Stoeger M3K Gun Review Part 1: Is it the best 3 Gun Shotgun or just the best Budget 3 Gun Shotgun?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Check out my two part video on the Stoeger M3K, the best 3 gun shotgun for the money. This is the best shotgun to buy for people getting into 3-gun!
i am aware that im kind of holding this gun like a jackass. I can promise you that the gun was verified safe and there was no ammo anywhere in the room. the round in the stage saver is a dummy round as i was dry firing the gun just prior to starting the video. I hate always showing a clear gun on these videos, so please just deal with it. or even better... comment about how dumb i am, those comments really help with the algorithm!!!

    Very nice video. Thanks for the quad load demo. Next time, can you talk a little bit more about cost and prices? Merry Christmas!

    Yeah at the time i couldnt find an m3k 3gun. So I bought the m3000, got the moa tube extension, slide release, charging handle and oversized safety. In red. And while i was waiting 8 weeks for the parts, took it apart and filed the loading well and polished it down and used it for some time. Its also a good clay shooting gun. Then i got a $1400 beretta 1301 and now have tge stoeger for backup. But it still is my primary clay gun. I just get weird looks when i show up for a clay tournament with a 10 round red painted tube extension. Recently i did finally purchase an m3k 3 gun and its nice but i think the loading well work i did is better than factory and i may take the m3k and polish and open it up like my m3000

    Yeah the loading port on the m3k is only slightly better than stock m3000. Anything you do yourself will be much better. I still need to do mine, but I’m able to quad load alright without messing with it. Maybe if I get faster in other aspects of shooting I’ll do it

    Just bought one of these fantastic value shotguns, taking it to my local clay ground this week, so will only be able to load two cartridges at a time, looking forward to having a go at PSG at the weekend to try it fully loaded. Amazing price for an inertia action shotgun, sadly a lot more in the UK than in the US, great video by the way.

    Hi ! I was wondering, if you can give me some pointers. I have and I love my M3K but the only problem is that I pull the trigger and it shoots twice (double shot) do you know what that could be ?

  • @michoutdoors4961

    @michoutdoors4961

    Is it actually firing two shells or is it firing and then double tapping the trigger before the next round has cycled? If it’s firing two shells then it’s gotta be a problem with the bolt/firing pin. The bolt is bouncing enough on chambering that the firing pin is hitting the next round. Could be an issue with the trigger/striker too as the firing pin shouldn’t go forward enough to fire without the trigger being pulled. If it functions with lighter loads then it may just need to break in. These guns need to be broken in with heavy slugs to work the action before they are truly reliable. Fire a box or two one shot at a time then see if the double taps stop If it’s not actually firing the second round (but the gun is “decocked” like you pulled the trigger) then you have an issue somewhere in the trigger group, causing it to not reset properly I’m sure that’s not super helpful, but that’s where I would start.

    Im also not an expert, so please operate the gun at your own risk and using proper safety measures. Unwanted double taps can be very dangerous. Don’t load more than two shells until you have it resolved. This is just where I would start. Someone with more knowledge than myself could maybe help you more

    michoutdoors thank you so much for such useful information, I had this shotgun for about 2 years, and I believe I shot at least 2-3 thousand rounds , and the problem that I have with it wouldn’t happen very often but every now and then I’ve get that malfunction, I would pull the trigger one and it shoots twice , I probably going send it to Stoeger because it comes with life warranty , let them deal with it , I was just curious about because I like this shotgun a lot .

  • @michoutdoors4961

    @michoutdoors4961

    That will be the safest thing to do. That’s a scary malfunction to have sporadically. Was it always limited to two rounds? Would it ever fire more than two? My guess is they will replace the trigger group and the bolt/firing pin, or some combination of the parts within. The only other thing I can think of would be if the action is going back far enough to chamber the next round, but not far enough back to reset the trigger. That doesn’t seem possible as usually most triggers reset before the action cycles enough to chamber a round. If you’ve got a bunch of rounds on the gun it’s probably an issue with a broken/worn trigger part. Thousands of rounds is pretty awesome out of a gun in this price range :)

    michoutdoors never more that 2 , then if I shoot 2-3 hundred rounds it would stop doing that , I have no idea why is that happening, but I’m sure the company will figure that out .

    how many slugs are suggested to run through!?

  • @michoutdoors4961

    I can’t remember exactly what they listed as the suggested amount. (50 maybe?) I’d run a box or two before I started judging the guns reliability. You can always shoot whatever you want and just deal with the potential for some failure until it breaks in. Mine was very lightly used when I bought it and it has run well with loads lighter than suggested by stoeger. I’d just keep in mind that the gun will get more reliable as it breaks in, and you can speed that process up by running some slugs through it early on

    Hey. I just brought this one. Was looking wyd the new JM pro 940 but this was available. Per the instructions. Run 4-5 boxes of heavy loads. Since slugs are hard to come by now. How’s your running.

    It is picky on ammo and it isn’t user error.

  • @michoutdoors4961

    It’s not any more picky on ammo than any other inertia driven shotgun. Really any ammo you would reliably use in a 3-gun match it runs. There are some low recoil bird loads that aren’t hot enough for it, but the extra juice helps knock down steal at most matches I still haven’t seen anything close to it for the price. Priced low enough for an entry level gun and performs well enough with a few upgrades to shoot at a high level.

    Well respectfully I have to disagree with you. There’s not a lot of bulk ammo where I am that reliably feeds in it to call it good. The M2’s I see cycle better. For the $ perhaps it’s decent but it’s not even close to as reliable as even my Canuck operator as an example.

  • @michoutdoors4961

    @michoutdoors4961

    Anything that meets the minimum spec for the M3k has ran flawlessly for me. I’ve only ever had issues with 7/8 and 1oz low recoil loads That Canuck looks kinda cool, I’ve never seen them. But I’d hesitate to call it a “competition” gun. Can you get a +8 or +9 mag tube extension with that short barrel?

    @@michoutdoors4961 oh it’s definitely totally different applications. You can’t no, just drawing a comparison with a cheap gas gun. I’d agree within spec it operates, just a bummer it won’t do the cheap stuff.
