Many people understand what blockers mean. Still, they are often not used correctly. Or even worse, used to make completely wrong decisions.
In this video, we analyze two $200/$400 high stakes hands on GGPoker and find out what you need to look out for when thinking about blockers.

    Dude, I've been playing poker for almost 2 decades and I was studying poker on forums and Skype groups before GTO was even a thing or even terms like 3b were the most novel thinking of the time, and I STILL find some of these concepts hard to grasp without multiple watches. This is one of the most technical high level channels out there. There's a lot better beginner, novice and intermediate strategy channels out there. I suggest BenCB for tournament poker and phil galfond for general advice and PLO. They're some good starting points because while they have some more advanced strategy, they also go into basic stuff and their thought processes are much more digestible to newer players IMO.

    Most poker strategies stem from knowing preflop ranges. So learning preflop ranges first will be a good start.

    Fantastic video! Two questions I can't answer. In the second hand on the flop why is it almost always a check raise with A8s K8s Q8s while with A6s, K6s Q6s it is almost always a call? And to river for the solver why is a clear call whit 76c while is a clear fold whit 76d and 76s? Thanks

  • @2CardConfidence

    @2CardConfidence

    21 күн бұрын

    My guess why 8x is a better check raise than 6 is that it can make higher straights on certain runouts. Also 8x blocks some of IP's calling hands like T8 and J8 as we saw, which probably is a bit of a factor too. Regarding 76 combos, in my sim all of them are folds on the river. Where did you see 76c being a call and the other ones not?

    I got a question about flop strategy as ip ( 4:47 ). I really don't get why we can use these big sizes like 125% so often in this spot when we have no 86 combos. Can't BB even defend 86o in this rake structure so we play against potentially 16 combos of 86? Great channel watching every video

    I tried to sim this because the overbet frequency on the flop 579 as CO seemed off intuitively. When I run the same spot (150bb stack) I get an overbet frequency on the flop of less than 1%. Where is the error?

    I’ve been in so many scenarios where my initial gut instinct says my hand is no good here. But the back of my head starts talking about how I block the value hands and unblock bluff hands so I put the money in and of course i lose. I think people in reality puts to much emphasis on blockers. If you hold A6 and the board is QJ10 32 and you decide to shove. Are you really blocking AK? You’re just removing 25% of AK combos so 75% is still out there. On top of that your opponent can still call with lesser hands like smaller straights, sets, two pair hands.

    Obviously GTO is optimal and earns money in the long run, and mid-stakes players don’t often play that way. Seems like these super high-stakes guys are pretty close though. How can sites like GG monitor whether players are cheating with solvers, esp if these players play so closely to GTO?
