever afford that, but it was so bad, as you well know! Every room of every level. It took me three years of constant vigilance (and I have no idea where the little blighters are getting in) to get it down to a level that is annoying and gross, but not absolute madness. Along with the spiders, the gnats that get into my spider plant soil, the stink bugs, the carpenter ants and picnic ants... there are days I want to just torch the place and run away lolol But, I have to agree that I'm living in a wooded area and it's all part and parcel of the whole thing. It's the spiders though that just make me scream! Peppermint and oregano oil help a tiny bit some of the time (too much sets off my asthma), keeping the place spotless is impossible (marie condo I am not lol) so i just plug along. We had bad neighbors for years (they have moved thank goodness) and after a drunken & drugged altercation at our house we got a camera too. It gives me a sense of security. It's MY house and I do not have to let anyone in. I do not have to answer the door. Knowing who's there helps a wee bit... the robins that nest there every spring do wear it out a bit haha. I was wailing internally too as you weeded lol, same when I have at my flower garden. Those are medicinal plants not weeds, but, in my flower garden, they're weeds and I have a rewilded section of the .17 acres (I love my little plot) I'm on and the medicinal plants can grow wild and free there. I was given 6 wild strawberry plants 10 years ago. I now have a yard full of the buggers! They grow like... well, weeds! lol Rather pernicious if I do say so, but the critters like them. Too sour for my taste. I enjoy the flowers and the bright red berries. Thank you so much, for another wonderful episode. I'm going to get your earring as well! Such a brilliant idea! Black peppercorn is a very soothing, yet energizing scent, and to have it on earrings like that is perfect for me!
Ally you should have multiple camera systems…. Battery powered….. and plug-in… even trail cams would work where you’re at….. Ones with motion detection….. ones with night vision… and once it will alert you on your phone when something happens immediately…… it will make you feel better👍😎

The off grid garden has fabric but the one at the a-frame has nothing currently. I may redo the soil next year and do a compost method Kyle's mom showed me. It has a crazy name so I don't recall it currently haha. But if I redo things I will probably do better weed prevention. The off grid cabin will likely get a cover crop of sorts with time.

It’s been decades since I’ve seen winter proofing windows/ screen porches. That used to be one of my chores as a boy. Mulch and pick your own 'weeds', aka a ground cover. Bare earth will always get covered with something, so cover it with something of your choice.
