STOP SAYING THESE WORDS

"unalive" "seggs" "corn" MAKE IT STOP!! Ben is back this week to remind you that you ARE NOT in face "shadow banned", your content just SUCKS! I’m autistic and I use tone indicators for actual accessibility needs, I’m not able to pick up on jokes that may seem obvious to most people. I think that a lot of people think “this joke was so obvious why’d they add the tone indicator it made the joke not funny” and they don’t realize that some people will actually need that. Tone indicators are so prevalent in my life that me and my friends actually use them in texts and whatnot to avoid confusion. It also felt a little off when you said “jokes are funnier with a little confusion/with the gullible people missing the joke” because I have spent 90% of my life confused because I don’t get social cues and I don’t need that to bleed into my online life. Also not all people are gullible because they are “stupid” some of us are just disabled!! Love your content 🫶

I genuinely agree with everything aside from tone tags because it really depends on who’s using them. Tone tags were originally created for people with asd and other forms of neurodiversity to be able to communicate more easily without misunderstandings idk if that made sense but yeah I still agree that it only needs to be used where necessary and not after every single sentence

With the tone text symbols such as /j /srs etc i use for ppl only bc me myself hates the fact that txt has no tone. i either use that or emojis. the thing “seggs” ive used once or twice as a joke in a group chat cus the context made it funny but that’s all. those are my thoughts on it

/srs and /gen are tone indicators that help specifically autistic people who struggle with reading others emotions already on a day to day, but now they have the added challenge of doing it through a screen. i brought it up to my bf who agrees that using tone indicators would help a lot of confusion and prevent a lot of arguments. he doesnt like having to read between the lines and try to figure out what im actually feeling and i dont like being misunderstood. its just easier for us to use tone indicators in text

I’m not sure about TikTok’s rules around shadowbanning disabled ppl (ect) but it’s still a thing with Instagram. I just interviewed with them & explained extensively why their monetization policies are harmful & unnecessary when it comes to limiting monetization if you post something “polarizing” about disability. For example, you could say “all buildings should have ramps for disabled ppl,” and it COULD very well be polarizing, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad statement. It means we have a lot of work to do. Another policy limits monetization if you show “explicit” content about bodily functions, but several disabled creators post things like that strictly for awareness. and example would be a person posting how catheters work & why they are necessary. Another example could be someone showing their stoma. Their body may look or perform differently, but it’s not unhealthy or bad. It’s just the spectrum of human/bodily diversity. IG shouldn’t limit ppl who just ✨woke up like this✨ and simply decided to show themselves on camera. So, YES Instagram still does that but I’m not sure about tiktok. They seemed receptive to what I was saying though & hopefully they will change it soon.

i don't wanna come across as a fucking keyboard warrior or anything, but as an autistic person I do find tone indicators (/j, /srs, /gen) pretty helpful when talking to people online and stuff. however I do agree that there's people online that's use them excessively. for example if someone said smtn like "I love cats! /gen" like that's fine and dandy but it couldn't have been taken differently tone wise and therefore didn't need the tone indicator because neurodivergent people aren't dumb. I personally only need them when someone is being subtly sarcastic or saying smtn like "I hate you. /j". I also think that (given they're not excessively used) tone indicators can be needed in online posts, because while I could hypothetically go into the comments and ask about it, that in a way singles me out and it would just be nicer to read it and understand it the first time like your average neurotypical person would. when used correctly, tone indicators just make neurodivergent people feel less different and help someone like myself understand people's tone when that help is needed. ^-^

DRAMA🤞 So I’m trans but not out(to a lot of people)and not transitioned so I look like a girl, most people who don’t know call me she and I don’t get upset unless I’m out to them. My friend who is ‘friends’ with these two girls(we don’t like them at all)told them I was trans just because I come up in conversation sometimes and my friend doesn’t want me being misgendered. I don’t even know these two girls that well btw, never done anything bad to them. My friend said that they would misgender me all the time even after she told them I go by he/him and when they would actually call me the correct pronouns they would say it sarcastically..I also have classes with them so I want to confront them really bad but I’m a little scared because I’m just like that😢

