Istg my favorite thing about the writers for these movies; they literally took the fans idea of these two being in love and added it into the second movie to be a bit more prominent, which is why Robotnik treats Stone a bit better and there’s no way in hell after the first intro scene to the second movie somebody can tell me Stone ain’t catch some HEAVY ASS feelings bro. ✋🏾❤️🖤 Love goes to the actors and the writers for indulging our bullshit without them Istg I’d be stuck reading fics instead of just watching the gay clips of these idiots 💀

Yes! I’ve been saying that those deleted Stone and Robotnik scenes were removed because they didn’t want Stone shown being treated badly by Robotnik. Love them so much for developing their relationship that way; Robotnik treats Stone better and Stone is way more obviously infatuated with the Doctor in the second movie. What about Robotnik's time on the mushroom planet? He had named a rock Agent Stone and took it everywhere with him (and then _thanked_ the inanimate object for "attacking" an enemy when he was down, when it was just him activating a catapult). Then when Robotnik got back he said "I missed you, Stone." So I think he at least cares about him.

One thing to note, even if you're not shipping Robotnik and Stone, it is still worth noting that Stone views everyone as inferior humans EXCEPT Robotnik, someone who is he willing to do anything from. The fact that, when Robotnik is missing, he didn't took his place, but misses him greatly despite the comic revealing that he basically inherited his will, says a lot about his respect.

The stoner joke really fits considering that there's a deleted scene where Eggman gets high on the Mushroom Planet and Stone starts talking to him as the rock and that's how he gets the idea for the beacon (I'm not even joking haha)

something I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone else mention yet is that in their very first scene in the first movie when they’re meeting major bennington, stone reacts to him interrupting robotnik. right after the ‘look, pal’ part of bennington’s line, stone looks to me like he winces like ‘oh you’ve just fucked up, this is gonna be fun to watch’, I noticed it on my second or third watch, and it’s taken me out every single time and it needs more appreciation. to be honest, I just think stone’s reactions need more love in general, watching his responses to stuff going on around him has become one of my favourite things to do during these films, from the ‘wiggle your digits’ reaction to the display bagel, he has some absolutely killer reactions and they are guaranteed to get a laugh every damn time I see them

Stone knowing Robotnik likes his lattes, and Robotnik telling him he loves the way he makes them is adorable. 😍 If I love you enough to remember how you like your coffee, I'm prolly gonna put a ring on it.

This is how you do a gay couple in a movie - it's freaking obvious, the chemistry is off the charts, but it's not spotlighted, it's allowed to just be what it is. I love this ship, the dynamic between them is absolutely delightful, and while I realize it'll be a miracle if we get Jim Carry as Robotnik in the third movie at all (please, whatever god might deign to care, PLEASE!), if they could canonize the ship on top of that, I would be over the moon. Many would think Stone and Robotnik's relationship as toxic but I do not see it that way given the Movie Robotnik's life has been a harsh one and the fact that even when he was banished the only person on his mind was Stone (He literally made him a rock which is low-key admitting that Agent Stone is his "Rock" in his life). And when he did come back outside trying to get Sonic the other thing he does is literally go to find stone because he is Robotnik's stable pillar needed to keep himself focused. Plus he may act like he sees Stone below him but if he saw him as such a burden there would been no way in hell he would come back. Even though I dont care for shipping but Stone is Robotnik's only friend and Stone makes him know that as a fact.

I think the reason it feels like there's gay undertones is because Stone seems to be the only person Robotnik doesn't belittle, or at the very least not to the extent he does other people.
