They should emphasise more that there can be a sexual arousal component to the abuse as well. The abuse might turn you on, because this is the only way your body knows how to deal with it. This doesn't mean you wanted the abuse to happen and even if you wanted some of the sexual attention, it still is abusive. This part of the abuse might be one of the most confusing and difficult aspects to deal with. If the abuse starts early enough, you might become a highly sexualised person before you even know what the meaning of sexuality is. Therefore this aspect of abuse can never be your fault.

Thank you so much for talking about this. It's natural for our bodies to feel "aroused" even when the touching is inappropriate and wrong. That "aroused" feeling is a biological response. It doesn't mean that the victim is at fault for "enjoying it" or that the victim actually wants to be inappropriately touched. Grooming, touching, and arousing are all part of the perps plan to "mess with your head". The perp knows that what they are doing could cause their victim to feel aroused and that it's psychologically damaging. They hope that is what keeps you quiet.

Best way to explain it is that the body and mind are separated. We love are bodies and can’t do anything without them but they also do certain things we don’t like. Nobody can control there body’s biological desire to reproduce but we are still aware enough to mentally separate abuse and healthy relationships.

I think a lot of adults are so desperate to believe their child is safe and isn’t hurt that they ignore it because it’s painful to think about. And that’s an understandable instinct, as long as you don’t follow it. It might hurt to think about your child being hurt, but it’s hurting them way worse. That really the problem to me - not the instinct to doubt or diminish it, but acting on that instinct. Even if your child had lied about something similar before, you STILL need to believe them, because the reality of the boy who cried wolf is that the effort checking for wolves will take, even if there might not be any, isn’t worth the risk of what would happen if there is a wolf. Plus a child lying about SA specifically had to have learned that concept from somewhere and if you don’t know where, then someone has hurt or is hurting that child even if it isn’t who they say it is. That’s the only time I think kids are inclined to “lie” about it - as a dry run to practice telling what’s actually happening/to see what the process will be like/to see if they will be believed.

The person who sexually abused me was almost arrested for it in 2017. The police knocked on their front door and gave them a warning and a slip of paper. But they were almost taken under custody.

I trying to heal from it now since my mental health changed drastically for the worse in those 10 years i kept it to myself. If they even recognize it at all. If the person doing this has authority and trust enough, this might not even be the case. I am from de 'beware of stranger danger' generation. Nobody ever told me it could happen by the hands of someone I loved and trusted. Nobody explained to me that if your need for attachment is great enough, you might even mistake it for love. Nobody explained to me how my body could get accustomed to it and even yearn for the forbidden contact, as my soul wandered off into seperate realities. These are the difficult things that don't get explained often enough, that are so often misunderstood and poorly judged out of fear, shame and resentment. I share your hope, but Children often have no way of recognizing these things.

As someone who was sexually abused by my best friend at the age of 10-12 I understand how hard it is to recover from this. at first tbh i didn't realise that it was SA. I even trusted this boy so much i let him around for sleepovers. It was a massive mistake because when i was sleeping he took off my clothes and underwear. he started to touch me in places that aren't appropriate at all. (I found this out via cctv in my mum's house) This happened when i was 11 years old. When I was 10 he would touch me when i had my clothes on and he would make me touch him forcefully. Once i turned 12 he tried to r^pe me however i stopped him by st^bbing him in the chest with my house keys. I have never told anyone until up to this point.

Even people I thought would NEVER try and tell me I was a liar but they did. The cops have turned against me. My principal is against me. Several of my piers are against me. I have been sexually abused by a high school boy who were older than me as a 8th grader when I was 13 and he touched me on my bottom. He forced me to touch the part between his legs by actually grabbing my arm/hand to touch his private parts but I didn’t. We were sitting together in the bus since there were no seats. And he told me not to tell anyone. So, I kept a secret for a few years. It made me feel sad, angry, disgusted, scared, and anxious about it since I thought that something bad would happen and I didn’t know what to do about it so I kept it secret till 10th grade. I decided to tell my mom and she understood me. Only my mom and dad knew what happened. A few years later during post Covid, he dropped out from school and I felt reviled since I was so nervous that it would happen again. Since that incident, I learned a lot about how to protect myself for that if it happens again. I am planning to tell my school eventually so he doesn’t do it to anyone else. I can still remember the trauma and the situation since it is always on the back of my mind. I am constantly looking around to make sure that nobody else does this to me the same way I went through it. But, bigger issue and worse than this is physical abuse and mental abuse on childs, It's 99% out of 100% population and it is very clear to identify, but still we are not fighting for it

I was in 5th Grade and I had this really weird English teacher(I also had him for an after-school program) who acted very strangely around girls. He would go up and lift up their skirts, slap them in inappropriate areas, and he also tried to kiss them. One day during a lesson, there was this one girl that sat at the back of the class, and the teacher would always go to her first. It was like there was a pattern in his ways around the girls. I was listening the whole time and my teacher said, "Come with me, I have something BIG to show you." I got a little suspicious about it so I kept my eyes on him the whole way until he went out with the girl. I stepped outside of the classroom to keep watch, and I can never erase the picture in my mind of what he did to that innocent girl. He pressed his hands over her mouth and took off her shorts. Before that I saw him shove her into the boys bathroom. I rushed into the bathroom and yelled, "Hey! You get your dirty hands off her!" I pushed him out of the way of the girl and put my jacket over her so I wouldn't see her parts. Soon, the other teachers got there with the security guards to get that man pinned down. They said I was a real hero that day, but I said to not share it so it wouldn't draw much attention to the girl and the school. I saved that girl's future, and she thanked me for it. Whenever you see bad things like that happen, don't feel scared to share it. You could save a life just like I did, and doing that makes a much better society. We need to stop this cruelty as soon as possible, and if it doesn't stop then reduce it as much as we can

my uncle alwyys bought me stuff i wanted like chips or esrphones and stuff, the first time it happened was when i was 8 he touched my thighs and even went further, i was young so i thought ir was ok,when i was 9 the touching never stopped, thats when i entered the internet and told my online friends who werw a lot older, they kept saying it but who knows what i thought, at 10 it got worse,im 11 now and it still hasnt stopped :(

