Good to see you Ironhorse, our buddy Stumpjumper is having a rough time. I believe a lot of loggers are going to end up shutting down , log prices diesel fuel equipment prices trucking has about killed them it's a shame. But the lefty's still want there toilet paper , fancy new homes with elaborate furniture but have no freaking idea how they get them or how there made it's a damn shame. Guys break there backs to get ahead just for idiots to snatch there whole life savings away from them. Yeah I'm a little pissed sorry guys.

Excellent video! I tried, and failed miserably, to rebuild a seized 371 (JRed 2071) oil pump. Wish I had this video as a reference. Different manufacturers, but very similar design. Again thanks!!

Yeah man…they are all pretty much the same… with a little file you can spin it as you twist around… it’s not the fastest way to go but it definitely will work…. I was digging though some stuff I’d bought at a yard sale years ago and found a 6” pink grinder wheel that was smooth as a babies bottom !!! I twisted mine around just barely touching them on the wheel and zip zip… great oil flow!!! I think every modern Stihl saw could use this little hack or upgrade…they just don’t want them to oil worth a poop… you go through bars and chains and dull faster because you are running hot all the time… I was looking at the 42” 404 bar on the 088 Stihl and it had those tiny oil holes!!! I grabbed a little drill bit and opened it up then ground a little groove with a burr… now she’s flowing some oil and you can cut the big stuff… they have been having a guy stand next to the cutter and he dumps a little oil on the bar as they go… I was like what I’m the Sam hell???? Like a couple years of that??? I said why didn’t nobody look at the oiler holes in the bar??? The guy said I didn’t know that you could adjust the oiler holes to get better oil flowing onto the bar’s???! LMFFAO!!’ I really thought that they were funning me for a little while… but nope they really were serious and doing it like that… their chains are totally ugly and just burnt slap up…

Holy crap this is amazing info Harvey! My stihl 460 leaks oil like a siv........if oil is full up to the GD (golly danggit) flip cap it leaks out the cap no matter how much I clean the damn cap, if it's bellow the cap it leaks under the side cover. The only time it don't leak is if I lay it on the clutch cover side caps up. I'm almost certain it needs a replacement everything little like the fuel filter, oil filter, plug, probably needs new flip caps, side cover is startin to crack around the bar stud holes, and the brass who-dun-it in the recoil is startin to eat pull cords and it's one that I can't push out amd spin it 90⁰ and call it a picnic. But I shouldn't complain because that saw has never let me down in 14 years of firewood service, and it's cut an easy 200 cord in the last 5 years.

It was hard for me to see the screwdriver with that little hammer banging the roll pin. I saw that bear come out like what the heck. That is the kind of stuff as kids we would expect to see from old man Walt Disney. I am glad to have Ironhorse thank you sir may show me another one.

Harv, amazing content! I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would watch this video and NOT 👍 "Like" and 💯 SUBSCRIBE for some of the best and FUNNEST content available anywhere! Happy Independence Day (today) Thank you for putting yourself in harm's way so that we can live in a free nation. I love you, Brother. You and the fam are ALWAYS in my prayers! This video has been long over-due! Chainsaw oil pumps drive ALL chainsaw owners quoetly insane at some point, and understanding the (sorta) simple steps to maintain, and even modify these pumps has been difficult to find. Most "firewood" saw owners give up, and even a lot of pros vet frustrated with them and never really get the gokds on how these little piston powered pumps function, or even the simple solition to at least really REDUCE how much they spend on bar oil with which to goo up the shelv where they live while not in use. It's the number 1 pita complaint, ain't it? Resturaunt kitchen renewals have been a sojrce for all sorts of mechanics for a long time. Great of ajto and manual trans work, 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine work - and quite a few other jobs that WILL "Release the smoo!" Stainless "bench toppers" are your friend, folks! True story! 👍

Thank you Harvey, Question, after increasing the travel; on the other end of the shaft, there is a flat spot, or slightly cupped portion. Should that flat, (or cup, I can't tell by the video what it is) be slightly hollowed out to collect more oil for pumping oil (I think that too much might be bad ), but just enough to compensate for the increased stroke ?

I've a question. I've got an old ms441c maybe from 2012 I think. It's always seemed stingy with the oil, like most stihls are,but I've replaced my 20 in bar with a 28" to do some bigger oak trees for firewood. Mine has the symbol on the bottom of the saw to adjust the oiler, but no access hole to get at a screw to adjust it. Would it not have an adjustable oiler? I'm thinking that all their pro saws would be adjustable some way. I wouldnt be against removing it to adjust it or drilling an access hole to the screw. It just seems very strange to me and I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. It's just not oiling enough to support a 28" bar.

I'm guessing it would be possible to do this mod on any oil pump of similar design (regardless of manufacturer). Like say a 372xp?

6/7/24 10am, so in other words the back and forth motion of that shaft (caused by the back-and-forth motion from the offset on the spine gear face) that has a flat spot grinded on it causes a suction from the oil Resevoir and pushes the oil through the oil feed tube ?
