I have had my saw since 1998. It has only required routine maintenance until today when my bearing failed. New parts from E bay on the way. I did not know the threads were left handed on the crankshaft. Loved the way you used something up against the piston to break the inner clutch loose. Thanks for assisting others with your knowledge. I'm off to the shop . God bless .

Just what I needed. Picked up a 261 for cheap that's missing these parts.

Do you recall if the clutch cover was incredibly hot after this happened? I'm trying to diagnose why the clutch cover on my 026 gets so hot. I'm new to this saw so I don't know if this high heat on the clutch cover in normal.

Why did you have to pull the plug and do the rope trick for?

  • @4MRanch

To remove and tighten the fly wheel nut. It locks the piston from spinning without damage.

Yeah it was a good saw. However the new 261 I replaced it with is working really well. It has more power it seems like. I’m impressed

I don't think they do. I bought 1 new in 2004, have ran the heck out of it ever since with no trouble. wish they still made it.
