I don’t see the point of growing my hair if it has to be covered all the time. Fake hair causes my hair to break and I do not look good in mini twists/braids with my own hair. Still trying to find a healthy style that I can wear out.

Finally, I found a video without protective styles. I've been reading so much about our afro hair and KZread/websites can become confusing because one person says you must do protective styles the other say you don't need them etc. But I believe we can nurture our hair without protective styles and it will still grow as long as we keep it moisturised, wash, deep condition and trim when needed. Because sometimes we just want to see the beauty of our hair out as that's what hair is for right? 🤷‍♀️❤️ PS. Because of your title that I've been searching for ages, I subscribed to your channel automatically! 🥰

The last tip is my favourite. A few weeks ago i decided to stop protective styling and forcus on the moisture and health of my hair. Its been 3 weeks of daily/every other day moisturising and omg. I really dont know if the more frequent manipulation will have a negative effect i can only speak for my hair health so far but omg my hair is flourishing. I always thought my hair was 4c since i had no curl definition, detangling was a mission and it was just nappy and dry. My hair actually has curls! Im still trying to adjust to embracing shrinkage because my hair is actually bra strap length but honestly i wouldnt go back. This is the best thing ive done for my hair and i just hope it doesn’t compromise length retention. Tm do it your hair will thank you so much. My hair is just so soft and defined and i just cant believe it was that simple. Why the hell was I listening to all these yt hair gurus abt nonsense. As if my dry 4c hair should go days without moisture. Its like saying someone with eczema should moisturise their skin only once a week 🤦🏾‍♀️i feel like a fool 😂😓

I agree with the water tip, since adding more moisture/water to my 4C hair it really does not shrink up so much with water as it did before. Also adding water alone will cause it to shrink but if your hair has a good leave-in conditioner it will stay more elongated.

Hi Swirly Curly I have your book and I ordered 6 bottles of your hair oil, I'm a little confused with information regarding blow drying the hair and breaking the hydrogen bond by adding water I don't want to wear a protective style I wash condition put a leave in condition then blow dry my hair not to get it straight just to dry then I used a small amount of shea butter to style. By adding a sprint of water and gel am I breaking the hydrogen bond in the hair soooo confusing all the information on the internet and KZread I haven't started using the oils yet as I'm finishing up the book I'm sooo happy i found your channel Kind regards

@@swirlycurlyhair Hi! I have multiple patterns as well. I have 3b, 3c, 4a towards the front, but my 4b sections in the back do not stretch out like this without heat or manual stretching with twists and my hair is moisturized. Your previous pictures literally looked like beautiful 4b coils in the front and back of your hair but your hair look almost straight after you washed it and it was damp in the video. This really does not make sense to me.

I have never done protective styles. I have genetically thin fine 3b. I have also never grown my hair in the last 10 uears or so. I prefer shorter styles. Mt hait is now in an angled bob. I need to trim monthly to keep it in the shape I want. So my hair growth is on point. I am unemployed and I agree that your hair can be just fine with consistent routine and cheaper products.
