Stop Plants & Leaves Eaten by Worms & Caterpillars

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you see holes in the leaves of your plants or leaves being eaten, it is very likely you have cabbage worms. To get rid of cabbage worms, you can use BT Spray, Spinosad Spray, and Corn Meal.

I just noticed these holes, on the leaves, of my radish plant today! It's next to my other plants, however, they are unaffected. Will this spread, to different types of vegetable plants? (Also, my radish plant has just started flowering, so this means, that it's happy, right?) Would placing crushed eggshells, on top of all of the soil, in my container plants, prevent this pest, from travelling, to my other plants, which are in close proximity, to my radish plant? Thank you, (in advance!), for your response!

Eggs shells may deter some insects but mostly they don't work against pests. Other plants might get affected as well. You want to pull and eat radishes before they flower.

These cabbage worms and the butterfly/moth is just as sneaky. We have one that will come by, see us in the garden and fly off to the field nearby. Once we leave the garden we watch the sucker come back and quickly lay its eggs. My daughter picked a leaf with one of the worms on them and when i picked it up from her the worm went to the nearest crease of the leaf to hide and it held as still as possible as if hoping not to be seen. Lol

I noticed small holes in my basil plant. Upon closer inspection, noticed small black droppings in clusters throughout, checking under the leaves directly above the clusters, I found the three culprits. They were removed with tweezers and now on display in a clear empty wine bottle with celery. Great video to help ID these three green oinkers!!

I have 2 anise swallowtail caterpillars that are now in their chrysalis forms near my dill plants. This afternoon I spotted a small green (hopefully not cabbage) caterpillar near the dill. I'm wary about using an insecticide as I could be killing a potentially good pollinating butterfly. I guess i have to get better at ID'ing these little critters.
