Been using it for a few years. Recently made the switch over to Zbrush this last week. As someone who was spending 9+ hrs a day in Blender for contract work for years, Zbrush has made things a lot quicker -- despite my just having started with it. Especially when you leverage Zbrush's ZRemesher + Dynotopo + hi poly optimization vs Blender's Multi-Resolution Modifier it's a huge quality of life improvement. With 32gb of RAM, my computer was chucking at high polycounts in Blender. Blender is great to start, and I used it for years, but I'm sort of kicking myself for not shelling out the $40 mo earlier. If you don't have the funds for it, Blender is a great tool for DCC, and I'm still going to use it for my hardsurface/retopo work -- but definitely look into Zbrush if you're going to spend a good amount of time sculpting. Royal Skies has a pretty good series on transitioning from Blender to Zbrush -- if that interests you.

@Rand Williams how tough was the switch to get used to? Im learning a lot with blender and i tried cinema 4d for the first time and its so different that i can't even use it.
I don't know if people realize this, but it's important to know that not everyone uses blender for the same reasons! if you're using blender for making a cute low poly cat render to use as a profile pic for social media, that's gonna take a much different proccess than sculpting a head like you are in this video. Remember that your skillset doesn't make you any more or less worthy than other artists! If you use blender, no matter what you're using it for, you WILL improve! And don't compare yourself with other 3d artists who have different skillsets!! if you're enjoying making your low poly cats, and you're damn good at it,that's all that matters. You make low poly cats, not Pixar movies. If you have your thing that you do and you vibe with it, don't kiss up to anyone that tells you you should "make real 3d art". Art doesn't deserve to be gatekept, and neither do you. ❤
You're a beautiful person. I will say though, I'm not too worried about sculpting. I actually find it soothing to sculpt things. My problem is figuring out the code and rendering.
Love this, my 2 cents on this would be: 1. don't be affraid to fail, in fact embrace failing under a different lens: after your training session do something different for about a hour (close blender entirely but save your project) then come back and look at it with "fresh eyes", point out what went wrong but also point out what you feel or noticed you did good, or better than last time 2. be aware that it is a long journey, so don't expect to become good overnight but don't be discouraged: just work super hard towards your goal and enjoy the process
Whenever I feel like stopping using Blender, I recall 10+ years of working in 3dsmax and all the horrors. Then I remember that my lovely Blender is doing for me the work of 3-4 software packages with some minimum discomfitures. I cry happy tears, run Blender again and quickly find a workaround for any problem. Never quit Blender, join the dev fund at any tier and grow your skills as Blender's functionality and community grows.

Good advice and nice Dr Strange. I actually did just that last week and I'm amazed how quickly I learned new tricks by just faffing about and looking up some tutorials.
These shorts keep coming to me over and over whenever I get stuck. So amusing.
Thank you so much for this! When I started using blender, I had NO idea what to do. I kept facing problems that I had no idea how to solve. I was still really to determined to eventually learn blender, so I could have experience modeling, and animating to eventually become an animator. My models are no where near your level, but I can see massive improvement from my first attempt, and that’s all that matters. Keep up the amazing tutorials and content!
One thing about making a motivational speech: don't say "don't" say "do". Instead of saying "don't be afraid of showing your art" say "be confident in showing your art". In a strange way, in a persons brain the "don't" can get omitted and the motivational words can have the opposite effect. Processing information is a strange process and everyone reacts a bit different.
This is the motivation I've been looking for
"You are a loser just stop using blender" after i heard that i quit blender once for all
❤️I'm not an blender user a coder. And you truly impressive : just keep practicing don't think too much. This line 💐

I’ve been making music for 30 years and I still think my music is garbage a lot of the time. Other people enjoy my music but I still think I should be better than I am. Often, other people see your improvements before you do. Every few months, compare one of your old works to one of your current ones of a similar style. This is when you start being able to objectively see your improvements. That way you start to know that you being garbage is only in your head. Whether or not you think your music is garbage, release it anyway. Future you will thank present you for taking that chance.

I've been trying to learn Blender since 2.90, that was in 2020. I have not given it up YET but besides some low poly assets I could not use it for anything. I keep running into aspects that I have to learn from the ground up with tutorials that are at times years out of date and skipping over parts or using addons without ever letting viewers know. By the time I investigate the aspect I needed I lose momentum of the original concept and cannot justify the invested time that I spent with something that ultimately did not yield anything. Time I could've spent with chores and work and taking care of my health But like a moron, I keep coming back to Blender trying again, hoping this time I can make something with it. Blender is the ultimate abuser.

Modeling is fun. Its texture making, baking, and transferring to unity thats gonna give me an aneurysm. So many steps to remember.
When I was in Architecture school one of the key things we learned was that you cannot wait for creativity to arrive, you have to do so that creativty comes as you do. It has been the most important thing I learned now looking back at it.

Really needed this. I've been taught for so many years on 3ds max that trying to get used to blender has made me genuinely cry in frustration at points. It's so anti intuitive if you've got experience in literally any other 3d software in terms of setup that I just want to give up so badly. I know it can do amazing things even more so that it's free, but dang am I finding hard. This has given me a little push to keep trying tho, wish me luck. 😢
i’ve really been needing these exact words to be said to me lately, been insane in the membrane
I just started using Blender and trying to get used to it. My only thing i wish with programs like blender is that they made the controls and shortcut keys similar to adobe products. It'll make it so much easy.
Thank you, I probably needed something like, this, hope I need to get back in blender

Oh yes, this is such a good advice. It's like my Sensei used to say often: "I know it is not easy, but let's be fair, no one said it would be." And now I am using this saying also very often if things are hard.
As a life long career artist of many mediums, no statement has ever been more true than "beautiful things can come from your broken pieces, if you give your broken pieces a chance".
