(1) SOUNDS AND BODY LANGUAGE
You can express “yes” without words. These are particularly useful when your mouth is full of food or you're afraid to use a wrong word or phrase.

(2) INFORMAL
When you’re in informal situations, you will often choose to use casual language. For instance, when speaking to your friends and family, you would probably respond with “yep” rather than the much more formal “indeed.”

i’m a native english speaker and when you are having a conversation with someone and you say “k” it sounds friendly but texting “k” is considered rude to the younger population. (btw i’m 16 yrs old)

in my opinion, the best way to polish up English is to move to the country were using English. I am from Poland I've been at Malta 6 months, later I came back to Poland now, and I feel so good with my English now. I hope my sentences are understandable ;c
