I think a really important thing that no one in FIFA or international soccer will talk about is that they are using these cameras BEYOND their resolution capabilities. For background, I am a PhD candidate in mechanical engineering so I promise I am not just blowing smoke; these cameras DO NOT have the frame rate necessary for the speed of the ball or even the speed of players to resolve down to 1 mm which is what they are claiming is the distance the ball crossed over the line. SO if there's ANY slim chance Alyssa Naeher reads this, YOU'RE PROBABLY RIGHT and you probably did save it! At the very least, they can't definitively measure down to that small of a distance and it shouldn't have been counted solely due to VAR replay.

Hope she gets out of this sadness soon because she is one of the most positive and nicest people out there & deserves nothing but the best! Naeher you are a badass & one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the world. You are one of a kind & one of the best out there, keep on killing it! Sam you are phenomenal and we miss you! Hope to see you soon on the NT. Much success for all you ladies! Keep your head up, you got this! 💪❤

Im surprised neither of you chose Sam Kerr’s goal in the semifinals. Doing that solo run and shooting the goal from distance was THE boldest moment of whole World Cup. Australia were deep in their field, not creating any chances, completely dominated by England. And then Sam finally gets a good touch on the ball and in seconds leveled the score. That Sam Kerr goal, though short lived, completely changed the tone of the match.

Lynn had some bail baiter chances, was glad for her to be in those positions to score. Who knows what would've happened had those hit net. Thinking about all the injuries the team had, really added a little clarity or peace. Bc as talented as the team is/was, it wasn't the final form. No Mal, not Cat, no Sammy, no Abby, no Press, no Heath. All could've been game changers. Then there is who didn't get play time like Sofia, Ashley Sanchez, and even Alyssa whom played like 2mins. Huerta's crossing ability and long balls could've been so helpful. Team is stacked with talent, the revenge tour starts against Colombia.

So proud of your commentating from back home, Sam Mewis....you were as honest, compassionate, and informative as a USWNT current or former member should be constructively unlike a certain other vet on giving feedback of WC games. And Lynn Williams....you did your country, family and the crest proud.

I watched EVERY game! 2am, 3am, didn't matter. I love and appreciate the perspectives of you three and I really loved hearing Lynn and Alyssa's take on their experiences. That being said, I do appreciate and agree with the comment below that the cameras aren't quality enough to catch whether the ball went over the line by 1mm! I BELIEVE in my heart that Alyssa saved that ball and the ref made the wrong call! And I believe that things may have gone differently had Lynn been in there more! I hate VAR - I think it takes something away from the purity of the game. Even when a call goes against my team, Go Thorns, I accept the ref's call because we're human and that's the call they saw. I hate VAR! But I LOVE our women players!!! Go USWNT!

USWNT has only lost 6 games btw 2011-2023 in 4 WC:s & 3 OG:s , 1 each against Japan & Canada, and 4 vs Sweden, against which they only won 1 out of 6 matches. Why is that? Just a coincidence on some specific reason? Somewhat consequential that Sweden took over no 1 spot on the FIFA ranking considering this fact, may be.
