This is the third time I have commented on your video. Can't tell you how much this has improved my swing. I have narrowed my swing thought to "take the club straight back, don't turn hips, don't turn hips!" The rest just takes care of it self.

I can't thank you enough for this one, Matt. The results were immediate and dramatic. It remains to be seen if they are permanent, but that's up to me. I just hit about 100 balls and I gained 15 yards on my irons and developed a little draw. My prior miss was an over the top pull. If I can make this a permanent fix, it's a game changer. Thanks again, Matt!

Every so often, you put out a video that really hits home with me and this is one of them. I've been having some issues lately with my iron play especially. I saw this video a couple of days ago and tried this during my 9 hole round today. I felt and saw the difference immediately from my first drive. Such a fun round. On 4 of the holes, I hit my longest drives ever on those holes. The second hole is a par 3. I rattled the flag stick for a near hole in one. Had to settle for par. Later, on the par 5 8th, I again hit a big drive and reached the green in two. The 18 footer for eagle barely missed but I walked off with a birdie. All this from the one swing thought: Don't turn the shoulders!. YOU ARE THE MAN!

So I’ve fixed my setup, the top of my swing by not cupping the wrist, I’ve learned how to control swing path decently but I never knew I had an issue with my hips firing too soon to get a turn started. This is super insightful. 100% my early hip action is the cause of my occasional flippy hook shot on my irons. I’ve used an exaggerated take way like you suggest that’s all arms at first using my driver for a while and it helped me dial back my slice. I guess it’s time to use it in my iron game too.

Thanks for this. I literally was working on a drill today based on Ben Hogan and having the left should under the chin and was also trying to make sure my right hip went deep before clearing the left hip backwards on the downswing. It went great for a while, then I think I ended up like you in 6:30 to 6:50 and ended up shanking a bunch of balls. It seems to work well in the practice net. Looking forward to trying it out on the range next week.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for forever. Can’t wait to watch this ! Live edited this comment while watching: 1:02 I have this exact problem with the left miss. 2:04 this is getting creepy. The right side is exactly what I do! 4:10 looking forward to trying this. I wonder because I make good contact when I feel like I move my hands in but keep the head out. Could this feel be similar to the point of starting with your hands ? 5:03 when hands go shoulder height, don’t turn the hips but release the hips backwards. Would an appropriate feel be to load the inner right foot with the hip release? I’ll give this a try today at the range 6:31 when to shoulder turn? Don’t over crank the shoulders too much. When you move hands back the shoulders turn on their own. Practice trying to feel that your shoulders aren’t turning because they will def turn on their own. Lifting your hands will prevent you from turning. 8:08 how do I turn without turning? Keep center of chest point at ball while making your hands move as far away. Feel like your pushing your hands away from your body. This is literally the exact drill I do when I am out of sorts!!! My favorite video by far because it gives me hope that I will find the right feels eventually!

This is like the third KZread video I’ve watched in the last week promoting NOT turning the shoulders, focusing more on turning the HIPS. Golf Sidekick (I know he’s one of your favorites) just did a great video with Eric Chong (his teaching pro) focusing on moving the right hip back and getting the hands deep ☝🏻 more in line with the right heel … not focusing on shoulder turn or the arms; just letting them rotate naturally as a result of hip turn. You’re right … the “Y” formed by the arms straight back FIRST, then turn the hips. Good stuff 👍🏻 … keep up the good work

Also interesting to see. I am an OTT 3 cap. Been doing an outside take away to loop it inside on downswing. 1 year of doing that with no real improvement. I find outside take away gets my shoulders way more involved. Started to do an inside take away, like your bad swing. My OTT is gone and looks like similar to your “bad” swing. Your bad swing comes way more inside, same with me, perfect. I don’t flip at impact like you did tho. Only been at this for a month but so far it’s been great! Lol that’s golf 😂

I even took it to some short pitches where i.didn't rotate my hops and that worked too.

Think there is aspects of left sidebend that occur if you start correctly, which you want. I also think the right hip shouldn't rotate but stay relatively straight on with the hip turn occuring with the left hip rotating into the right hip - i.e. internal rotation into the hip. Triggering transition in the lower body is automatic with the building tension in the backswing when that trail hip doesn't rotate around, but hard if it does.

Because to me, those 2 concepts feel like they fight each other.

This is a really bad piece of advice . This thought will ruin swing and have people rushing and coming over the top a lot . Everybody has a different swing . Some people have a short backswing some people have a long back swing some break the wrist early some break the wrist late some start the arms first on the downswing some start the lower body and hips on the downswing like myself . Basically all of these instructors teach and believe in different ways of training and most of the guys I watch on here seem to just come up with new ideas all the time so they can post new videos and get payed 🤦🏽‍♂️

This video is more of a fix, not a universal swing tip. The issue of over rotation too early in the golf swing isn't that common with amateurs because they usually struggle with rotation to begin with. This video really only applies to people suffering from that, shouldn't be applied universally. Really boils down to weird feels that sound counterintuitive to fix a problem, not to literally not turn your shoulders when you swing. Look at his swings towards the end of the video. There is still a full shoulder and hip turn happening, this is just to help people who do it too early.@@georgerodriguez7588

Bro, WTF is up with these channels. Listen people… DO NOT listen to this. Both swings are good. Many of the greats have the “BAD” shoulder turn. Swing your own swing. Watching these videos without any proper personalized instruction is a recipe for disaster and inconsistency. If KZreadr golf lessons helped, most people wouldn’t be so bad at golf. Sorry to sabotage your video Short game but bro…. C’mon man.

Absolutely. Turning the hips too early doesn't bring the club inside immediately. This is absolute nonsense

And trust this. For these channels to continue they don't want to truly fix anyone's game. If they did, everyone would stop watching these ridiculous videos.

This dude must of ran out of ideas so he just made this shit up when he was sitting on his couch high drinking a glass of bourbon and coke and decided this would be a good idea to continue to get viewers to watch 😂🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️
