Stingray 5 Special: A Demo Without Slapping.
I recently got a hold of this guy, a Stingray 5-string Special. I love basses with distinctive, growly tones, like my Warwicks, and this one is right up there! Check out the specs here: www.music-man.com/instruments...
** Note: I've got nothing against playing slap bass, but everyone knows the Stingray is a monster with slap style already. I didn't think I'd be making anything new or useful by just adding some more slap sounds to KZread.

Nice man! Love my stingrays! Parallel is definitely “the” stingray tone 🤘 I love cutting the bass especially live and pumping the mids, it just cuts so well!

Thank you!! Yeah, that classic "punch-in-the-face" Stingray tone really comes out when you hang around on the low B string!

Yeah! While a Stingray will always sound like a Stingray, that tone works in so many more situation's than just a good slap riff. Thanks for watching!

It seems to me that most USA Stingrays 5 have the outer strings, especially the high-e string very very close to the edge of the fingerboard. Do you find it a problem with the string feeling like it could easily slip off the edge?

I didn't notice any issues. The only time that's ever been an issue for me was on a few Warwicks, since you can adjust the string spacing. But not on the Stingray.

The G string does slip off more easily than on other basses. It's a fairly famous thing with all EBMM 5 strings.

Thanks! Yeah, it's SO tempting to start playing slap as soon as you pick it up, but it's got so much more to offer! I'm normally not big into gloss finishes, but it just worked here. Fortunately, the neck is still satin, and that's what really matters for me when it comes to finishes! Thanks again for stopping by.