I'm sorry to hear 🙁 that's always a hard N complicated thing to deal with it's fr not that hard man -- the same way it wouldn't be hard of me to use "he/him" for them like ? have fun being uncomfortable ya'll !! but seriously -- I get disagreeing with it, but I don't understand the hatred for the people -- hadn't we practically gone over this with history of people wearing things that others disagreed with (and heck even got arrested for ? {from what I remember}) If you can, considering you want to, perhaps try finding them online and doing it that way ? And if not, perhaps you can ask if you can confront them together with your friend if you feel that'll help ? And if not that either, then maybe if there's a trusted adult around ? (unfortunately seems rare when it comes to these kinds of things though) If none of those, then I hope you get the courage And if not or if you do but they don't stop, then unfortunately you'll just have to try your best to cope with the bad of the world N us peeps who aren't like that'll be here to respect you I'm glad to know you have a friend Bit weird they hang out with them though ? sounds they should distance themself from them -- especially as knowing that stuffs only hurts But yeah -- hope for the best for you and your sitch 👍

MY DRAMAA: so I have this one friend who’s in a super toxic relationship to the point where there’s been multiple times where she’s come to school crying over her girlfriend. She’s told me and my friends about the relationship for MONTHS and despite us urging to break up, she says she CANT since her girlfriend is connected to her entire friend group (if she breaks up her whole friend group will drop her). She told us she will break up over the summer but the relationship is so clearly hurting her. Do we keep urging her to break up or should we just let her wait until summer????

(my advice in case he may not see) aw damn that's always really sad and hard to deal with for both sides That friend group is toxic if instead of supporting her, they'll drop her Even if they're good to her, they clearly aren't good enough friends as to do that unfortunately Well -- there comes a certain point in which you can't do much else But keep in mind yk her feelings as well -- make sure you're not gonna be hurting her as well by constantly telling her -- it is up to her after all and she knows what she needs to do N you've told her many times already, so she can only now help herself But perhaps the best thing you can do is say it one last time ? let her know how you feel about it again -- but add on how you just have to let her make the good decision and how you hope she will -- how you can't say much else but how you'll be there to support her and do what you can to make her feel the opposite of what her toxic gf makes her feel N leave it as that N just see what happens N hope for the best Make sure yk you're not being harmed either by the whole situation Hope for the best ! 👍

People really need to stop say unlalived, if you let other people control your speech its not just gonna mess with how you speak but also how you think. 0:46 Why didn't just you say the full world if your opposed to it? 7:04 Of curse the WP can say those words, their an elite chosen run company who are privilege to say what every they like. Their not tethered by rules meant for non inner circle members. 11:08 Trigger warning's are not useful and are just as damaging to peoples minds as also algospeak is.

I think it’s cool to see how Language continues to evolve with technology, and I don’t personally feel like tone indicators or online slang is really as big of an issue as you feel it is.

wtf ?? who does that -- I hope you're doing okay that's not overreacting -- in your mind, it's something different -- and in the person's mind, they were clearly thinking of something different as well unfortunately, there'll *always* be people who'll think something like that so, as long as they're not telling you to change something that's bad (something that's not harming you or anyone else), then whatever they say shouldn't matter because there'll always be that *one* person who's unhappy with *something* about you just focus on being a good person, and you'll hopefully be okay 👍

If you still wanna be friends with them or if they're mostly decent people: let them know that those terms make you uncomfortable or just them generally talking/joking about your body makes you uncomfortable. It might take them a while to start being mindful of it but if they outright refuse to put your comfort first, find new friends.

you're not being dramatic at all --- even if it seems stupid to someone else, it should be respected cause it's not stupid to you -- *especially* by your own friends I def understand that -- your friends are supposed to support you, and that should be one of them (supporting your body N all) -- not making you feel unsupoorted I'm sorry that happened -- I can only imagine -- especially for your bffs It depends -- for some people it's normal, and for some it's not And if you feel hurt by it, then that shows it's not normal for you and that should be respected That's why it needs to be talked about because since it's normal for some people, then they aren't aware yk they think everyone'll accept that I agree with the commenter anukriti Try talking to them about it and how it made you feel -- and if they continue to do so or express how they don't care when you told them, then as sad as it is and will be hard, it seems it'd be best to drop them cause those aren't true friends if that were the case, yk and'll only do you good to drop em' rather than letting it carry on I hope for the best for you
