In this episode: driver Matt is called to recover six stolen motorbikes. The various owners gradually turn up to collect them, including a delivery driver unlucky enough to have had two mopeds stolen in as many months.
In Rothwell, Northamptonshire, a massive police and DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency)-run operation, Operation Methane, carries out checks on commercial vehicles along the A14. Among their victims are an overweight scrap metal truck which has to discard some of its load, a trailer with some unsecured logs on board, and a lorry carrying 11 tons of explosives.

Nobody 'forgets' to pay road tax. It's part of the responsibility of being a driver. You get a reminder, after that it's up to you...

Yip. THAT is exactly what all these new Electric vehicles are about. Upgrading them by internet bluetooth but also impounding them if you haven't paid your taxes, road tax, insurance and/or latest dentist bill. Tesla can immobilise your car upon demand. All it takes is for the police to get a direct link to Tesla to do it. THEN they will standardize all (or part) of the software included in EVERY car and will be able to do the same. No more playing around and stopping cars. The police will simply give an electronic order to YOUR vehicle and then as soon as you park it and take the key away, it will NEVER start again. All they have to do is follow the integrated GPS and come and put it on a recovery truck. Or immobilise it if it's in a safe place (like your garage) until all your outstanding bills have been paid ...... Do you use e-billing ? Sooner or later the Banks will be doing your accounts for you and paying your bills and you will ONLY have access to cash IF there is some left .... 1984 is here 🙂 WHY on earth do you think Elon Musk is insisting his car company is NOT a car company but a tech company. Its the end of a free world. Get a bicycle. LOL. I worked for a tech company selling expensive machines on a lease plan to Indian companies. We installed a mobile phone in them and linked it to a switchboard we didn't tell them about. If they missed ONE payment - Phone up the machine and switch it off ! They pay VERY fast when they are losing more per day by having a machine shut off than the horrendously expensive lease plan they thought they could evade simply by not paying anymore .... (NO I wasn't going to send engineers out to dismantle it and take it back - THAT would have cost a hell of a lot. YES; I could shut down their machine 🙂 from thousands of miles away). When they phoned up to say it wasn't working anymore we asked them if they had paid ? NEVER tell them you can switch it off. Let them work it out. It usually only ever happened once after that. Cost THEM too much production, me ? A phone call to India - 1USD). The Muppet claiming he "employee" is insured to drive his recovery truck .... NOT: The police double checked that mate.
I have news for you, towing a vehicle for no insurance or no taxes does not make the roads safer. Please explain how insurance is going to save a life. Its all about money

But someone that gets involved in an accident and they have no claim against the driver, who is not got insurance, my friends husband was killed by a un insured driver, and he had three young children

It is all about the money. Somebody has to pay when an uninsured driver causes damage or injury. In simple terms government is funded by taxes, insurance payouts by premiums. Is it fair that those that don't pay are also exempt from any accountability? Can't afford insurance, buy a bicycle.
