Stihl MS290 Chainsaw Part 11: chain oiling system explanation and repair.

Ғылым және технология

I turn my attention to the leaking chain oiling system on this Stihl MS290 Farm Boss chainsaw I noticed it did not seem to be oiling the chain, and oil was leaking out and making a mess.

Outstanding video Mr. Watroba. Your in depth explanation of the oiler and oil glands gives me some clues as to what to look for. BTW I like the sound of your last name. I hope you invent a valve or a procedure so we can name it the Watroba. lol

Thanks for the video. In lieu of pipe cleaners, I've found that welding tip cleaners work quite well. I use them for cleaning out carb jets.

Thank you for your helpful video. I didn't know about the oil pump adjustment and probably still wouldn't if it hadn't been for your very helpful video.

9.19 in the clip, you say that the hole is pointless, its not, it should be a small plastic thing there, at least at my sthil 039 there is a plastic part that can be replaced when worn down. Thx for a Great video!

If the oil vent hole mentioned at 3:00 gets clogged, can it affect oiling? I'm pretty sure the issue with my 261 is just leaky rubber bits on the pump inlet/outlet but I don't want to have to pull the saw apart again.

I would say yes. If the vent is clogged then you could have negative pressure (vacuum) develop in the oil tank starving the pump.

There should be an adjustment hole on the bottom of t he saw. But you should clean the oil ports first to make sure they are not clogged
