What a strange view
I've been playing a Ptolemy campaign and am having lots of fun I really love the way EB gives you important and meaningful decisions about the future of your conquered territories. You're not just a blob trying to become a bigger blob (the problem with a lot of grand strategy games) but instead a real administrator of a complex kingdom. I'm actually just auto generating battles because I enjoy immersing myself in the campaign mechanics
@GudeaTW

Very nice! Agreed. But I'm not a big auto resolver haha
Played EB 1 a lot back in the days and discovered EB2 just couple years ago, was surprised that it was not just port of EB1 but smth much more elaborate. Had a few great campaigns, Rome and Pontus were super fun, but one I loved most was Nabatea with conversion from desert nomads to settled hellenized, that was really something

Yes the reforms in 2 are unbeatable
It really is. I fell in love with the old EB, and followed this mod from its early development until around 2016. Always fun to come back to every few years.
How the time flies since I discovered your channel by watching your original EB1 and 2 reviews so long ago. Thanks for the video Gudea.
EB II still holds up as the most historically accurate total war mod, few other mods can compete with it in that regard. The best Medieval 2 mods overall are Divide and Conquer, Tsardoms and EB II, in my opinion.

It's definitely very different compared to Med 1, but still great for me!
Great to see a new video on this Still one of the best
Is the 2.4a version the same as 2.4? Is 2.4a slightly more up to date? I tried to find the difference on the mod page but I can’t find it.
I love Europa Barbarorum, but the 2nd version really turns me off with its incredibly flat map and very weird choice of textures. I'm looking at industrial age farmlands and not something that would look more akin to farmlands in the classical era. The mountains are so flat that they look like small piles of salt, I could go on, but the map really needs a massive overhaul in terms of how it's presented.

Please make a tier list of factions and units for EB1! I would love to see you ranking various units or faction starting points!
@mirceaiulian6960
4 ай бұрын
yeah, it would be awsome to see a top 5 most interesting factions in EB2, also a top of most disappointing units
I’m kinda ehhhh on EBII primarily due to the Eleutheroi, they’re ridiculous. I was playing as the Pritanoi, and had conquered up to Scotland at turn 95, only to discover they had two stacks while I could barely field one and a half. Then I investigated Ireland and discovered three stacks. I then turned off fow and discovered that *every* barbarian faction hadn’t moved an inch beyond their starting settlement, because they were surrounded by rebel settlements with several full stacks. I played another as Carthage, and conquered basically all of northwestern Africa up to turn 75. The only barbarian factions that made any headway were the Germanic factions and Rome straight up hadn’t moved beyond its starting settlements, (I checked my Pritanoi campaign, and realised that they’d actually *lost* a settlement to the rebels) The only places where anything happens is in the East with the massive empires, but the west is complete stagnation. Maybe there are some events that happen to make them stronger, but by the time they do, there will be even more rebel forces because the rebels can just keep recruiting. It’s a real shame, because I liked the gameplay of it all and the learning aspect , but the rebels are simply *not* fun, they’re a grind at best. I might fiddle around with the files so I can give the barbarians, particularly the Gauls, more starting settlements because they simply *can’t* expand.
If im correct the EBII team are working on a new faction for the next version I think it will be the Tocharians/Yuezhi. Interestingly the oldest version of Europa Barbarorum for Rtw had a Yuezhi faction which was replaced later by the Saka Rauka

Are they replacing another faction for them or is that new modding project that is said to update the limits of the engine being used for it?
update? awesome. Do you know if it's still required for medieval 2 to be installed outside program files(86) for the mod to work? i believe that was the case for some med2 mods.

Hey Gudea, to update the game do I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole application again or is there a way to just install the new version as a patch? I’m not very tech savvy. Wish these updates were save game compatible as I had a two really good campaigns as Parthia and Taskashila. Also they added Tocharian units which is really awesome, hopefully they’ll add more Indian or even Siberian units in the future (although probably not likely)
@GudeaTW

You have to uninstall eb2 and install the new version I think, that's probably recommended
Im sure the new factions (if same culture than the “original” ones) roster are just same with 1 or 2 new units) thats the case in Roma Surrectum. I mean, they clearly have some favourite factions, the barbarians feel old and uninsterested but the Hellenic factions have tons of units. Does it still take 400 turns for the Romans to obtain the Marian Reforms units?
Hello mr. Gudea,i have a tiny curiosity to ask: is there any submod for EB2 that makes the campaign AI more agressive? I remember playing Pergamon in EB1 and boy oh boy,what a challenge it was! VH/VH campaign was such a blast,at the dege of the seat. Start as a small province, surrounded by bigger heftier legends,just so you outmanouver everyone. At they come at you,they don't mess around. Now,in EB 2.35, Pergamon is lethargic. I mean,the enemy AI is; other than some trouble with rarely spawning celtic army from their hide hole in Central Asia minor,nothing much. I would love to experience that adversity,and struggle again-and yet,it doesn't present anything of the sort,even on VH/VH...Does this 2.4 feel a little more agressive,or the same old same?
My fav mod ever, like you and many others I was a old eb1 player so this mod means a lot for me. I used to play with Armenia, Seleucids, Parthians...now I am trying Saka and others eastern factions. I always focus on the eastern part of the map. Once you have time, can you please make some video for all the reforms? Once the remain two factions slots are completed, I will propose an hot seat on this mod....even if I think it is a difficult mod to play.... Offtopic: have you see that in mod db there is a Invasio barbarorum 2 on Julian the apostete? I think you will cover that mod once fully released. 😊

They are quite different in gameplay, but I'd say their devotion to historical accuracy in AoR and progression is actually more similar than it looks at first glance.
I’m sure you’ve been asked before, but I can’t stop myself; did you play Roma Surrectum II at all for RTW? I tried EB, but found the battles too easy and unsatisfying. RSII was the pinnacle for me. I have two campaigns I’ve been playing for a decade now. The downside is that the AI armies are very demanding to beat, and conquest is slow. The upside is… just the most satisfying tactical warfare I’ve experienced
