Still Watchin: Diego's 20 Stair Ollie
Спорт
Diego, Hewitt and Bailey remember their legendary trip to Japan with the Phelper firing off in the streets of Tokyo before The Butcher’s legendary 20-stair ender from Good and Evil. Valor!

It is hard to believe this was shown in Toy Machine Good and Evil almost 20 years ago as his ender. What memories...

yeah, these are way interesting. I seen some footage of like three dudes who are dead pros skating at yuba city in the mid 90's. It's like phil shao, tim brauch and (this guy isn't dead) maybe cardiel when he still able to skate really gnarly. Maybe kit erickson (but that doent sound right to me.) Not thrasher footage, but super cool because they are all doing the raddest airs.
One of the most impactful skate segments I've watched in a long time. Please make this a regular series.

Oh man. Jake Phelps seems like such a fuckin solid guy - hopefully heaven is a halfpipe. Fuck addiction. This was a beautiful display of journalism.
Say whatever you want about Phelps, his passion for skateboarding is just so fucking contagious and admirable! And Diego, fuck. He's one of the original madmen who just threw himself off huge shit and inspired so many of us to do the same and push our limits. Skateboarding is pretty fucking sick

Awesome to see footage of Phelps skating. Diego's ollie Is still one of the biggest to go down all these years later!
The editing and the way the music transitioned from interview through clips reminded me of an ON Video segment. I remember being in my teens, seeing this ollie in the Toy ad, and trying to count the stairs. This is the kind of stuff I grew up on.

I vividly remember the caption on one of the ads for this ollie: “On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 20…”
I feel blessed to have been able to see Diego skate on his first tour with Toy Machine. The park I saw them at had a vert ramp on the street section with a thin deck and some random dude was sitting up on top of it, blocking the guys from doing tricks. Diego went up and rock and rolled on his nuts so he would move. It was awesome.
What a gift to start out this Monday with. Diego, Phelps and of course Steve Bailey who got me into skating as a kid who had just moved from a small logging town in WA state and it was Bailey that taught me how to ollie and how to drop into his mini ramp at his folks house first two years moving to Cali / PB. Him and my older brother were real close growing up, they surfed a lot and went to school together. Diego’s Ollie still stands the test of time. Incredible!
I remember seeing this cover in the 50 year anniversary mag, dope shit 🔥🔥🔥

I can't believe how emotional this is. Still has the same impact for me that it did when it came out.
Toy Machine Good and Evil was the fist skate video I ever watched, love this shit
1:49 when Diego does his Phelper impression his accent almost goes away! That's kind of crazy
💙 R.I.P Jake long live the legend
20 years later still a heavy and memorable video part. Especially like the song, Rata Blanca is like the Spanish Iron Maiden and I never would've heard of them without the Butcher. I remember going to my local shop when I was 15 and picking up Good and Evil, all the other kids in the neighborhood came over to my house there was like 20 kids up in my room watching this being super stoked and we all shredded a local loading dock after. Miss those times thanks for reminding me that life is good
His part in _Good and Evil_ is still one of my favorite skate video parts ever.
Diego still skating at his best. great video.
Diego sempre será uma grande inspiração, assistir o vídeo da Toy Machine várias vezes na época! ✌🏻😁🇧🇷🇺🇲🇦🇷
I remember getting my mind absolutely blown by this back when I first watched it. Still do every time I go back. Diego was nuts and a personal favorite before this, but this was finally something I could show friends and have them immediately understand.
Some people are truly just built different. This clip has always stuck with me, ever since I bought the dvd when it came out.
I remember getting Good and Evil on DVD and rushing home from the skate shop. Diego's entire part was life altering. So much speed and air
Diego style has always been his own, super rad and unique.
One of my favorite video parts was Diego doing a flat ground ollie over a gap that was like 15 ft long. I think it was like an ad for his signature shoe for Reef. Just jaw dropping. What a great skater he is.

Ok, this is sick. Never seen footage. There’s this thing about different angles I love about. Diego was gnarly. So much power and energy in his skating. One of my many favorites to watch back then 🫡
Gracias por representar diego🇦🇷💖 leyenda del skateboarding!!!
This was incredible
The emotions that were evoked when I read the title knowing what I was about to watch was incredible. That twenty stair is legendary. I watched the actual vid and it was on another level in terms of the capture of life. Beautiful.
Started skating at 5 in 2002, this made really appreciate that I grew up when Phelps was around
One of my greatest trophy: while on tour in France, I got the Butcher's autograph on the published sequence ;))
La mejor parte que ví en mi vida, que motivación me dió este final y todos los trucos en generales sumado a la canción de rata blanca 🐀 la leyenda del hada y el mago... Esto es, fue y será arte 💚
That ollie is a part of the skateboarding soul forever and ever, peace Diego
I don't even skate, and this seems like the most positive vibes and crew of people to hype a dude up to try something no one had ever done before. I've seen jake in a few documentaries, and i know he edited thrasher, but getting to see him be just a dude helping his friend crush it, was cooler than any of the stuff i'd seen before.
Love this. It was a honor to spend time with Diego and Jake on the first king of the road trip.
And with a tweak! Always loved that video, forever a classic banger!
One of the first skate movie that I watched- good and evil. Still my favourite today. Good to get insight behind the scene of that monstrous ollie and documentary of the trip. Skateboarding will always be so cool and interesting to me. Thanks thrasher
Shit like this transcends skateboarding. It's an amazing feat of human ability.
Good & Evil was hands down my fav skate video as a kid. Got it for Christmas one year and played it over and over and over

This has always been my top fave clip. Right around the time I started skateboarding. Had the luck of working in a local skate shop and later running one in my hometown. The wholesomeness of skateboarding will always stand the rest of time for me. RIP JAKE!
Thank you jake. Always missing you being around homie.

what a gnarly set of stairs and the run up was not the easiest and ya like Diego said you can see the good energy Phelps brought that good hype.
That was almost 20 years ago and the good and evil part was insane! Along with the Rata Blanca song! It was amazing.
So awesome, well done.

I’m surprised this isn’t more famous. It’s huge and I barely know about it.
