I'm from Detroit and swapped hellcats are VERY common. A lot of these people not only steal hellcats, but they pull out the engine and slap it into a mopar shell, then hide an airtag in that car so they can steal back the vary engine they just sold!! The cycle keeps going untill they get caught.

The insurance company will try to recover whatever possible from the claim.. the insurance pays out at least the value of it on the market so say 80-90k on a 120k hellcat redeye .thats to whoever got there car stolen from them. There's a lot of fraud claims done just like that tho. A fully stripped car and bye it back reassemble and you just got the car +cash . and if you got the parts that match up to that than it's nothing more than put in back together..

If it says v6 and that mofo is a high powered v8, yes sir, they will look for the vin or any other identifying marks they can find to see if that engine came from a stolen car.

Before 2020 I was working at a performance machine shop and would get calls offering 7k for hellcat engines my boss told me never to entertain offers on those engines.

Odb2 reports the vin that’s encoded in the cars ECU. This vin won’t match the body vin if the engine and ecu have been swapped. The ecu can be reprogrammed to report the body vin, but that usually takes specific knowledge and tools.

As I stated in on of your other videos. My Father and his friends did this all the time, But they went to junkyards to buy their engines. I remember Father swapping out a 396 for a 400 big block in hs 69 Impala. Then added a 4 barrel carburetor for that extra boost.

Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather get my engine from the manufacturer. Sure it’s more expensive but I know 9 times out of 10 a random hellcat engine is more than likely stolen

Buying wrecked ones from the yard maybe your best option or crate kit from dodge

Hellcat engines have slowed being stolen due to supercharger kits available for the 5.7 and 6.1 , 6.4 for dirt cheap. Way less labor, time and frustation.

Those hellcats engines online you showed are priced high to low from the accessories missing. That 10,000 one had no accessories assembly alternators ac compression etc. so you get the full package for the stolen 5,000 that’s insane lol

The only time it makes sense is if the vehicle is a write-off and they are using it a spare parts.
