This is great. Thanks for making this video. It often does feel like I’m using another language when I’m telling people about how to set stones. Your channel has inspired me to get out and make videos too. Thanks for that

I’d really love to learn the more rustic styles of claw setting you see about these days - such as those used by Variance Objects.

Your videos are always so well made and full of very useful content, I really enjoy watching them! I would be very much interested in a video tutorial on granule setting which is one of my favourites, I believe it wasn't mentioned in the video.

@@JewellersAcademy Thank you for your reply, No, I'm actually referring to the stonecutting technique where the stone is set between granules. I'm not sure if I used the correct term in my previous comment :-)

If you were going to make a garnet and amythest combined necklas (in the shape of a heart/ 2 half hearts which clip together) which setting/settings would you go for?

I think it really depends on whether the piece is delicate or more of a statement piece. Different settings will have a different feel - claw will feel very delicate, but a collet more contemporary or chunky. You will also need to consider the mechanism for how the two halves clip together as that might influence which setting you choose. Hope that makes sense! x

What about Flush Set? Is that different from tension set? I'm just getting back into my smithing in the US and would love to revisit some "in-person" classes to get reacquainted with the techniques. I have the full set-up at home, but have a little fear about doing it on my own without "adult supervision."

Nothing to be scared about at home! As long as you have good health & safety procedures in place. Yes flush set it different from tension set. x

Hello I'm a subscriber and I have a quick question. Are the online classes lifetime classes or, would I have an experation date? I'm referring to the stone setting in silver class. I only ask because, I have a great bit going at the moment and I need a class, I can learn at my own pace. I was supposed to take a stone setting class in NYC before the current event took place. Thank you. Stay safe
