Mondaine has released the latest version of its Stop2Go Wall Clock. The version uses WiFi to synchronise the time, so you don't have to. It will periodically adjust the displayed time automatically. Check out this video to find out more.

    Finally a ‘rolling’ seconds hand. Now it represents the real thing.

    In fact so impressed with the rolling seconds and tutorial video, I purchased it via your link, thank you ❤…now if we can get the exact specs (non ticking, stop2go feature) into the Stop2Go watch… 🤔

    Now I can finally buy it! Was waiting for the sweep action to more closely resemble an actual rail clock. :)

    A small update! After logging the network traffic for a few days, I can see that the Mondaine clock connects to the internet every night at 9 PM to sync the time. :)

    I have tried this new Mondaine WiFi clock for a few weeks and must say that it is a very big improvement compared to the old Bluetooth wall clock that could not keep the correct time. Please note that this clock can only connect to 2.4 Ghz WiFi networks. In my case, I also needed to disable 802.11ax/WiFi 6 mode in my Asus router, for the clock to connect correctly. I have recently enabled logging in my router to see if and how often the clock periodically connects to WiFi to sync the time, so far it hasn't happened. Regardless, the clock seems to keep time very well. 🙂

    Thanks so much for this. My wife bought me this clock for my birthday and all the info that came with it stated I needed to set it up via the Mondaine app using bluetooth. Obviously it didn't work and I'd given up on it and was preparing to send it back. You video just happened to Pop up as a suggested watch and following your instructions, it's now working. Mondaine really should put the correct instructions in with their products.

    Thanks for a great video. I have one of these clocks. It sucks that I have to manually set (via my phone) daylight savings time on or off. My WiFi connected weather station clock deals with DST changes automatically so I don’t really understand why this movement can’t do the same thing?

    Naturally I was expecting that the "Wi-Fi model" would come with temperature sensor as it was with "Bluetooth model", however I wasn't able to locate such functionality so far. I mean, it's not like it bothers me, not at all, not even something that I used often. And, it does whole lot a sense to reduce the cost of production by dropping off redundant "bluetooth"/temperature functionality as well as concerns that came with maintaining iOS and Android apps. This is understandable. No doubt, that is still all-around well-made product. There is one thing that bothers me a little bit in Mondaine wall clocks is that they aren't Swiss made.

    Is it possible to re-align the hands if the clock comes with the seconds hand not quite stopping at the 12 o’clock marker, or the minute hand isn’t quite advancing centered over each minute marker? This seems to have been possible with the BT version via the Mondaine clock app. While you can press both buttons to enter search mode (clock kicks off its own wifi network for the purposes of setting timezone and local wifi network to join), I wonder if they each provide access to other distinct functions. I see nothing in the manual that mentions the role of each button, only that if pushed together for 5 seconds it places the clock in setup mode.

    My concern about this clock is that it relies on technology that changes very quickly. I've never had a phone more than three years. Will this beautiful (and expensive) time piece go to the bin in three years? Thanks!

    Quick question, when I come to change batteries, does the "one-time setup" need to be repeated, or does the clock remember WiFi settings? Is there a need for manual intervention for daylight savings time adjustments, or can the clock handle this automatically?

  • @FormanddesignAu

    @FormanddesignAu

    11 ай бұрын

    1. Battery Change - The clock will sort itself out. Once the new batteries are loaded the hands will wind around to the 12 o'clock position and then keep going until it reaches the correct time. this can take a bit of time to finish. 2. Daylight Savings - You have to manually change the time for daylight savings via your phone.

  • @fredericrobert9065

    Hi, I am not convinced it synchronizes periodically (with wifi or other mean). E.g., you have to update manually the time for daylight savings. What do you think? Cheers

  • @FormanddesignAu

    @FormanddesignAu

    Yes it does synchronise via wifi frequently and maintains accurate time. Changes to daylight savings have to be done manually though.

  • @FormanddesignAu

    That doesn't sound good. I don't know why it would be doing this. I would recommend taking the clock back to where you purchased it from and ask them to organise to have it assessed.

    Great, they almost managed to imitate the original. However 2 Features are still missing, which I find personally a bit disappointing as they would be easy to implement or to patch: 1. The minute pointer jumps, rather than slides, after the seconds pointer stops for 2 seconds. This is a small detail, but if you are already doing everything to imitate the original, why not do it properly? 2. Daylightsaving should be automatised. I hope they can patch these functionalities for the future. A bonus feature would be: 3: Synchronisation of SBB clocks among each other in the same country/region

    Is the new clock more accurate? If so, what is the error? Thank you.

  • @FormanddesignAu

    @FormanddesignAu

    Жыл бұрын

    The simple answer is yes it is more accurate than the blue tooth version because it takes its time from the wifi network much like your phone does. The accuracy depends on how often it polls the wifi network for the time and unfortunately I was not able to find any technical data on that from Mondaine

    I find it annoying that you have to take it off the wall to adjust for daylight savings. You would think that it could automatically connect to your phone somehow, such as via and app & Bluetooth. This is disappointing for such an advanced clock.

    You do have to take it off the wall to change the batteries and to update the time for daylight savings.

  • @FormanddesignAu

    @FormanddesignAu

    8 ай бұрын

    Agreed, although it's only to press the two blue buttons on the back, then you use your phone to adjust for daylight savings. I assume that they could have made it automatic, however this could cause problems for border towns where one state/country uses daylight savings and the other doesn't (even if they are nominally in the same time zone). This is the case in Australia where the eastern sea board states (Tasmania, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Queensland) all sit within the same time zone, except in summer when only Queensland doesn't use daylight savings. There are substantial border towns straddling the New South Wales and Queensland border and I would image that if the clock adjusted automatically for daylight savings then there could be some problems encountered if you were just one house apart for example and straddling the border. Your clock might adjust automatically or not depending on where your internet provider is located (their clock time specifically). I'm just guessing though, and I really don't know why it's not an automatic process.

    The clock doesn't know what timezone its in apparently. Shame you cannot set that from the UI. Your phone can get its timezone from the phone network. Your computer needs to be told its timezone at setup time. For Australia, that might be NSW/Sydney which conveys both GMT+10 and also the DST changeover points. Timezones also need maintenance maintenance / support, as politicians change them occasionally. Support for a clock might be a new concept.
