I love how the violinist has the cold dead eyes of a killer, every ounce of outward facial expression and brain power converted into creativity and musical expression. Fantastic.

holy crap Rocky Gresset is a monster, and surprisingly the best part of his solo is the chord melody crazy rhythm part where he is using the sus chords chromatically over the dominant bridge section and winds up with that crazy 3 or 4 chord box rhythm part around minute 4-5, I mean gawd damn man, that might be one of the coolest things I have heard in awhile

I am late reacting to the comments. It is appropriate to say research all these artists before putting your foot in your mouth. You lack familiarity with this guitar design and the impact it had on manouche. Have you ever listened to Django? Do you understand that the “chonk” is elemental to this genre? The design enabled players to provide rhythm and percussion simultaneously. The same thing happened in Western Swing with the rhythm guitarist an Bluegrass with both the guitar and banjo. Many times these players couldn’t afford a drummer, or the cumbersome necessity carrying the instrument around. I guess that isn’t apparent nowadays. I love the guitar, and it’s usually the first reason I watch videos, but the comment about the violinist is uncalled for. To build a torrid arrangement, it is helpful to have a counterpoint, in this case the violin to propel the guitar leads. All music is that way. Some gypsy jazz uses accordion in the same manner. Remove that counterpoint and the sameness of the presentation dulls, it’s why a lot of metal just becomes thousands of mindless notes. The phrasing here appears largely spontaneous. Delightful. If you enjoy and understand it, great. If you don’t, try to keep your uninformed opinion to yourself. Go listen to you Justin Bieber CDs.

OOOOOOHHHH WOW. The most amazing with that stuff there, that these guys mastered the idea of D.Ellington. Making the listener feel as if he would actually ride there with a gipsy carvan. As i close my eyes whist listening i can see the dogs running between the carreges, as the horses go passing by one another and stuff...... great great respect to these awesome musicians............