Please tell somebody please. Have you told your parents about it?? I understand you're in an overwhelming situation right now. I went through the same exact thing, but please. Not telling anyone is going to cause even more damage to you, and it won't stop. It isn't normal for him to be doing that to you. Im begging you, please tell one of your parents or just any adult that you trust. I understand that you might not feel comfortable telling your parents, but atleast tell a teacher or someone. I'm so sorry you are going through this, nobody should have to experience something so traumatic. I know this comment is a month old, but I really hope things turn out better for you.❤

For anyone who might be reading this: abuse of this kind isn’t always as simple as touching the private parts or so obvious as some things make it seem. If someone is touching you ANYWHERE and you feel uncomfortable at all, talk to someone safe. It’s not okay for them to touch you in uncomfortable ways, even if it isn’t where a bathing suit would cover. It’s not even always touching that happens. If someone makes you feel unsafe, listen to that instinct. You should always feel safe. Always.

Well... i had some one i looked up to untill i learned the truth. He was ok at first but soon he starting doing werid stuff, one day i was minding my on buisness untill he put his spit on my skirt i really felt werid but he was nice to me, then every time i got up he aways ran up to me and hug me i felt werid, he aways wanted to be with me and hug me nobody else i had 2 more best friends that were friends with him one was a male the other was a female, he hug the male and me the male knew him for a Long time i was Just New to him as well as my female friend. Then he forced me to do things for him or else... i didn't feel safe anymore... one day i was hanging out with my female friend until he was following wanted to hug evan me chasing me all i could do is yelling to him to stop and runing away Every body tried to make him stop he reach out his hand to me all i could do is look away, i don't talk to him anymore but he keeps looking at me and keeps on saying "why do you hate i did nothing wrong" or "why can't we be friends" i try to ingore him my female friend stop being friends with him after she herd what happend she is the only person i could talk with i trust her so much, when ever he is next to me my female friend aways takes me away from him i feel happy that i'm with my female friend insted of him.

Well an big taller brother came to my little brother he touched 🥲 my brother's stomach but luckly I told my mother she called him than I cried.

I’m actually a victim of sexual abuse... when I was this happened last year when my uncle and his sons came to visit our grandparents. Me and my siblings were living with our grandparents until we finish our home school. My uncle finally left leaving his two sons behind the other one stayed with his aunt and the older one was left with us. That night was very traumatizing... our grandparents house is small and it only has one bedroom, we were sleeping in the living room with our mattress but since I was the only girl I had to sleep on the wooden chair just beside the mattress where my little brother and cousin were sleeping. I thought they were asleep so I slept in a comfortable position not knowing what was to come. But then I felt a warm hand on my stomach I knew it wasn’t my brother cause he was already asleep it was my cousin... he started to trail his hand upwards and I couldn’t say anything I was afraid.. my brother luckily woke up and suddenly the hand stopped but it stayed, it was dark. After a few moments he did it again slightly reaching for my breast I couldn’t take it anymore so I changed my position and covered my breast with a pillow. I wish I could’ve said something but I was afraid. In until now I still talk with him like nothing happened..

That’s abuse. You can definitely tell them to stop but go to a trusted adult first.

Once, my best friend had sent me a picture of a naked woman ( we were both 9 ) and then I blocked her and told my mother straight away.

Not necessarily, it can be a genuine accident, but it just depends on how they handle the situation and if they apologize or not. If they notice they did, they should always apologize. But it can be tricky because if they "accidentally" touch you, they could cover it up by lying and saying it was accidental, when in reality they meant to touch you. If they keep on accidentally touching you , or they notice and never apologize, tell a trusted adult.

Best way to stop such abuse - know your body's boundaries, and know your public parts as well as your private parts of your body. Not just sexual boundaries by itself. If somebody physically pressures you to have sex---TELL THAT PERSON TO STOP before that abuse gets a lot worse!

This is why I slap my dad ever time he try’s to hug me or put his hand on my leg even though I am comfortable with him

Hey if you want my opinion here it is... first of all if you want to talk to someone you trust like a friend or a close family member or your parents, but you don't know how.. you have to be confident on yourself. You can even try thinking what your gonna say before you say it a couple times. And I'm sure the person you tell will understand. And don't tell yourself they won't. Don't doubt because then you can talk yourself out of doing it. If you tell yourself u can then u can but if u say u can't you won't. Speaking to your parents can be difficult but if it helps just start talking to them about a anything. Start a conversation and then when u feel the time is right say, I have something I've been wanting to ask or tell you, and they will listen. Remember they are your parents not strangers, so just think of them as your friend. Dont be scared just do it! Ik it's hard but if u push through it you'll feel so much better! I believe in you! - also sorry this was so long hahaha.
