What are your top equalizing tips? Have you ever not managed to equalize? Here is my little second video to expand your ability to equalize and pop your ears properly :)

It can help to equalise on the surface before any descent 👍

Very true! I have heard some people say that pushing out air could put unnecessary stress on your ears.

Katt, for some reason I don't need to Equalize. My PADI Open Water Class was last weekend. We went down to 40 feet. I was the only one who didn't need to.

Probably you'll end up with severe injury, in any ways "DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH AND DON'T STOP EQUALIZING"

Its a good idea to do it anyway to remove unnecessary stress on your ears as it could cause damage without you even realizing! that's so exciting you finally had your dive though!

Keep breathing and equalise!! People remember the words, they forget the 'don't' so its a good idea to provide positive language.@@billyom1224

@@OceanPancakeIt was weird. I didn't always have to do it. But on the 3rd Dive, I had to Swallow with Reg in mouth. The one time.

underwater i move my head and let my ears fill with water, then i blow through my nose, and inhale through my nose until i feel my eardrums popping. then i can hear very well underwater

Hear? Its more important for comfort and not getting injrued, but I guess that hearing is also a side effect of equalising! I often wear a hood so feel like my 'ears' do not get much water into my ears! I am glad that works for you :)

Thanks Katt, but with my ears full of water after equalizing i enjoy the underwater sounds much more then with little water in my ears. can you hear very well underwater? try it with your ears full of water and you will notice the difference.👌👌👌@@OceanPancake

@underwa3284 I'm unsure what you mean by ears full of water. Sound travels 4x faster underwater due to the proximity of particles so you do hear a lot. But when you're underwater, there's water right up to your eardrum...

You know a lot of Katt, but i wanted to let you know about my experience underwater. Iam amazed everytime where all those sounds come from. I love listening to sounds underwater, do you?🐳@@OceanPancake

I had the opposite experience to you - never had any troubles equalising until about 200 dives in when I just ceased being able to without a lot of effort and pain. And then I start to worry about that before a dive which makes it even harder and it’s a vicious feedback loop. Not sure on the cause, steroids help every now and then but it has seriously started to affect my diving unfortunately.

Yes, the vicious feedback loop is definitely stressful. I know when students started to get nervous it would be so much harder. Sometimes I've found thst people have an accumulation of phlegm/gunk in their sinuses that never really cleared making it harder to dive

@@OceanPancake hopefully I can see if that’s the case and get it rectified. Off at flinders reef next week for the first dive in a long while!

my son an i went for our confined dives. it was in a pool. we never swim n a pool bc we have a very beautiful creek just down the street. we both can snorkel in the creek an go down to 12 ft an have no problems. but when we went for the confined dives n a pool we could only go down to about 8 ft an for my son he had to come back up an the instructor canceled his dive. i eventually made it to 12 ft but still felt the pain. do you think their is a difference bc we were n a pool? would it be better for us to try confined dives in a lake
