Better than buying a fancy pocket knife for 20 dollars. You make it on spot and shouldnt take you more than 3 mins.

Depends on the kinds of stones you have, their shape, size, and chipability

It's called working with what you have to get the job done. Was I "primitive" because I was born on a farm before REA brought power lines across our land? We used, washboards, windup alarm clocks, an ice box and a wood burning castiron cookstove. We lived without a microwave, telephone, wall thermoset or a flushing lever in the outhouse. Yet, we grew crops for market and foods for our table. There's nothing primitive about enjoying a traditional Christmas dinner by lamp light. BTW, there's an art to chipping flakes off a piece of chert to create a blade capable of butchering an animal or scaling a fish. Stone ground cornmeal is still available from grocery stores in my area. I have sharpening stones in my workshop, today.
