Not the best band...but best works for sure....which argues if it is his best band. I feel his best band was in the mid-80s when he went through his jazz/black-and-white phase.

I read somewhere that Sting was looking for a new drummer and Vinnie reached out to him and Sting said It's too far to come , but thanks. Vinnie then paid for his own plane ticket, showed up and got the gig.....of course!!!!

These guys are simply monsters at their craft. Groove, creativity, listening to one another is unmatched. I never cease to be blown away by these four guys. One of Sting's best groups by far.

Spot on sbcconsult. By far the best Sting band put together for a tour.

The level of musicianship is really high here. This band is lethal.

And then there's 20:54. Only Vinnie would be confident enough, as "just" the drummer, to stand up and do a little piece of acting (and in time)...and with such passion. I love this man.

VINNIE IS THE " MAN" OF DRUMMING ❤️❤️❤️

EVERY TIME I see a live show (and I've watched MANY) of Sting absolutely ripping insane bass lines and singing at the same time it blows my mind. The immense talent that one man contains is just... overwhelming. A true genius in every sense of the word.

Incredible how just 4 people can make such beautiful music. This sounds like a whole orchestra.

@@bhmi9090 Deffinately some vocal aid on some of these songs. There aee a few moments where we hear multiple Stings. There is either a hidden guy playing vocal samples off a keyboard or they are synced to a tape with a click track.

Una maestro en la guitarra acústica y eléctrica. Aún hoy es compañero de Sting y su banda. Por algo es esa elección y Sting lo debe saber🎸es apoyo importante en el sonido. Dominic en solitario hace además muy buena música.

How can someone not love him? His guitar playing is awesome and looks so simple although it's not. A great musician.

Colaiuta's live drumming is so tight and sharp that sounds even better than on the record...he and Manu Katche are absolute champions...

best sting band ever..........

Great album and concert sting is playing a fender precsion with a graphite neck. really great sounding bass so crisp and punchy. never seen him with this bass after this tour.

The red fretless Precision Bass circa 1980 is right there too, but this one is a better look overall.

Amazing musicianship ..Sting is a Genius

I am so happy i found this video on YT. Saw it back in 93 and never forgot their playing which inspiredxme me in my guitar and piano playing till this day.. 48 now so must have been 17 at the time 😁

I saw this tour in Austin TX. Beautiful show. My former wife was blown away by the musicianship. I can still see her face...amazement...

IMO, Sting's best era...Soul Cages + Ten Summoner's Tales.

@@Wyst3207 Soul Cages is a fine album but hardly his best. It had only 1 hit & was not near as memorable or solid as The Dream of the Blue Turtles was. Ten Summoner's Tales & his debut were his 2 best IMO.

On a relaxed friday evening I am thrilled. This complete concert has formed a large part of my musical orientation, I'm still grateful for that. I have listened to it literally at least a thousand times. I was a paperboy when I was 16 years old and every day I listened to the full concert at least twice. I recorded it on our local music tv-channel, then recorded it on a cassette deck and put it in my walkman. A good friend wanted to check it out and completely damaged my 'original recorded' VHS tape. I think I know it almost note by note. I have searched the globe for this record! Thank you, I'm instantly on my bicycle again and feeling 18 years younger with a blink of an eye. Music is a peculiar thing.

yes it is. it helped me on my merry way as a musician listening to such a great 3 piece. While i was token and smoking me brains out! I don't do much now though. either or.

The highligth of Sting and the best setup of musicians ... on a note... without Vinnie on drums it would have been the same

Thank you for sharing! I saw him on stage 31 years ago and the fans want to listen to the old songs. Simply great, unparalleled, unique + timeless!

Been a lifelong police as well as sting fan thanks to my older brother who had synchronicity on a 33 record back when they were the thing lol . saw sting solo in 2000 and then again for the police reunion in 2007 when he reunited with andy and stewart both concerts in Toronto. This guy is a master in the music business and his music has been a huge part of my life and for that I feel very blessed and beyond enriched!!!

18:26 Vinnie just reminding Sting who the master in odd time signature is. It takes a couple of beats, but Sting knows where he is again. I love that!

Sting never loses the beat, they both are reacting to David coming in on the keys with a pitch shift right there

Ten Summners Tales and Mercury falling --To my mind Sting's best two solo albums.

Dominic Miller wasn't hired, but he is Stings guitarist since the late 80s.

There are no words that I can think of to describe this out of this world performance and experience and I'm beginning to think that this man and his band of brothers IS from another planet or dimension which fortunately I have now been allowed to enter into and make the connections I was meant to make from the beginning of time, so to speak. Are we not ALL connected and are we not one another in different universes which are only a flick of a light switch away, as it were? All I CAN say about this unbelievably beautiful display of incredible talent and total understanding of life as we have come to know it is WOW, WOW, WOW!!!

Something about this whole DVD and the ending especially is fascinating. The ending sounds dark, sad, and evil in a way but I find myself loving it.

Hearing Vinnie playing Stewart's parts is so good!
