I've had my hightop locs for seven years come March and I love them, would never go back to have a full set of locs

I was close to getting high top locs but I prefer the full Locs just because they seem more rare these days. Can’t go wrong with either style though. 🤷🏽

I did the same with my high top locks I cut them off an year ago and then stared to dread my 4-5 months ago and I’m more impressed and satisfied with an full set than

hightop dreadlocs what make me different,my preference,EZ to maintain once u know u going to start with hightop...when i get a Fresh cut ,feel like a new man again omm.

i have high top locs and have 136 of them, i have more dreads than most people with fullheads that i see and when i wear them down peoeple cant even tell i have a high top so a tip i have is to start with smaller parts

I started off with a full set and went to high top for a high fade. The hightop dreads are keeping me from cutting my hair complety off because I can have both; a haircut with dreads. Also, my scalp can breath in the area where it's cut. It's faster to put your dreads in a ponytail with hightop dreads than a full set because with a full set of dreads, you have to wait until all of your hair equals to the same length to grip it and sometimes you won't be able to because of uneven length in certain areas. You will get more attention and compliments with a hightop.

Going from a fro to dreads really the best of both worlds 🤷‍♂️

*I did hightops and had them for 3 years before cutting them. I’ve been further growing out my hightop but I started growing out my side recently to get a full head.*

Instead of telling people they shouldn’t get something, or to stop doing something and potentially offending people who love those things, maybe try a more informative title, like “what you should know if you’re wanting high top locs” or “what to know before getting high top locs” because then it opens up the conversation for people with the same advice and experience, aka leading to even more advice for people wanting insight , just my thoughts

I started my dreadlocks around a year and sum back and they were a hightop set but before even getting any haircuts w my dreadlocks I realized I want a full set so I kept growing out my sides and back until after a year on my dreadlock journey I finally got em and they were pretty even too cuz my locs weren't that long but my location made em too thick compared to my top dreadlocks and the worst thing is I started w instant locs so separating was hard but I managed to cuz like 2\3 dreadlocks a day in half and today I finally finished separating all my sides

I feel like high tops get a lot of hate and it influences to ultimately start over. Hightops will forever be amazing. But I hope a full head was worth cutting everything off and starting over

Same. I found out it’s better to grow a full head of hair, let it get to a certain length you desire then style it in a high top cut. High top hair was always my style of choice over a full head.

the reason i cut my sides is bc i looiked bad with a full afro and didn't know what to do with the hair on the sides so i got it cut but now since my hair is long enough to style i miss my sides

It doesn’t grow faster, you just get more length because the parts are smaller, which makes the dreads skinnier. If 2 ppl have the same hair type etc…. The one with the smaller parts will have longer and more dreads compared to the one with the bigger parts and shorter/dreads. There’s a trade off tho because the longer the hair gets the weaker they’ll be which means more breakage/ loss of length compared to the thicker dreads that will eventually get to the length of the skinnier dreads but with stronger dreads/ less breakage, which will eventually be longer, thicker, healthier.
