Stihl MS290 Chainsaw Part 11: chain oiling system explanation and repair.
Ғылым және технология
I turn my attention to the leaking chain oiling system on this Stihl MS290 Farm Boss chainsaw I noticed it did not seem to be oiling the chain, and oil was leaking out and making a mess.

Great video. Thanks for your time and effort. You've helped me to cure my MS461 oil passage problem.
Outstanding video Mr. Watroba. Your in depth explanation of the oiler and oil glands gives me some clues as to what to look for. BTW I like the sound of your last name. I hope you invent a valve or a procedure so we can name it the Watroba. lol
Just got my 290 up and running again thanks to this video
Thanks for the video. In lieu of pipe cleaners, I've found that welding tip cleaners work quite well. I use them for cleaning out carb jets.
identified my problem which ws gunk in bar s all good after cleaning ; very helpful video.
Very informative video with attention to detail. Thank you for posting. I'm ready to open my saw up!
Thank you for your helpful video. I didn't know about the oil pump adjustment and probably still wouldn't if it hadn't been for your very helpful video.
9.19 in the clip, you say that the hole is pointless, its not, it should be a small plastic thing there, at least at my sthil 039 there is a plastic part that can be replaced when worn down. Thx for a Great video!
That area you described that fills debris has a neoprene insert as a chain guide to protect housing your is missing
I found Tons of wood chunks and debri in my Oil pickup line!! And NO clue how it got there! Cleaned it up and oiler works good!
super excellent video, well done !
Thanks for the info.
If the oil vent hole mentioned at 3:00 gets clogged, can it affect oiling? I'm pretty sure the issue with my 261 is just leaky rubber bits on the pump inlet/outlet but I don't want to have to pull the saw apart again.

I would say yes. If the vent is clogged then you could have negative pressure (vacuum) develop in the oil tank starving the pump.
does stihl chainsaw ms290 has an adjustable oiler? thanks

There should be an adjustment hole on the bottom of t he saw. But you should clean the oil ports first to make sure they are not clogged

It is amazing how sticky those oil soaked chips get.
Blow some air through it!
