Been hearing about shimming chain tensioner s. You’re the first person to explain and demonstrate how and where. Thank you so much.

Well I bought a neotec 872 it has chain bar adjustment problems. I'm going to take a look a really close look and see what the problem is. You're the first one that's actually explained it correctly I think.

Hope this helps. I have to take a hard look at some 872's, I have just not had the chance. Good belated luck with it.

Just got myself a Farmmac F660V. The stock tensioner works but i could tell like you that it had too much slop in it. Mine was also grindy. I took it apart and found metal flakes in the gears. They actually did put some thick blue grease on it from the factory. I cleaned the entire mechanism and just put bar oil into it for lube. Actually works a LOT better now. But I also ordered an OEM Stihl part for that and my leaky gas cap. I sent the company a message and no one has responded so far. I'll save the stock adjuster as a backup. I will say this much. The first thing i cut with this saw showed me what real power is. My old saw was a 58CC cheap Chinese saw. It was great compared to other saws I've had. But this F660V is another world completely. Cut a stump shorter with it that was oak and about the same size as the 24" bar. Went through it like butter. I took the exhaust off and checked the piston and bore that I could see. Looked like it's breaking in fine. I went 35:1 on the oil for the first gallon. Synthetic 2 stroke of course. Only smoked when it's cold.

I also just got a Farmmac F660V a couple of days ago and my tensioner feels gritty and somewhat sloppy too. I'll take it apart to clean and lube and see if it improves. Thanks for the tip on that. It is one beast of a saw compared to anything I've owned in the past. Mine only smoked for the first 2 seconds it ran, probably residue from whatever cheap mix they tested the saw with, then ran smokeless on 35:1 FD rated oil. It fired on the third pull. Seems like a hell of a machine for the money, and with the 36" bar I can finally do something about those standing dead giant oaks that are all over my 90 acres here in TX.

I have a formatted g660. I purchased an oem stihl adjuster and I still have issues. It will turn fine without the bar going both ways but as soon as you put a load on it, it binds up and doesn’t tension properly. I’ll check about shimming

Good to put a face to the name....I got my 444 and 660 from Jes. Great saws, propblem is with the 444...dam chain tensioner...should I just swap it out with the OEM? I think the L slide is actually bent. Retracts fine, but no tightening/go out.

Oem is such an easy fix i think its worth the time saving alone.. order it from a local dealer.. and make sure they order ALL of it.. they love splitting up the parts so what you order is only half the parts...
