Drummer is absolutely fantastic! Really hard song to play for drummers...
After learning what exactly fantasy drum camp is this video feels ten times more satisfying. That’s an audience of drummers, they get it. I also think there’s Dave Weckl and Gary Husband in the back of the room

I've never been. I'd venture that the audience is also filled with producers, promoters, agents, and other musicians looking for a new drummer.
Yoyoka’s level of professionalism and maturity at her age just blows me away. What a fantastic performance.🐰🥁🐰🥁🐰
This is what's considered 'pop' music in the 90's.. how lucky were we. :)

I absolutely love all of the "holy crap" nods from Hagar towards Yoyoka!
Really not easy to reproduce the absolute genius of Vinnie Colaiuta, one of the best drummer in the world, but this girl can do anything...
she can do in live band perfectly. for me she's one of the best female drummers in the world of professional drummers.
One word, ‘Proud’. Like watching your little sister blossom. ❤️
Who ever thought a little thirteen year old Japanese girl would have taken the drumming world by storm. She always makes it look so easy too. Amazing!

Anyone who has studied the Samurai culture.😊
This kid has turned into one of the most formidable musicians on the worldwide block. I wish she would never leave the U.S., as the opportunities that exist for her would be here in America, right? Not anymore - all opportunities are working there way to her. Simple fact ~ she will earn this trophy. Just so sick and tired of watching Ingenues come in off of some fame trip, American Idol and believe that the band will come to them. The band of the century - not hardly a chance. I cannot wait to see the top musicians and bands come to HER to record their music. She will be a formidable leader in the industry, not one doubt. Drummer on records, or recording engineer, or producer ~ this Yoyo is set for the throne in the music industry. Parents have kept her safe from moguls who want to use and abuse her talent for profit - excellent job they have done! Nobel Prize efforts to keep this kid sheltered and focused on her passion. They too, have shown incredible business and wellness sense ~ power to them and prayers. Best of luck, kid ~ and cheers to the family!

That vocalist has to be extremely thankful to be singing with Yoyoka. So bloody pitchy. That drummer she is already a phenom.
A well deserved standing ovation.
Why am I tearing up at the crowd's reaction? How I envy them.

OMG, she breezes through this smooth yet very difficult Sting song!! AND this is an unrehearsed one-take performance.... 😲totally amazing!!
to make odd time signatures groove is a hallmark of great drummers. i love the double time kick drum sections. keep studying the greats, Yoyoka! 20-30 years down the road, a young kid will discover your playing and you will inspire them on to greatness. bass player's smile says it all.

I am so proud of you that when the audience applauded I got emotional.
I'm so jealous of those in attendance. Only time in my life I wish I lived in SoCal. YOYOKA was brilliant!!!
It’s one thing to be able to jam with the original recordings.. it’s another thing altogether to hold the song down .. and not just any song.. an odd time song with seasoned professionals as well.. and that groove was real.
I assume this band is performing with a lot of different drummers during the event, so probably don’t always know what to expect going in. “So, a 13 year old wants to cover ‘Seven Days’? Ummm, ok…” and then about two bars in, “Ohhh, OK then!”
Well deserved standing ovation! It's amazing how modest she is about her abilities! It makes her so uncomfortable to get the respect and recognition that she is always given, and so well deserves. What a wonderful human being and a gift to us all! I feel blessed to have met her (and all the Soma's)!

She was in the pocket. And played very maturely and did what was perfect for the song. She’s so ahead of the game for her age in that aspect. So many drummers much older just want to show off their chops not thinking about how to benefit the song. I was guilty of that lol
Well, that sure brought an ear-to-ear smile to my face! Loved everyone’s reaction too. 😊
I've watched this so meny times. blown away by how awesom this drum track is.🥁⚡☝🏻🤘🏼👍✨🌟
Ok I guess this is officially the Yoyoka video I keep coming back to the most. This sounds so good. Whenever I'm getting upset I watch this and it catches my attention and calms me down every time.

Vinnie Colauita would approve this!! 👍🤘❤️🇮🇩
Once again great art from Yoyoka and moreover, she puts everyone in confidence. One word amazing. Congratulations to all the band
This is astounding. She looks like she's been playing this every night with this band for ages, and yet they did it with no rehearsal. Wow. This is why Yoyoka will be very highly sought after - she masters the track in very little time, she is extremely consistent and yet can improvise when called for, and she will show up sober and on time lol. Those last two points are actually more important to some top-level producers than the rest in fact, as a friend of mine told me when he went to Las Vegas to do session and live work.
@NonEuclideanTacoCannon

Made me remember an anecdote I read somewhere or other. In LA in the 80's and early 90s, certain hard rock/hair metal bands weren't able to actually play well enough to record. They would show up to the studio drunk or high, fight amongst themselves, and refuse to play more than a few takes. They also had obvious ego issues. So, after the band would leave, the producers would have this guy called The Technician or The Mechanic or something like that come in and re-record each track. For every instrument. He'd nail it first take. So many classic LA hard rock songs from various bands are all played secretly by this one dude. I have no idea if it's true, but it sounds plausible.
@Glen.Black.
10 ай бұрын
It is! She is light years above many professionals that have to do a dozen takes to get it just right. When she came to Las Vegas, I was with her when she did the recording session for Led Zeppelin's "The Ocean" with "EllenPlaysBass" (Ellen Alaverdyan) and two other local musicians. She had just met Ellen a couple hours before in Ellen's studio. They just toured the studio, no practice or playing, went to get an ice cream, then we drove over to the studio. YOYOKA and Ellen walk in, not in the least bit nervous, the other two were practicing, and a bit nervous. YOYOKA is now meeting them for the first time at that moment, YOYOKA tunes her kit, Ellen, tunes her bass, they do the sound checks with the engineer, and without playing or practicing it a single time, they nail it on the first take. Was simply amazing to watch our little pro in action!

Some people have sheer talent and some people have great intellect and some people have a great work ethic and an ability to concentrate on what is important and some have a strong support system that gives them love and guidance. Yoyoka and Ellen are those kind of people.

Vinnie had to smile for a long time after watching this. He was probably bug eyed with mouth open half way through it, cheering her on. Dude deserves some appreciation like having Yoyoka tracking his every move like a bloodhound. She's coming for you, man, and there's nowhere to hide.

You can tell the audience are drummers. They applaud the tight transitions.
So unrehearsed the bassist suggests how she will come in, the singer asks for the count, then the basist falls into Yoyokas groove so easily that she casts a smile, the guitar and keyboard player decorate the mood and speaking of smiling that guy in the front row with glasses was grinning from ear to ear the whole time and the whole thing is flawless first take. That's the Yoyoka Effect.
